  1. Not exactly murderer's row for the non-conference games.  Mooresville is pretty good but the rest doesn't look very challenging.  LCC is a good program obviously but 2 classes (without success factor anyway) below Tri-West.  I know Western Boone lost to Sheridan last year for the first time in forever and there were days where this was a top 1A team vs a top 2A team but Sheridan hasn't made noise in 1A for awhile and Webo is up in 3A now.  That 2nd week game against Western is a much better test for them.  Frankfort hasn't beaten Clinton Central yet and I'd love to see their program take another step forward and do that this season.  Them going 5-5 last season coming off back-to-back winless seasons was really impressive.

What are the odds that this conference produces at least one participant in the 3A title game?  Real outside chance it could produce both which I can't think happens very often outside of the MIC in 6A.

Bishop Luers returns most of their players from what should have been a state championship team a season ago.

Not sure how you come up with that.  They were close, but a team that can't force one punt or stop their opponent on downs one time during the entire game "should" lose.

I don't know anything about Carroll but if they are a good 6A team and Luers hasn't improved their defense significantly from last season, Carroll will probably have good success running the ball on them.  That takes nothing away from how good the Luers passing attack is.  They are going to be a tough out in the 2A tournament again this season.  But I need to see that defense show up this season before picking them to win against a decent 6A team.

  3. Having never coached football in my life, can someone tell me exactly how beneficial this would be?

You would see the team running plays just like you would by watching their game tape.  A drone flying at that distance wouldn't pick up the conversation or terminology being used to call plays I wouldn't think.  Maybe you see them practice a play you they otherwise might not have been expecting and preparing for it if they can gain insight on when it might be used.  Also, if the team knows they are being watched, they could do things to send the other team on a wild goose chase by showing them things they never intend to use/do or even set them up for whatever it is they really do want to run.  It seems like awfully extreme measures to go to for minimal benefit I would think.  The time and effort it would take to do this would seem better spent on preparing your own team.

Im surprised to hear many coaches use the term "punished" when describing the impact of the Success Factor on future classes.

I see it more as a "consequence" of their extreme success.

Instead of winning a 1A title and going 15-0, a future class goes 10-3 and loses at the regional in 2A.  Have they really been "punished" for the success of prior classes, or are they playing a stronger set of opponents as a consequence of the great success of their predecessors?

    Punished is a poor term.

    Agree.

If you're a competitor, don't you want to play someone closer to your level rather than running roughshod over lesser opponents year after year?  Once you master one level, time to move up and attempt to master the next.   Frankly, I think it shows winning has been emphasized too much when programs would rather run through a tournament trouncing teams not at your level than even risk a loss against a team that can compete with you.

That said, I don't think being in 3A has cost Southridge much.  Maybe a 2A sectional in 2019.  But they got a 3A regional in 2020 rather than a 2A regional.

I feel like that specific two year time frame is too restrictive in regards to it being a specific two years and just too small of a sample size. Team A could have the same (or even less) success than Team B but one gets moved up because it was in the specific two year window while the other does not because it split the two year window.

Wonder if they are ever going to get over that?

The honeymoon for Brohm ended a long time ago and it seems like season after season of continued mediocrity in WLF.  Brohm is not the wizard offensive mind many thought he was and his defenses are as bad as they were expected to be.  After a quick start, recruiting has settled into a mid BT place , better than Hazell but not the promise that the early classes offered.  Honestly, I think Brohm will get bored with this job.

I think he will move on and his next gig, despite his lackluster PU record,  will either be a very high profile college job  (UCLA/Oregon/Arizona State/Penn State/Miami FL) or an Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator job in the NFL.

One injury-ravaged season in 2019 and a worthless, covid-ruined 2020 with a huge mistake at DC that has since been taken care of.  It hasn't been good since 2018 but his contract is too good for him to walk away from, too much for another school to want to match right now, and too much/long for Purdue to buy it out.  He's not going anywhere in the next 15 months whether anyone wants it or not, and as a Purdue fan I can only speak for myself but I don't.  It's not like we're not even in games like the Hazell era.  Let Hagen improve the defense.  Let the offensive line mature.  Stay healthy.  Win some of the close games that have gone the other way (like Minnesota and the PI call last year) and things will be fine.  No need to panic and overreact.

