It’s gonna be interesting when someone new to the forum comes on here later this year and in the future and says
”Gibson southern should play tougher competition” and the GS fans reply
“We tried!!! We really did!”

I personally dont think the SIAC got that much better with the addition of Jasper and Vinn. It just got eaiser on the Athletic Directors in reguards to scheduling. SIAC would have still been one of the best conferances south of Indy without the addition. Speaking from a selffish aspect I sure would have loved seeing the kid from GS playing in the SIAC his last two years of high school if he is as good as the say he is.
I think a lot of people were wanting to see that too. As per collegefootballtoday Brady is ranked as the #1 QB and #13 overall for the class of 2022. It’s still early though and rankings are always changing.
But I don’t think anyone in the Evansville area is going to miss out on seeing him play. GS has been getting plenty of publicity/coverage since 2012

Leave the PAC like it is. These small schools dont wan’t a 4a school in there conference especially in football. Didn’t GS drop Boonville a few years ago so they could schedule better competition. Boonville needs to step up and play the big boys in football, they are most likley playing them in all the other sports.
GS did. I believe we dropped them after 2014 and replaced them with Henderson County who is now being replaced this year and next with Southport

A few years ago Gibson Southern lost their QB in week 9 to a broken collarbone fighting (and succeeding) to win the conference championship game.....I think the following week we faced Evansville memorial in the first round and lost by a touchdown. i think this was 2016

Adding the remaining four teams could make for an interesting PAC.
The PAC could still have a Big School division and Small School division
Big School
1. Booneville 2. Washington 3. Princeton 4. Gibson S 5. HH 6. Mount Vernon
Small School
1. Pike Central 2. Southridge 3. Forest Park 4. North Posey 5. South Spencer 6. Tell City
Each school could play 5 regular division games. Week 9 could be a Cross over game between teams that place the same in their respective divisions.(The 1 seed from the Big School division would play the 1 seed in the small school division and so on) That leaves teams with 3 out of conference dates to schedule up or schedule down based on what each team needs.
The issue i see with a crossover week is teams need to work their schedule to make sure weeks 7&8 are non conference games so that there is “enough” time to organize the games for week 9.

So how's Gibson feel about Boonville dropping out at the last minute thus preventing your move to the SIAC? You two were a package deal just like VL/Jasper.
I told everyone Jasper was a "No" for the PAC merger but people wanted to pretend it was missing ADs. VL didn't want to get left behind so they agreed to follow Jasper instead of trying to force their hand. VL wanted stability, and this route was chosen by their Principal.
Just as they were gaining momentum with football. Hopefully the sectional realignment stays for a long time because I'm not seeing many conference titles in their future.
I feel like GS was for both the PAC/BIG8 merger and joining the SIAC. I think the big thing was getting a tougher conference schedule and I’m sure the other PAC schools were largely for this too.
Boonville dropping out i think makes it tough now because really the SOS doesn’t change too much outside of boonville being added....just play slightly larger schools...
at this point i think GS wants to join the SIAC because the hopes of a beefed up schedule for the PAC is now pretty much gone.
The biggest losers of this are teams like princeton, north posey, south Spencer
-
GS is probably really hoping for booneville or another school to join the SIAC because as it stands now, almost all the hopes and desires of creating a tougher conference schedule just fell through.

Is this still a football only thing or has it morphed into an all-sports thing with a possibility of 2 or 4 schools joining the SIAC as an all-sports package?
My thoughts too

Freudian slip?
Or are you finally ready to admit what we’ve known all along?
I mean. Consider the PAC/BIG 8 Kings Landing and the SIAC Daenerys lol

Woah 4 schools?
I was only hearing 10 schools total, so 2 additions....this would remove all out of conference scheduling and this would be a merger for all sports.
i also am reading here 1 PAC school is rumored. Is it really anyone but GS. The combination of geographic location, Enrollment, and success across all sports would imply it would be GS

Well, Indiana has been talking about how this is a problem for years. When are they going to do something about it?? I know teachers that have been in for 5-10 years and are still making less than 40K per year. Indiana's leaders should be embarrassed about this, lets see some pro-active measures to address this before it gets worse. They are losing teachers and funneling money from public schools to the private schools thanks to Pence and his crooked buddy Tony Bennett.
I’m not totally sure about the public/private school part...but yes. When are they going to address this issue.
Ultimately, it’s our friends children, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and children that are hurt most by this. They deserve the best they can get and by underpaying educators, classrooms become more packed and the number of quality educators and role models thins.
In many ways, the issue is exponential and will only get worse until there is a breaking point.

I’m not sure moving to the SIAC is the best move for jasper or GS I see the argument....but I’m just like meh.
The only positive i see out of it is there are no more “well if you played a SIAC schedule” or “team x is better than team Y via transitive property”

Eastern Greene is going through one heckuva athletic department situation. Not much is known other than people jumping ship over there...so not a big surprise to see someone join Coach P at north.
I think the Central coach who was hired has his work cutout for him though. Plenty of talent still. Should be a contender this year

Very cool story.
but...don’t think Gibson Southern is going to give ya a break when it comes to repeating this every 20 year pattern 😉😉😉

Don't be surprised if the Big 8 screws this up.
I have a feeling most teams want this to happen. I think the proposal is a big win for all teams involved at this point.

Even with the "mercy rule" now taking effect once the 35 point differential threshold has been reached, the 40 seconds play clock will still run normally. So, besides running the game clock between a touchdown being scored and the kickoff how much time are we really eliminating since you still have to snap the ball every 40 seconds?
You can really eat up a lot of time If I had to guess it would be anywhere from 30 minutes to a little bit over an hour in time saved for a game. Which doesn’t seem like much but the difference for families/teams driving back home at 8:30/9:00 and 9:30/10:00 is a worthwhile goal for games like this.
Ultimately it just depends on the game though. Some JV teams can come in and still score with ease and will bust off huge runs while others will purposely run plays geared at 4 yards a play and just try to get out of there

Imagine if we lived in a world where you could have meetings from a variety of different places and have everyone else’s face on a tv screen to ask any question you would like.
its a bummer that we live in a world that lacks a means to communicate to the point the only way you could possibly be well informed on anything would be to wait until just before a meeting to tell everyone you need clarifications on things.
🙄🙄🙄

I know the travel issue is a complaint, but it will be neat to see some new matchups with the new sectionals.
I agree. On one hand it’s like “come on....”. But on the other a lot of sectionals have new opponents and different styles they will have to face. Should be interesting

Gibson Southern was behind Charlestown 49-21 at halftime in the 2012 sectional and came back to win 57-49, Not 35 points but real close.
If I recall correctly, at the time it was the largest comeback in Indiana history. That was until I believe center grove made a 35 point swing in 2016 or something.
As for Gibson Southern comeback....we started off the 2nd half stupid lucky. A squib kick blasted a kid in the head and bounced right back to us on the opening 2nd half kickoff. We also were coming off of back to back overtime wins and facing a team who had not played a competitive game all year and rested their starters in every 2nd half. Crazy game.
Still remember telling their diehard “the side lion” his team wasn’t conditioned for 4 Qtrs of play and he scoffed at the idea that it mattered lol
Big 8 will be down to 6 teams.

I’m not saying VL isn’t worthy. They are a solid school....but the SIAC is going to drive right by GS every time they go to play in Vincennes lol
