Sometime in Mid December or 2nd week of December

Meeting usually within first few days in December, well the IFCA meeting for Coaches IFCA ALL STATE (which I am biased but a far better representation of All State teams then AP).

Once its done it will roll out the following:

IFCA TOP 50:  You just make this list to be considered from the MR. FOOTBALL Position Awards.  Then a vote will happen to elect 1 player for each position to be "Mr. Football" for that position, QB, RB, WR, OL etc etc etc.

Once that is one:  They Move on to SENIOR and Underclassman CLASS ALL STATE TEAMS.   ***NOTE *****. IF YOU MAKE top 50, YOU CANNOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR INDIVIDUAL CLASS TEAM.  Example, BOWEN from Andrean last year, won LB position award, so he was NOT eligible to be on 2a All State team.

MR. FOOTBALL:   Once all 9 I believe positions have been elected, then any member of IFCA will get a ballot to cast their vote for Mr. Football.   I need to get studying soon, I have some thoughts but will need to see full list

Can you pin this when the teams come out?  EVERY YEAR someone posts about it...

Luers did play up for quite a while. They were 3A for years.  Luers also plays up all season long; they do not even see another 2A team until playoff time.

But... the thing about a small school is that one year you may have a whole stable of NFL players and the team could beat some college teams.  But...then for several (or eleven) years after that, you will get the normal, average, everyday-type-of-talented athletes.  I don't think anyone can look at the last eleven years and argue that Luers has been "too good" to be allowed to play in 2A.

The kids on that team this year worked hard and that is why they one.  They weren't clearly out-classing all of the other 2A teams... for crying outloud, most people I saw posting were picking N. Posey.  Even the sports journalists were pretty split on their predictions, with the N. Posey probably being given the edge... at least in the ones I saw/read.

So, even the "success factor" bump is potentially a little problematic.  So... you move up a team based on success-factor, and for the next couple of years, the young team that has to take over after that State Champ team graduates is outclassed and getting pummeled (and often injured because they still only actually have 2A enrollment and all the kids play both ways while their opponents from larger schools are not necessarily undergoing that stress and strain.)    I watched it happen, last time Luers got success-factored up.  The injuries jumped those seasons. Kids were getting hurt. And for what?  It isn't like we didn't understand the concept of graduation. We didn't think those seniors would be back for a fifth bite at the apple.  If they had, then "success factor" definitely should apply.  But everyone knew (or could have known) that the whole starting line-up was graduating.  We couldn't anticipate the young kids taking over those roles were not likely to be as successful? Or that they might get hurt playing two-ways if moved up a class?

Now -- I don't know that it would be the same problem this time.  Luers only graduates 12 seniors this year. So, a lot of this team will be back.  And there were a lot of juniors and a lot of sophomores already playing a lot of minutes this year. Maybe success factor would be a fair application in this year's case.

I don't know what next year looks like, but I'd expect that Luers should make a pretty deep run again when this year's sophomores are seniors.

Most small schools don't have a stable of NFL players... Most small schools have never had a player make it to the NFL... And no HS team (outside of IMG and those type of schools) is beating a college team.

Question.  What prevents any school system from having a solid, consistent youth program, from having intense and accountable off season weight and conditioning programs, from hiring great coaches, and establishing a tradition?   That's what has built Chatard.   Yes...it's now 40+ years old, but there is no advantage any community can't establish over time.   Granted,  it's built in to the CYO program, but there is also CYO basketball, and  Catholics don't dominate that sport at all.  Same w volleyball.   Chatard oppresses nobody.  They just have the best program in the state, but started (and lasted 30 years) it with facilities worse than the Junction Boys.   Only recently have they moved into the 21st century.

I think most small (3A and smaller) try this model.  I think we have a pretty good youth program, a REALLY good weight/conditioning program, and a really good coaching staff that are involved with all aspects of the program (from youth to Jr. High to High School).

What you don't probably see or understand is it's a numbers game.  Webo had about 100 tackle players this past year.  40 in 2nd/3rd, 36 in 4th/5th, and 22 in 6th grade.

