  1. I think the 2015 really put a can in all of that when they went toe to toe with chatard.  Heritage hills has long let that ship sail too since that jay cutler state championship

of which. Every time I look at that HH season i just struggle to comprehend how they were able to win all those games. What that team did will likely never be repeated in terms of how big of a mountain they climbed

  2. Trick question the 5’10 kid is the TE in a run based offense who basically plays line lol

in all seriousness would lean towards the strength but regardless of either, if 1 kid doesn’t know the playbook as well and has bad technique, the other kid will start.

I know for a fact that that many teams in high school have a big kid who is on the sidelines. I’ve seen where a 6’5 300lb kid is on the sidelines over 5’11 kids and I’m sure it comes down to the 5’11 kid just simply does a better job.

YMCA I disagree with Jasper over the hill. They have a couple.500 seasons and their done?

Just asking....so are GS fans now of the belief that regular season SOS is beneficial?

I don’t think Gs fans have ever felt that’s SoS isn’t beneficial. But ya know...it gets old when you read and hear “you don’t play anybody” especially when the program is trying their best to work with the schedule they have.

Why do you see Jasper as a loser here?  Are you saying they have always enjoyed being a big fish in a little pond?

Now this is just my humble opinion but the last few years I personally believe are something to be of a bigger picture so to speak.  I have the gut feeling jasper is over the hill already and this  change will make it more difficult for them to comeback to being the top dog.  Just my opinion

If 4 of the big 8 teams are losers in the proposal, why would they want it?

Outside of what I said about jasper just above, Princeton, Washington, and Mt. Vernon all just make their schedules that much harder. Adding Gibson Southern and Heritage Hills to the mix(granted Princeton and GS already play each other).

Maybe im seeing this the wrong way in that a tougher schedule helps these teams...regardless. Those 4 teams have find another gear if they wish to compete with how the other teams are doing

But hey you know what they say...opinions are like ________. Everyone’s got one. Maybe mine stinks? Lol

Sadly, I would have to agree with that assessment in regards to football over the last decade. Boonville and VL have seen somewhat of a resurgence the past two seasons, but neither have a sectional title in that time. Jasper and MC have been a shell of their 2000’s selves, and MV, Princeton, Washington are consistently bad (save for a mediocre campaign here or there).

It goes without saying that this potential merger would only help Big 8 teams with SOS. And if you’re GS, HH, SR you have to like the idea of trading SS, PC, TC for Jasper, Lincoln, Boonville.

Technically SR would keep that schedule.

For the most part though, at least for me, it’s hit and miss with who I like and who i don’t.

    My personal opinion....

i think the proposal helps the likes of a lot of teams.  Namely Tell City who always seems to be on the cusp of a team that could do great things.

Pike central and forest park I think will love this too. I’m sure pike central would appreciate not being a homecoming stomping for some teams and would like to find some middle ground.  Forest park I think would too.

Im not sure on south Spencer. Personally love their true to heart football field with no track. But I understand that they may wish to move to a smaller school schedule that fits them more.

Southridge i think wins big with this.

Heritage hills and GS win and lose. They get an upgrade in SoS and that bodes well for the two teams with how successful they have shown to be. On the other hand, maybe not in the immediate future but the future none the less, what may happen if the programs have an off year. What will the fans think?  Will there be cries for going back?

just a quick list as what I think rolls out of this if it happens

    winners:

Gibson Southern, Heritage Hills, Vincennes, Booneville, Southridge, Tell city

    losers:

    Princeton, Washington, Jasper, Mt Vernon

I'm sorry, I don't know names, in no particular order, all impressed me as freshmen last season:

    Soph at Lawrenceburg

    Soph at Bloomington North

    Soph at Gibson Southern

The soon to be sophomore at GIbson Southern is Brady Allen. Already holds 4 D1 offers and has visited numerous colleges

Gibson Southern returns a lot of the offense including 3 good WRs and a RB who is emerging as both a ball carrier and pass catcher. I’m not entirely sure about the 2020 and 2021 seasons in terms of talent at the other positions but this 2019 season should be a very well oiled machine on offense. Might be a special year with how much talent is on the offense.

Either Chatard or Tri-West.  Based on the distain the IHSAA has for the P&Ps...my guess is this would be a great opportunity to get Chatard back in the same sectional with Brebeuf and Guerin.

    Thanks for the clarification.

@Screagle I’m not actually trying to make an argument out of reitz and it’s schedule just trying to get a reitz chest pumper to chill out for a second lol.

Soooo....Gibson Southern won’t play anyone in the regular season or Sectionals?  Good grief.

Memorial & Heritage Hills out of that sectional is hilarious.

I can’t recall off the top of my head, but I would think Southport would be the toughest opponent reitz would face if they played them in 2019

From what I saw in the Sectional championship game, I believe Rivals.com needs to pump the brakes a little bit, although I get what those kinds of services and websites are about, especially if you are paying for premium services.  He is a very good QB for a freshman, has great size, potential, and upside (a a heck of a work ethic) and should be getting the offers he's getting, but he isn't anywhere close to being able to start for a college football team at this point.  He's 15 and doesn't have enough snaps under his belt for anyone to legitimately make that kind of claim.  In a year or two he will be scary good, assuming there are guys around him who can make plays, which I expect will be the case.

Oh I agree with you....that’s why I said rivals stated it lol. I don’t pay for rivals or 247 or any of those. Just occasionally browse.  Always interesting to see how they view some players.

