A little, yes.   My response is based on a fairly long history of conversations with young Mr. Kendrick on previous iterations of the GID.

I think it's a no brainer... Division I college assistant coach or High School varsity coach?  If he truly wants to make Coaching a profession, then I think the choice is obvious.

WEBO seems to be returning quite a bit.  Could they be better next year than they were this year?

Hard to tell if they will be better, Webo lost 13 Seniors... It will be different... Not many 2A teams can do what Webo did last year and 2 platoon... Very few kids played both ways and those that did, weren't full time players both ways.

A few quick questions regarding the GC program?

What are the primary components of the overall strategy to get this program up off the mat and heading back in the right direction?

Is there any football talent currently in the school?

Is program awareness in the halls growing as a result of the coaching change?

Have you had an opportunity to assess the feeder and youth systems?

Will you be making any changes to the uniforms?

What are your initial goals for the program?

    Is the community involved?

Is the administration following thru on the commitments they made to support the program rebuild?

Is GC planning on remaining in the HHC for the long term?

What was it that drew you to this opportunity?

So.... Did you take the baton back or what?

No Head Coach is going to answer all of these questions on an internet board... Or answer them to someone who is outside his community.

How do you assess the feeder/youth systems in January?  Come on, Man!

Webo will need some receivers to step up. Other than Kernodle, they lose the rest.  Cortez and Hole will probably have to go both ways.  On defense, obviously Weakley will be tough replace along with Deetz and Shallenbarger.

Danville will have to figure out who is QB.  Stevens will be a junior and he was solid on the JV.  They’ll have Schubert at RB.  They return some youth on defense with Wooten and Dutra.  They lose 3 good Offensive linemen.

Tri-West will need to figure out the OL situation. Lost 3 starters and a backup to graduation.  Replacing Van Slyke and his production will be difficult.  I’m guessing Hendershot will fill some of that role.  Defense should be set.  Lost 2 starting safeties.  But lots of experience returning on D.  Ross, Cora, West, Covey, Depinet, Saylor, Catt, Hogan all returning starters.

Not sure on rest of conference.

Garrity who will be a Jr. should see some action at TE, I could see Blake Culley & Mitch Miller as a slot/receiver.  Casey Baird & Elliot Young also.  Wethington, Cortez, Hole, Josh Benson, Luke Marsh, Freeman are back defensively.  There are pieces in the current Freshman/Sophomore class that got a lot of playing time last year that will step up... And the incoming Freshman class is REALLY good.

As a society we are not very patient, if things do not improve overnight then we want change.  I still believe it takes close to 7 years to build a program.  You have to get the youth program on board, and the middle school teams implementing your system.  It takes time and if you do not have enough success they pull the plug or a school board member comes after you.  Coaching is tough and the days of seeing one coach at a school for a long period of time is not common anymore.

I believe the HS Coach HAS to be involved with the Youth Program.

I assume this has been discussed on here before, but the two Elkhart high schools (Central and Memorial) are due to merge starting for the 2020 season which is the 2nd season of this classification.  Each high school has about 1600 students and should be in 5A for next season.  Combined in 2020, their attendance would be in the top 10 in the state and put them solidly in 6A.

How is this going to be handled?

If I remember correctly, they will remain in 5A until the next cycle.
