I get it…you are one of those guys that believes your candle burns brighter when you attempt to blow out the candles of others…..

People are going to be split on this…and that’s just the way it is.  As I said, historically, this award is about offense. Relax a little.  No need to try and convince anyone.

BTW, Curry just didn’t carry the ball when playing offense.  He blocked.  Something QB’s really appreciate.

Oh yeah he has put a few guys on their backsides. I think he could be a good D1 TE.

I highly recommend pulling up George Karlaftis’ HS tape.  At least for me I have been going back and looking at the last elite monster DL/edge guy Indiana has produced.  Similar measurables and all.  It’s been a good reference for me

His highlights that I looked at are impressive but I think Curry's highlights are just as impressive and is a more versatile player. Have you even looked at any highlights from Curry?

You can’t tell me to not compare apples and oranges and then sit here and ask why a QB isn’t playing defense or special teams.

Curry was great getting those handoffs in the finals….but I’m not going to pretend that 16 carries all season (or whatever it was) is something to pound the table on.  GK3 played a little TE and made a nice snag in the redzone during his state finals game.  Nobody really cared.

I think the rushing thing has been way overstated and people act like it carries a lot of weight when it really doesn’t

Curry has two receiving TD reception.  He just makes plays all over the field that I have not seen other DLs make.

People always ask me, "doesn't it get old winning so much?"  I tell 'em, NEVER.  It's always a new cast of players and families and winning provides memories for them forever.

I feel blest to be a Cathedral alum and still an Irish fan.  Tradition is something that is hard to grasp unless you've experienced it.  Not only is Cathedral consistently good on the athletic fields, the quality education continues after all these years.  It's heartwarming for this old grad to see the quality continue.

Zionsville played about as good a game as they could.  They've been a challenge for two years now.  Hats off to the effort they put forth in the last two years.  Looking forward to more of the same as we move forward next year.

For the Irish, Danny O'Neil is amazing.  For one so young he has the poise of a one much older.  I can't wait to see what's ahead for this young man!  Jaron Tibbs is one of the best wide receivers in the state of Indiana.  I've said this all year, but he really come up big on the big stage, so to speak.  And he's only a junior!  Jaron is also a pretty fair basketball player.  The defense bent but didn't break.  The Eagles presented some things that made it difficult to defend.  Very diversified, although once they fell behind they became a bit more one dimensional.

I don't worry much about those who dislike the Irish because they win too much.  I've seen race drivers booed because they have won too much.  It's sort of a badge of honor.  Winning at Cathedral comes at a price for the players.  It's a year long process as they just don't just show up in August expecting to play well.  They will be back in the weight room in a couple of weeks preparing for a new challenge next season.

It's always good to see old friends at the Finals and during the season.  At my age I've made a lot of friends over the years, and I feel lucky to still be able to get to the games and cheer the guys on.

One criticism of the process.  The IHSAA may consider starting the games at 11am as it got real late on us last night.  I didn't get home until after midnight, and I live relatively close to LOS, maybe 20 minutes away at the most.  I would never suggest shortening the after game ceremony because the teams deserve that.

The biggest downer is that the football season is over.  It will be a long dry spell for us.  This season seemed to fly by.  I hope to be back in the stands in August, and I hope to see a lot of Irish fans out there too.

One more thing.  I'd like to give a shout out to the Irish bagpiper, Robert Wood.  He adds a very unique touch to the Irish, leading them on the field before the games.

I feel a nap coming on!

I got a propsle that would actually make it more likely that Cathedral wins more state titles and would stop the late night game for you. Ihsaa could created a PP class for the P/Ps and the championship game would be the first game at 9am. I would be 100% behind this win win for Cathedral.

Indiana weather never seems to disappoint come championship weekend and makes one quite enjoy the dry, climate-controlled atmosphere of LOS.

Playing on turf for a big game is just a ihsaa conspiracy against Cathedral because they believe that big games should be played in the mud at a stadium that has a great tradition such as Arlington middle school.

Making this even scarier, rumor has it CG was down 2-3 studs.

    @Grover, can you confirm?

I think it ended up to be only one, sort of. RB Drew wheat  that has rushed for  987 yds, 7.8 avg per carry this season was put in the game in third Quarter for a few plays and had only 2 carries.

This is not counting CB Cincinnati commit that has been lost for the season.

Bob...I was funnin' and I actually know most of these....I would have never broken one of criteria in the 6 categories you included back in my day....😜

Its my opinion (and that's worth nothing) is that the photo illustrates contact...while it may not be PI as you define above, I am not sure that IF the call was missed, that I would place it in the AWFUL category.  There is contact, the ball is coming down toward the receiver.  I can easily see how an official would see #2....and as you state we don't see the continuation of the play to determine the extent of #2 or if any other of the categories you mention vere violated.

I just struggle placing the PI call based on what I see as AWFUL.  Missed?  Perhaps.  But if it were missed, I could understand why.

I really did not want this to be a PI debate. It was the use of term awful that bothered me. I totally agree that nothing can be judged by one picture because I could have just shone the interception frame and from that frame it look like a terrible call. So since this has become a debate I will express my opinion that the official probably used #6 to make his decision. The pass was a couple of feet offline and the receiver tried to adjust and that is when contact was made causing the receiver from being able to move toward the pass. So by the time the ball came down the defender was in position to make the interception.

True. Especially since it was a judgement call. I'll rephrase it to a "very questionable call." I just remember watching the game Week 4 & that stood out to me.

But back to tomorrow night's game, I wonder if Wheat will be healthy enough to be his usual explosive self. That kid has turned into an absolute dude throughout the season.

Yes Wheat is the biggest question that I have. Mid season I had a debate at who would be a bigger lost QB1 or Wheat. Still undecided

The defensive player has as much right to the ball as the offensive player in that situation. Can we see the video rather than a still shot?

I did not say that it was a correct call or not, I am not a Referee and never could even imagine doing that job.  I really did not want to start a debate about one call. I guest I just don't like the term awful used towards officials making split second judgment calls.

It seems the IHSAA is trying to make up for the lost revenue from last year.  Tickets for the semi state are $10 ea. with a $1.50 service charge for each ticket.  It is through an IHSAA site, that everyone must use to purchase tickets in advance.  There will be tickets sold at the gate, and this seems to be a thriftier way of gaining admission.  That is if the gate price is the same as the advance price.

Anyway, we'll be there!  GO IRISH!!!!

Semi State tickets have been 10$ since 2016 and the processing fee is going to Huddle Tickets not IHSAA so they are not making any more money than recent years.

Now if you are looking for someone that is trying to recover revenue you don't have to look farther than Cathedral. They charged 9$  for a regular season home game plus if tickets were bought on line there was a processing fee of over a dollar.

  12. Well I am not going against a teem that 7 out of 11 games have had a running clock at halftime or early third quarter. IN the last CG vs LN  game at half CG was winning 36-6 and with 10 minutes left in the third quarter went up 43-6.  CG defense is just incredible and they held Cooper to 5 Rec 45 Yds and  Richardson had 20 Car  70Yds (I think most came during running clock)

    CG 42,  LN 14

No kidding!  Cathedral coach made a mistake, I am sure they learned from it in a meaningless JV game.  I am long time Cathedral fan and I am at peace with the deal.  Move on.

Windy tonight, should make passing game interesting both sides with +30mph winds.

Tailgating will start by 4PM. Come early as PARKING SUCKS at Tech,

What is the popular beer at Cathedral tailgates?