This is not a knock on the Allen kid at all, but from just following things on social media, I don't see how he would have time to play basketball.  It seems like he is doing something every weekend (combine, visit, etc.) and more power to him.  Take the scholarship from the school that is the best fit and hopefully won't treat him like a piece of meat, get the degree and see what doors open after that.

From what I’ve seen it looks like he has most of his spring and summer planned out already too.

Elite11, the opening, combines, 7on7s...probably will attend a few team camps also.  Someone mentioned on here he is keeping his basketball skills up to par (whatever par is for him lol) just in case but from what I have gathered he is training 365 days a year to be an absolute superstar QB for high school and presumably the college level. I know rivals.com already stated he looks like he should be starting on a college team.

sky is the limit for the kid, but you really have to admire the amount of dedication and commitment he is putting in at such a young age

  11. In this proposal would tecumseh return to the PAC for football?

Otherwise you could do two divisions of 7

regarding 2020. I only assume they would wait until then because changing the entire schedule for everyone would mess up non conference scheduling the way it is.

Originally I was against this idea but seeing the enrollment numbers I’m warming up to the idea.

The definition of tripping is intentionally using the lower part of your leg or foot to trip an opponent. Previously the runner was excluded but now they are. It very rarely happened when it was legal so I doubt we'll see it now either.

    1 hour ago, Bobref said:

There's already a definition of tripping in the rule book, since it's always been a foul to trip anyone other than the runner. And it's not vague at all. It's an intentional act that involves striking below the knee with the lower leg.

Thank you guys for the clarification. I, and I’m sure many others here, appreciate you guys.

I think there needs to be a standardized mercy rule. When I was in Florida it kicked in with a 35 point lead and went back out to standard timing if the lead dropped below 35. Everyone knew how the clock was going to play out and there was no debate nor arguments about .

I am in South Carolina now. We had a team ask for it last year when we were up 21. They got the ball after the half and scored on the first drive. Their head coach still wanted the running clock, the officials wanted the clock to go back to normal timing rules, our head coach just wanted to know what the heck was going on.

When I was in Indiana, we played a team and won 74-6. It was an away game three hours away so we only dressed 30 players. The other team's coach refused the running clock and we ran dive every single play with our worst skill player and it still got out of hand. Without a rule you are asking a head coach to agree to what many feel like is giving up. A lot of guys won't do it because they don't want to quit on the kids or they don't want their community to feel like they gave up on the kids.

I would be open to many different solutions, but I think there needs to be a standard that everyone understands and I think the solution takes has automatic indicators so it's not left to human judgement.

I’m in agreement with taking it out of being a choice. 35 points seems fair to me. If you have a coach choose you will have a number of issues. Some coaches as you said won’t want to give up on their team, or be perceived as doing such and others will refuse because they will want to play all their seniors.

Just make it a set rule out of control of anyone on the field at the time. The refs will have to enforce it and cannot change it and the coaches will have to accept it.

There are drawbacks from this of course but from what I have seen, the majority of the time if a team is refusing to run the clock it’s because the coach doesn’t want to give up or wave the white flag and it only makes the outcome that much more worse

Opinions are good! Not sure Castle can get back on top. I’ve thought for the last few years they would be top 3 easily. But they do have some nice players coming back.

I have rarely watched a Lewis coached  team. Will they continue to be run heavy or  use the pass game more?

QB play in the PAC could be as good as I can recall. Allen, Montgomery, and Sigler are special athletes.

All three are great QBs. Although....a small PAC joke going around right now is Allen needs to get more rushing yards if he wants to be named all conference 😂😂😂

  15. I’ve heard that castle is suppose to be pretty good this year. Also heard central will still be good.

I think memorial will be back in 3A in 2 years...they had a special class these last few years.  If they can keep up that level of play, that would be an incredible feat.

PAC wise, I think GS, HH, and SR could all play with and beat anyone in the SIAC....although if the PAC played the SIAC schedule, I highly doubt anyone finishes better than 7-2 for the regular season. Just my opinion

BIG 6 wise....jasper is a team to watch...not that they will be a great team, but a team to watch to see how they respond this year.  Will they get back to their winning tradition?  Or are the over the hill and we don’t realize it yet?  Vincennes like mentioned above is a bubble team. Very capable.  Don’t know anything about booneville. Princeton could always make it interesting. They are simply not the same team that we all have known them for from the 2000s and early 2010s

If I had to do a top 10 for a way to early preseason based on only what I have heard

    1. Castle

    2. Central

    3. GIbson Southern

    4. Reitz (haven’t heard anything but its reitz)

    5. Heritage Hills

    6. Jasper

    7. Southridge

    8. Memorial

    9. Vincennes

    10. Mater Dei

just a bunch of my opinions. Don’t read into it too much lol

Considering he will be a national recruit, I would say those school you listed are not focused on QBs who just finished their freshman year.   Michigan can wait.  So can OSU and Wisconsin.

Oh I believe it. Purdue might be on the bubble though and might break into a national spotlight.

But I agree. He’s so young, most of the big powerhouses will likely wait another year or 2, assuming they have an interest and need for a QB of course

  17. I was kinda shocked to hear he wasn’t playing basketball this year.  Everything I had heard indicated he would be a higher D-1 basketball talent, I believe there was some bigger AAU thing in New Orleans or something that said “Sky is literally the limit”.

Love that he is playing football though 🙂

Truly just a gifted kid. But he is only 15 so he still is growing and has a lot to develop. He has a great future ahead of him.
