The only "punishment" that we are talking about is the public punishment that we see as fans, missing a game.  There could be several levels of "punishment" to the players\students involved that we don't see or hear about, i.e., community work, fixing whatever they had done, formal apologies to whomever may have been affected by their actions, list can go on and on. I'm sure the coaching staff took this seriously as I'm sure the school itself did as well.  Just because they may be back on the field this week does not mean that the repercussions for their actions have ended.

As far as being at full strength, guess we'll find out tomorrow night.  Running clock either way.  Streak continues.

Interesting theory.  I had this same conversation earlier this week with a Purdue basketball fan after it was learned that Mason Gillis was only getting a 4 game suspension to start this upcoming college basketball season for a drunk driving incident this summer.  4 games (6 if you count 2 exhibition games which I don't) seemed light to me given the severity of his actions but they argued that we don't know what Coach Painter required of him off the court.  Personally, I think nothing hammers home the point to a player like missing games.  To his credit, Painter did suspend Gillis long enough that he would at least miss one real game on their schedule (North Carolina) but I'd have liked to have seen it be more in the 8-10 games range.  At least it was a bit better than going through the charade of suspending him right up until you have to play a meaningful game.  But when a player does something like Gillis did that shows a blatant disregard for other people, I believe serious consequences are justified.

Kokomo just announced they're looking for a game and willing to travel.

Not sure why this game wouldn't happen.  Both squads have played Western already.  Kokomo beat them 28-14 in week 1 and Western Boone lost a close one 28-26 in week 2.  Kokomo is the bigger school and would be favored, although I think it would be reasonably competitive, but playing any football game has to be better than not playing one at all.  Right??

Is this your attempt to talk about CIC football, or to prosecute teenagers or a coach, who you would have people believe is corrupt or criminal?  I question your motives with comments like this and others you’ve made in the past.

I'm just trying to figure out when Eastbrook will have all their players back.  An Eastbrook fan said they would be shorthanded last week.  I don't know all the details and I have no authority to "prosecute" anyone.  I think if Eastbrook has all their players, this game will end up with a running clock.  If not, maybe Alexandria can pull the upset.

Um.  I'm not the bad guy here.  I'm just curious how long they're going to be without those players.  I certainly have my opinion but am interested to see how Coach Adamson handles this.    Will it just be a token, one-or-two-game suspension or will it be taken seriously?

Is Ole Miss as bad as the score with Eastbrook indicates, or is Eastbrook that good? What has happened the last couple years at Ole Miss? Looked like they had a good 6-7 year stretch going , are they down talent wise?

Yes.  Looks like they are trying to build around the sophomore class.

eastbrook by 35 because I'm not sure anyone in 2a can compete, yes even Tipton with and OC that was a backup at wisconson.(of course the OC portion is hear say, so take it for what  is worth)

    1.  I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Tipton.

    2.  You do realize that Tipton is ranked 5th in both polls so even if you think you have them trumped, there are at least 3 other team ranked ahead of them in 2A other than Eastbrook that might stake claim to being able to "compete" with Eastbrook.  Frankly, until I see something different, 2A is Luers to lose.  They've already beaten two 6A teams that are in the Sagarin top 25 overall.  Maybe Andrean can compete with them.  But I think the question is more if Eastbrook can compete with Luers.  Personally, I doubt it.

I know Muda’s Weiners are improved but I think South Monts will win big. I swear to God they will

Maybe.  I just remember Frankfort won the game somewhat easily last season.  Things could have changed big time for either team or both since then but I would still not be surprised at all if Frankfort won.  Not necessarily predicting that, but it would not surprise me.

Because momentum in both recruiting and progress in each program is going in opposite directions and losing a top flight in-state recruit with Purdue ties to a rival school who historically hasn't recruited all that way would not have been a good look.

As an IU fan I can get on board with this and hope it plays out this way.

  9. Well Mississinewa didn't even play last week due to Covid.  From what I heard, neither them nor Marion could play so the issue was on both sides.  I've heard that not all Grant County schools have handled covid cases appropriately when it comes to athletic teams and events though.  Hopefully all teams are able to play going forward.

That’s laughable.  You think playing Elwood and Frankton is a tougher non-conference schedule than playing Huntington North and New Haven?  You’re stretching partner.

According to the SOS gonzoron provided that appears to be the case.  Both are really bad though.

  11. 2 hours ago, gonzoron said:

Agree. Their schedule is ranked 247th toughest in the State. Eastbrook's is 271st.

That's because Tipton played two CIC teams in non-conference (although Eastbrook still somehow managed a worse nonconference schedule than someone who played Elwood and Frankton).  I think that's the basic premise here.  The CIC is awful.  Let's compare SOS again once both teams play their conference seasons.

