HNAC Week #1
trojan474 replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Haven't heard yet. Looks like they lost their starting QB to a knee injury this week too. The hits are coming hard for them this week. I doubt they will play, but I read where Penn had a player test positive and they are still playing Friday because the kid hadn't been around any players since Sat. -
Female football players

We had one last year, played a little bit on offense on JV. Not here this year, not sure where she moved to. -
HNAC Week #7

Triton wore those against Caston. When my son wore his to school, he wore my Combat Infantry Badge on it. I thought it was pretty awesome that the Guard does this for the kids. -
Targeting/ Illegal Contact to the Head on Kickoff

Ok. That's what I thought. I appreciate the help and clarification. -
Targeting/ Illegal Contact to the Head on Kickoff
trojan474 replied to trojan474's question in Officiating Forum
I understand what you are saying, but I am trying to get clarity on if the personal foul on the kicking team. (pretend there is no personal foul on the R team.) If the kicking team commits the personal foul on the kick (no R team penalty) and recovers the fumble, will the kicking team receive the ball and be marked the penalty at the start of their offensive possesion or would it they be penalized and rekicked? -
Targeting/ Illegal Contact to the Head on Kickoff
trojan474 replied to trojan474's question in Officiating Forum
I understand as it left me confused as well. I guess I went about it the long way in describing the whole scenario.. So what would be the correct call on that play be? Or maybe there is no correct call, being it such a weird play. I am not trying to bash the officials in anyway. They did a fine job. I was just looking for clarification because it was just an odd set of circumstances. -
Targeting/ Illegal Contact to the Head on Kickoff
trojan474 replied to trojan474's question in Officiating Forum
I wish it happened at my school and then I could have a little better of understanding of what happened but we were visitors and I am just a spectator trying to figure out what happened because the coaches and my son, a player, didn't really get a good explanation. I think they were just happy to get the ball back. -
Targeting/ Illegal Contact to the Head on Kickoff

I get what you are saying. But the ball went the required 10 yards. The receiving player was attempting to retrieve the ball and nearly had his head taken off. The kicking team recovered the ball. If no penalty was called, it definitely was the kicking teams ball. But the foul was called and and announced as illegal contact to the head/targeting. They mark off 15 yards from the spot of the foul and give the ball to the kicking team. The coaches of the receiving team are confused and ask for clarification. I believe because it probably should have been a rekick, in my limited knowledge. The officials then get together and then signal offsetting penalties for personal fouls and give the receiving team the ball at the spot of the foul. I think the confusion is where the other personal foul came in because it was never called in the first place. It was called after the fact even after the kicking teams offense was getting ready to take the field again. -
Question: During the Friday's game, Team 1 went for an onside kick. The Team 2 player went down to recover the ball and was hit in the head by a Team 1 player. The Team 1 player lead with the head, it was pretty clear. Team 1 recovered the ball and a personal foul was called. The initial call gave Team 1 the ball and marked off the 15 yrds from the recovery of the kick. There was some major confusion. Officials huddled, and decided to give Team 2 the ball at the spot of the recovery and did not mark off any yards for the penalty. They signaled offsetting personal fouls on both teams, even though Team 2 was never signaled for a foul to begin with. I am still confused on what would have been the correct handling of the call.

HNAC Week #5
trojan474 replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Triton continues to shoot themselves in the foot. We moved the ball well against Culver, close to 400 yards of offense on a limited number of possessions, but could not capitalize on anything. Too many turnovers, 3 picks and 1 lost fumble. Lost an onside kick at the beginning of the 2nd half when we were down 21pts. I think we only punted once. We were able to move the ball on the ground pretty well, but had to rely on the pass in the second half due to being down by 3-4 touchdowns and couldn't connect. Some were great defensive plays by Culver, others were simply forced or missed passes. It was very frustrating to watch, because we are not as bad as we played. Our line played better than at Bremen and had less penalties. Hopefully we will have our best O and D lineman back this week. Culver played to their strength. Pounding the ball with their running back linemen. 😉 lol, and then popping it outside with King. We went with a heavier, slower defense, trying to limit the inside run game, and had them stopped on a few occasions and Culver would go on two and we would jump, giving them a first down. So frustrating. -
HNAC Week #3

Triton pretty much dominated. Triton had 222 yards passing and 125 rushing. Caston was 96 yards in passing and 8 rushing yards. McIntyre had 80 yards rushing 2 TDs. Shumpert has 152 receiving yards and 2TDs -
HNAC Week #3

I'll obviously go with Triton over Caston, as for the rest..Knox, Judson, and Winamac. Game of the week will be Pioneer-Laville. After what I saw last week, I pick Laville with the close win. They lost a lot from last year, but they sure did not look like it. I was really impressed with their speed and power. They were really laying on some hits. I know Pioneer will bring it as well. I kinda wish we had a bye or some thing this week so I could go watch this game. -
HNAC Week #2
trojan474 replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'm not sure Triton should have lost last week. They were picked to lose by several people, but ended up playing a great 3 1/2 quarters. I felt we subbed in too early and had poor clock management in the last 8 minutes that lead to the comeback. If our defense plays well like they have, I think it may be a close game. Laville is still probably a favorite though. For the rest it will be Judson, Culver, Knox, and Pioneer. -
I don't think having Younis back at the helm will change the schemes as much as the change of personnel. Younis was the offensive coordinator the last few years under Brown. I do not think the passing attack will be the same, but we are returning a few starters and last years leading rusher.

It’s been announced that Younis, if approved by the school board, will become head coach again. I am very happy about this fir the reasons stated by Fine Print above.

My son grew up hating football. He was involved in other more academic type groups through most of elementary. He was avid in the Pokémon cards 😂. But I made him go to a 3 day after school football skills type camp in 3rd grade. I told him that I was making him go but after this if he he didn’t like it I wouldn’t make him try football anymore. I resigned myself to my only son not playing football and I was ok with that. Sorta. Lol. Fast forward 3 yrs and a friend of his talked him into trying it. When he told me that he was going to play in 7th grade, I almost fainted. He learned quickly and played well. Finishing up his sophomore year, He’s done well and loves the game. That being said, I would have lived and supported anything that he would’ve chosen had he not chose to play.