Chatard didn't build the CYO program.  The success of Chatard, Brebeuf, Guerin, Cathedral, Scecina, Roncalli, Ritter, etc. all helped in building that program.  From that point, the kids then select where they want to attend HS.  I am sure the CYO program helps with that.  You get a group of kids that all want to play together, and they go to school together.  That is an advantage that small programs don't have.  We have who we have.  Some classes are larger, some have a few more athletes.  The CYO is a large organization.  To compare the youth league of the CYO to other 2A or 3A programs isn't comparing apples to apples.  The CYO draws kids from all over the city.  Webo draws from kids from Jamestown, Thorntown, Dover... Not exactly the same population as any "side" of the city.

Probably my most hated press box in all of my years of coaching.  The PA speaker was located right next to the visitors coaches box.  And it blared in your ear time entire game.  The windows were always dirty.  Sad I’ll never see the new one.  RIP crappy Frankfort press box.  However, I will miss the Frankfort announcer who I believe is retiring after this year.  Not hearing his voice at Case Arena will be different.  You got his name Muda?

Besides, that is if you actually agree with the findings of the Fire Department and insurance company.

Agree with SuperJay here... and Fire Dept and Insurance Company... As soon as I saw it on the news, I said electrical.  If you've been in the top of it, you would certainly understand.

    What is the fee?

    *Free.

Beginning with the Semi-State there is a charge.

"To see state finals events, viewers will need to download the free IHSAAtv app to their devices (e.g., a computer, phone or OTT/television appliance device) or visit IHSAAtv.org. The prices to view state finals contests will be the same as buying a ticket at the venue: generally $15 per game or $20 for an all-access pass. The IHSAAtv OTT app is available for Roku, Firestick, Apple TV, and Android Tv devices allowing fans watch in high definition on their televisions."

I honestly think Brownsburg has been the more consistent team which should account for something though I feel Ben Davis' ceiling is higher.  I JUST CANNOT pick Brownsburg to win this one, which is probably unfair to the kids on the current team.

They need to prove us all wrong and make a run... I am in the same boat... I WANT to pick them, I just can't

What was the reason given? Hamilton Heights' student run broadcast was approved for this week.

I guess it would be a great way to introduce cameras to Southern Indiana

Couldn't?  Or it wasn't in the school's budget to pay the fees to broadcast?

Just curious if it was a technical (equipment/people), legal, or financial reason as to why not.

That's fair.  We have the automated hudl camera that will push to youtube...not sure why we don't do that other than it's easy to turn on but not as easy to monetize.

I don't know the reason... I am guessing now that everything has to go through IHSAATV for broadcasting to ensure the IHSAA gets their money... It could be budgets, it could be legal, I am not sure.. I know Webo TV has broadcast nearly every game this season and when the tournament starts they don't anymore (or only do certain games).

I would guess the majority of schools have the Hudl Focus (the camera where you can livestream), but again IHSAA wants to control who can broadcast or they want their cut.

Looks like a business opportunity LOL

It would be... Except the IHSAA has to approve all broadcasts during the tournament... Western Boone has a student run TV station and has broadcast all the games this year via YouTube.  They were told that they couldn't broadcast this Sectional game.

Curious as to how all those neighboring schools enrollments are on the rise, yet WeBo's is not???

Well Danville was already a large 3A school, Lebanon a 4A.  Both are building several housing developments and I believe there is only 1 (small) housing development planned in Western Boone School District.  Danville currently have 3 or 4 going in as we speak.  Lebanon at least 2 and they have annexed a large amount of farmland where Eli Lilly is building a facility.  Will the Lilly facility bring growth to Webo?  Probably.  The facility is still a long way away from being complete.  Avon grew considerably in the last 20 years... That is starting to go West (Danville and Avon are just a few miles from each other).  Other than the farmers that have sold farm land for the Lilly/Tech park facility, farmers currently aren't selling ground for housing developments (not a lot of houses for sale either) and there aren't a ton of transfers coming West (away from Interstates and Indy).  Webo was 3A by 2 students after the last cycle (Webo's class of 23 was one of the biggest to go through).  I can tell you that as part of the Webo Youth Football League Board, our numbers were down across all divisions (Flag {K-1st}, Minor {2nd-3rd}, Major {4th-5th}, and 6th grade).