In 17 and 18 I wanted to be North and we went South. Now I want to be South and we go North. The North in my opinion is much stronger this year.

Following Western Boone the last 3 years, who went South all three years, it seemed like they were rarely challenged in the South.  Only one of their 15 games prior to the state finals in those 3 years ended up as a single-score victory.  That was in 2018 against TIpton.....who was promptly moved to the North for the next two years.

Just feels like the better programs in 2A have been, and are still in the North to me.  Eastbrook.  Pioneer (at least the past 2 seasons).  Luers.  Andrean.  Tipton.  RC.  Bremen.  Eastside.  But it's a new year and the past does not necessarily repeat itself so we'll see what happens.  We're only 2 weeks into solving this year's puzzle.

I agree with the FW Luers part of that statement, but Tipton isn’t near what they were last year and Eastbrook is a better team than they were last year.  Only time will tell.

I don't know a ton about what Tipton has back from last season.  I know they are historically a very tough program though and they've outscored their first two opponents 75-0 though.  Granted, neither opponent was very good, both CIC as a matter of fact.  One thing is for sure, the Hoosier Conference will offer tests for Tipton before sectional time.  I have my eye on their matchups with LCC and Western that will reveal exactly how good they can be.  The bad thing about the CIC is I don't think Eastbrook will encounter any good teams.  I'm almost certain they'll be undefeated and ranked #1 going into the 2A tournament but I think the lack of quality competition will come back and bite them at some point.

EASTBROOK V. OLE MISS- boy Eastbrook looked good last week. What a great game to attend. Yes Eastbrook has to clean up some ball security issues but man I'm not sure any 2A teams compete with them until semi-state this year.

Tipton says hello.  And FW Luers may be able to hang with them as well......

  15. 18 minutes ago, gonzoron said:

Not really. Both will be tough.

We will see.  4 of the top-5 ranked 2A teams are in the North.  Evansville Mater Dei the only one in the South.  Tipton would likely have to beat a top 5 team to win their sectional, another to win regional, and another in semistate.  LCC still might have to go through something like Heritage Christian and Evansville Mater Dei in regional and semistate.  Just seems a bit lighter to me.

  16. Saw Mishawaka Marian lose to Mishawaka in week 1 and I don't think that's much of an indictment to be honest.  Not sure any 3A team would beat Mishawaka this year.  Maybe Brebeuf.  Marian couldn't stop Mishawaka's running game at all and really couldn't run that well either.  They did have some success in the air early.

Losing to Culver Academy in week 2 is a maybe a little more troublesome.  I guess we'll see how that loss stacks up when Culver Academy plays Brebeuf on September 17.

    My top 5:

    1.  Brebeuf

    2.  West Lafayette

    3.  Gibson Southern

    4.  Mishawaka Marian

    5.  Tri-West

Elwood at Oak Hill ©, 7 pm
Frankton at Blackford ©, 7 pm
    Madison-Grant at Alexandria ©, 7 pm
Mississinewa at Eastbrook ©, 7 pm

Elwood at Oak Hill-  Looking like Oak Hill will be the contender for the top of the CIC this year.  Couple of impressive wins and a RB with 8 TDs already.  Taking on a winless\scoreless Elwood team, should be an easy Eagle Victory.

Frankton at Blackford- Who will break the longest losing streaks in the CIC?  Taking the Bruins just because of home field...

M-G as Alex- Both teams got in the win column this week, both have momentum.  Alex at home and playing a little better competition squeaks out a close game.  Should be a good one.

Mississinewa at Eastbrook- Ole Miss well rested or rusty after having to take last week off?  Don't think it will matter much either way.  Panthers with some turnovers last week may be out to prove they can hold on to the ball this week and with an run and pass threat now, the CIC doesn't stand much of a chance.  Panthers by a lot in this rivalry.

Good luck to all teams this week as conference play has begun!!

The CIC doesn't stand much of a chance because the CIC is really bad.

  18. Pretty good game.  Western was bigger up front and moved the ball with more ease, at least it seemed to me, but I don't believe either team forced a punt.  The difference was a long touchdown run Western broke with under 2 minutes left in the first half that put them up a full touchdown just before halftime so Western Boone did not have enough time to answer and 2 misssed conversions by Western Boone (first the xp and then the 2-point).  Like this series for Western Boone.  Gives them a tough program at a higher level to test themselves against early.  The last 2 seasons have shown that losing this game does nothing but help them get better for the rest of the season.  And if there was ever a time you like to see a team win, it's when they are having to deal with adversity like Western has this past week.
