Tri West enrollment may be growing but I’d imagine Danville and Lebanon’s enrollments will vastly surpass Tri-West’s. Whitestown is one of the fastest growing areas of the state and it is within Lebanon district lines. Avon is slowly starting to resemble Wayne Twp more and more and Avon residents are heading west.

Residents... The Students have been flocking west for several years if not 10 or more.

Tri-West?  Really?  What do they stand to gain from this conference?

I'm assuming this means the venerable Sagamore Conference, which only had Tri-West, Danville, and Lebanon remaining,  will now dissolve?  What a waste.

No Muda... Lebanon and Danville are joining Harrison and McCutcheon as the Sagamore.  Tri-West was supposed to join but have opted to join the new conference.

Saw someone wanted this topic, so here we go. Obviously some new faces coming up in Adams Central and Lutheran. Could make a very strong case for both being able to represent the North and South in 2A if they were there the last two years. Interesting to see how they fair this year. Plenty of representatives from both schools on here, so I'll let them talk about what they have returning. As far as the North goes, I like Bluffton, LCC, and you can't ever rule out Andrean for the North. Obviously not sure what Adams Central has, but they should be in that mix as well just because of what they have been able to accomplish the last two years. If I had to pick dark horses, I'd go with Eastside, Eastbrook, and Rochester in the North. All run offenses that seem to fair well no matter the conditions and always have solid defenses to go with it. Maybe someone can chime in on the South favorites or teams to watch. No Mater Dei in the South takes a huge contender out of the mix down there. What do y'all think?

Look at the sectional that LCC is in... A very familiar name when it comes to 2A... 😉

I believe what he is saying is that less than 32 teams would devalue a championship. 5A and 6A have 32 currently and have a much less of a chance at shutting down a program before the season begins or not being able to finish because of injury. 1A could begin with 32 and be at 28 by the end of a two year cycle. I know a few years ago (2021?) we had at least two 1A schools shut the program down right before the season began. It's not a ridiculous thing to consider.

Last year (2023)... Traders Point dropped to 8 man football.

My only surprise is he’s going back as Associate HC not the Head Coach. Maybe this is a transition year for Morrel and Gilbert?

Coach Gilbert is a great coach, Best of Luck!

That's exactly what it is.  It says in the article that Coach Gilbert will become the Head Coach at Wabash in the Fall of 2025.

Muda you’ve been screaming for over a decade that Frankfort should leave the Sagamore, and now that they have you are complaining about that. After 20 years of listening to you I think it might actually be possible that you just like to complain, and that you dont actually care about the issues you rage against. 😜

I almost typed this exact same thing.

Yuck.   Fighting to keep the Sagamore Conference name should have been the first choice.

They LEFT the Sagamore... They made the choice.  If they would have voted to kick out the other 3 then they would have kept the name.  It's not rocket science, Muda.

I believe the approved bid was $1.2M.  The important thing to know when discussing Sheridan is that this will also solve an issue that has been going on for at least the past 20+ years, the soccer field not being on campus.  By adding turf, not only are drainage and upkeep issues that currently exist on the football field resolved, but now the soccer games will be played on campus, which is a win for security purposes.  Also, now the band will be able to practice somewhere that isn't the asphalt parking lot.

As will baseball and softball when it is wet on those fields and perhaps the youth football as well.  We utilize ours for a variety of things not just football or soccer.

For my broadcasting sake, I pray neither.  LOL!  Endzones will look really nice though, I imagine.  I haven't seen any drawings.  Personally, I hope it's a big S at the 50, with one red endzone and one black endzone.

LOL.  Would be brutal to play on if Black in August!  and probably tough with black jerseys.  I imagine it will be really nice when complete.  Hope yours doesn't have any delays like ours did a few years ago... Though I wouldn't mind playing week 1 at home! LOL.

And while we're on the topic... I know soccer people don't like the turf for soccer, I don't have a lot of opinion there....

For baseball/softball it's tremendous. Keeping the batters boxes level probably being the biggest.

Very few rainouts, and "true" hops to fielders as well.

It would seem that, but also realize that SF is going to a rolling cycle as opposed to aligning with the sectional re-alignment schedule, so some teams will be re-assigned to sectionals in off two-year cycles too.  The number of teams being re-assigned via SF will likely be no more than the number of 8-man teams moving to 11-man in off two-year cycles, so I don't see it being a huge issue ... especially given that there's now already [soon-to-be] precedence for dealing with a team in off two-year cycles.

I meant more around enrolment realigning sectionals.  The SF realignment will be minimal (maybe a few teams each year).

A team that started in 8-man last season ... first time ever having football in the history of the school ... has already announced that they are going to be playing 11-man next season.  IHSAA has traditionally had a "cushion" season or two where new programs to the 11-man ranks aren't eligible for the post-season tournament, so that might well solve the issue.  There's also the situation where you typically have to play x number of games in a season to be eligible for the post-season tourney.  I think the aforementioned team that's switching isn't going to have a full season next year and won't be in the post-season tourney.

If the sectionals are going to align every 2 years it would make sense that 8-man teams also should play 8-man schedules for 2 years...
