  1. I believe that you are right in that there isn't the population in Columbus to support two great teams. There will be waves of good players back and forth from each school. You will recognize some "Johnny's and Joe's" from North's squad for the next few years. They have some young studs that are already getting college offers. Many of them have been playing together in 7v7 and going to showcases for several years now. Something else that North has and East doesn't is a schedule with tougher opponents. North kids have the opportunity to play bigger games with more scouts. I'll have to get the number from a friend of mine but the amount of North kids that have gone on to play football in college is definitely lopsided compared to the school from across town. That is another attraction point for athletes that are interested in playing at the next level.
  2. The game has now been moved to 8pm this Friday.
  3. I do like that there is the ability of adding on two more non-conference games to bolster the schedule. CN has Chatard and Roncalli on their schedule. Those two teams are typically really good as of late.
  4. East has been practicing in the gym with AC while North has been practicing outside with extra water breaks. We shall see which method pays off in the end. Come see us in the heat on Friday!
  5. Transfer of Lil B from Madison to Columbus East for 2024-2025 now confirmed! 😄
  6. Bloomington North Columbus North Bloomington South Perry Meridian Cripus Attucks Terra Haute South
  7. Sorry. I thought I was still in the HHC tread for some reason. I was in it, then out. Not a bad move because that drive sucks!
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing a conference like that. The drive to Terra Haute is a haul for a conference game. I'm sure they feel the same about driving to Columbus. Where is the link to the thread?
  9. I haven't seen a Conference Indiana thread. Start one up and I'll contribute.
  10. There is talk about pushing the start time of the game back to allow for the temperature to go down. The community tailgate is still scheduled for 5pm as far as I know. There have also been renovations at East with the visitors bleachers. Below is the article about that. https://www.therepublic.com/2023/08/21/a-new-look-easts-renovated-press-box-new-bleachers-ready-for-use-friday/
  11. Our game may be pushed back a little later in the evening to allow for the temp to drop some. That will allow it to get dark quicker which will be nice.
  12. Not sure, but I love some 90's grunge!
  13. Week 1: Both schools will face tough opponents this Friday North faces Decatur Central East faces Bloomington South
  14. @WWFan There was a post on this thread earlier about the coaching moves in and out of Salem the past few years. Have any idea of what's going on there? You guys end up with any Salem players after the dust cleared?
  15. Columbus North has an AD and 2 assistant ADs. One of the assistant ADs is the head football coach.

  17. Those weren't individual days for each scrimmage. Teams scrimmage more than one team at a time. It's also not tackle. They do 7v7 and 11v11. 7v7 the whistle is blown with one hand touch while the whistle is general blown when the defender has their arms around the offensive player for 11v11.
  18. I don't think that Conference Indiana will fall through anytime soon. One of the positives that has come out of a smaller conference is that the team is able to schedule games against teams like Roncalli, Bishop Chatard, Decatur Central, Gibson Southern (Brady Allen years), and Cathedral. The coaching staff at Columbus North has been trying to schedule tougher competition to prepare the team for post season. It's challenging being one of the smallest 6A schools in the state. Our coaches increased the level of competition to our preseason scrimmage schedule. We faced Whiteland (Runner up), West Lafayette, Peoria High (Illinois Runner Up), Warren Central, Pike, Fishers, Mount Vernon. Again, I believe the coaching staff's focus has been to prepare for the big juggernaut schools/programs that we end up facing in the post season. With Center Grove being in our sectional our kids have to get used to playing that type of program.
  19. There are two youth football programs in Columbus (Bartholomew County Bears and PAAL). PAAL is a intramural league and the Bears are in a conference with other youth teams like Beechgrove, Triton Central, Southport, Edinburgh, Brown County, Indian Creek, & Shelbyville.
  20. My son was throwing with a couple of Seymour receivers last weekend and they were both hard working and talented. Kyle and Josh(?) I believe? Seymour also has Jaylan Johnson, who could be a top receiver in the state this upcoming season. I'm not sure how good their QB is but if Seymour can pass the ball then these three could cause some serious problems for teams.
  21. Columbus East has scrimmaged Greensburg, Muncie Central and New Palestine. Columbus North has scrimmaged Lafayette Jeff, Peoria (Ill), Whiteland, Warren Central, Pike.
  22. It doesn’t look like it. I’m not sure why it is set up like that. Maybe they want the press box in the visiting team’s ear?
  23. This rivalry game is one the city of Columbus always looks forward to! ESPN has even featured this rivalry in 2011. This year's crosstown rivalry will take place at Columbus East in Stafford Field on August 25th. The field is currently having some new stands on the East side of the field. This game is always packed with loyal fans and energetic student sections. The last 5 years North has won 4 times in those meetings. The past two years North has won convincingly (28-0 in 2021, 39-6 in 2022). However, the Bulldogs of North look to be very young this year with a very small senior class. East's senior class is small as well but has North outnumbered in that area. Both teams scrimmage tough teams to prepare for the upcoming season. Both teams will be looking to earn bragging rights for 2023. Who is excited?!
  24. Who all did they lose? I thought they have a lot of young talent from last year.
  25. No worries Fkfootball. I was just saying how I think that game will go. Martinsville has been progressing with a tougher schedule than BNL. Come tournament time, strength of schedule, tends to expose teams that had a soft schedule. Like Charlestown is 10-0 but I would put my money on HH, who has a much worse record. HH plays tougher opponents. Upsets are always exciting though!