Because momentum in both recruiting and progress in each program is going in opposite directions and losing a top flight in-state recruit with Purdue ties to a rival school who historically hasn't recruited all that way would not have been a good look.

"Momentum" is as good as your next game, changes all the time, and is way overrated.  After 2018, Purdue had all the momentum in the series.  IU has it now.  None of that really matters going forward.  One verbal commitment doesn't change a thing in that regard.

Something tells me Brohm is not long for West Lafayette.

Given his contract, I'm not sure what you expect to happen.  Purdue can't afford to fire him even if they wanted to and nobody else is going to pay that large a salary for his recent results at Purdue.  Barring something scandalous, he's going to be there at least another couple seasons.  And unless those seasons are either extremely good.....or extremely bad.....he'll probably be there another couple seasons beyond that.

I will also say that the North/South split looks way out of balance in 2A right now.  I think the North is far superior to the South.  It actually has been for a few years but Western Boone kept the South respectable.  Now that they're up in 2A, I'm not sure who in the South I like to compete with the North winner.  Hopefully when they re-align sectionals after 2021 they can come up with something that gives it a little more balance.

    Meant to say 3A there.

I think the nod has to go to Andrean as the 2A team to beat. I think that Andrean would be better prepared to face Luers' spread passing attack than what they faced against Pioneer running a traditional Wing-t that they don't face in the course of the regular season.

Could be.  I know very little about what they have coming back.  It's a team I don't get to see much of during the season but I expected to see them at LOS after they beat Lewis Cass in 2019 and last year going into the tournament and both seasons they fell short.  I saw Luers get to the title game last year and did everything but win that game.  I know they are returning many of their key players and I know they will test themselves before the state tournament.

That said, I could see Luers losing to Andrean, particularly if the game is played in inclement weather in November.  I could maybe see Eastbrook or someone else beating them in similar circumstances too if they haven't improved on defense.

  11. Assuming Luers make some modest level of improvement on defense, I'm not sure they lose to another 2A team.  They nearly won it last year even with that defense.  The one caveat is if they have to play in a bad-weather game in the playoffs where wind/rain/ice could neutralize their passing game.

LCC should be on the list somewhere.

Eastern Greene is not even in 2A.

Eastbrook had alot of sophomore talent in 2019 and those sophomores should now be seniors.  My guess is that they get through the regular season undefeated.

Remember EMD being very young last year and it seems like they should be improved from a semi-state appearance if all goes to plan for them.

Don't know much about Andrean but they've disappointed me in the tournament the past couple seasons.

Also don't know much about what Eastside has coming back but they gave Luers all they wanted in the sectional last season.  If they return alot they could be a darkhorse.

Another team not on the list that I will keep an eye on is Scecina.

    Yep.

    Deadline passed though.

Rent was due nearly two hours ago.

@Footballking16 and @XStar must retake the course as sophomores.

Sorry, I had to concentrate on work yesterday afternoon/evening.  I prioritize that because I don't want to become economically disadvantaged.

Aside from that, you have to make a valid point before you can hand out any assignment.  All you've done so far is admit that you don't consider Western Boone to be upscale while claiming to back up Muda but admitting that he makes no sense.  Like I've repeatedly shown, you're not very good at this.

Once again, I never claimed WeBo was “upscale”.  You’re aiming for the wrong target on that one my man.

When the state average is over 50 percent, I stated that any corporation that is under 25 percent would fall into my definition of the term “upscale.”

Nothing has been debunked.  You are playing checkers dude.  I’m using data from the DOE while you are throwing blind darts.

Homework was due 7 minutes ago.

    ZERO cases have been provided.

    Checkmate.

Absolutely false.  I let you define everything how you wanted and you still couldn't keep up once I started using the DOE data you cited.

Again, you're just not very good at this.

“Any corporation whose percent is 25 or under” not 25 percent relative to another corporation.  🤡 🤡 🤡

Class is over.  The bell is ringing.  Teacher is heading to bed.

Yeah you answered your own objection with that one as Western Boone is over 25%.

The Gary reference was for the unique inference that if one can find any school district worse off than another then it makes that school corporation "upscale" which was clearly nonsense but you wanted someone to tell you someone worse off than Frankfort and I did.

Literally everything you've tried to prop up here has now been debunked.  You're not very good at this.
