    Which LN shows up?

They may be (too lazy to look it up) the only program to lose a contest by 40+ points (vs BD) one week and win one by 40+ points (vs WC) the next.

I don't know which LN shows up, but I remember in 1990 LCC played Indy Park Tudor the last game of the season on Sat. October 13 and lost 23-0.  LCC then played Indy Park Tudor on Friday October 19 in the first round of sectionals and beat them 28-0.  You just never know!

Taking Harrison over Plainfield in this one just because I want my son to play for a sectional title before he finishes up high school.  It also fits with what happened last year too with the loser of the first match avenging themselves in the second.  I also think that Harrison has gotten some of the kinks worked out from the first couple of games and also has most of their guys healthy.  For Plainfield, they'll need to be able to pass to keep Harrison off-balance and be able to run effectively between the tackles.  When teams struggle with the pass or can't control the middle, then the Harrison defense changes up a bit.  This is what happened both with Jeff and West Lafayette.  Once Harrison was able to shut down the middle run, that's pretty much when the game was over.  West Lafayette's QB had a 106 rating through last week, but ended up going 22-40 for 127 against Harrison.

I would normally take Decatur Central over McCutcheon, but McCutcheon's surprise win over Kokomo and the close game against Guerin makes me wonder if they've got one more spark in them to force a cross-town sectional championship should Harrison prevail tonight.  I'd love for Harrison to play an away game next week across town.

I wanted to wish your son and Harrison good luck tonight.  I hope Harrison wins, but if they don't, you can always say the system is broken and Plainfield should be in 6A.  🙂

I don't need to talk to anyone. I'm not moving up. I'm not aware of a rule against it either. If there is one, let's see it.

You will need to talk to them if you want the classification process changed.  If you let every school in the state decide what class they want to be in, that is changing the process.

This is now a thread about why the success factor needs to go

if you cannot beat every school your size, then you are not a real state champion

It punishes programs for being good, in order to reward programs that do not work as hard as said programs

    you know what

    I changed my mind

there is no need for a success factor if we only have one class to begin with

I want a tournament with every school in the state playing in the same division

    3 games a week

imagine people whining about losing to Chatard when they were going to have to play Brownsburg or BD in two days anyway

While were at it, lets scrap the mercy rule and move to 18 minute quarters as well

Most people were happy with one class basketball.  They should get rid of the success factor.  Nobody seems to be in the right class.  One class football might stop some of the whining.

Nope I’m talking Semi State but it seems this site has mass confusion about people posting… I would at this moment take Laville over Rochester or LCC… I didn’t realize everything needed to be explained in depth on this site.. Laville just handled Andreans pass attack with ease

I knew what you meant and its all good.  I do think LCC has a better chance to make it to Semi state this year than last year.

  6. Should be a great game!  Rochester will have had two weeks to get ready.  I think it will be a 14-13 type of game.  Is Rochester going to throw the ball this year?  They didn't throw the ball one time in the first half of last years game.  The winner of this game has a great shot to make it to semi state.

I have not seen a single 2A North sectional thread so I figured might as well just put them all together.

This might be the most wide open the north has been in a few years without a clear front runner to represent the north at LOS. I think there are at least two teams in every sectional that have a pretty decent chance at being that team. Here is my pick for every sectional and who might give those picks problems on their way to claiming it.

Sectional 33: I'm going to go with Andrean here. I wouldn't be surprised if Laville beats them, but I think Andrean has played a tough enough schedule they will be ready for the Lancers. I think the winner of that first round game will be the one that wins this sectional.

Sectional 34: LCC is the defending champ, so I think that makes them the favorite, but if anyone is going to knock them out of the playoffs in the sectional, it is probably going to have to be Rochester. Great game last year that was a lot closer than the score looks. I look for this years game to be a lot like it. Close all the way to the end.

Sectional 35: I think this one might be the easiest to pick. I think Luers walks through this one fairly easy. Eastside will give them the greatest fight, but I don't think it will be close when they meet.

Sectional 36: I think this one could go one of three or four ways. I think Bluffton is probably the favorite, but Alexandria has been playing very good football from what i have heard the last couple of weeks. I think they are a contender. Hard to not say Eastbrook has a chance. Record isn't as great as in past years, but they have a history of being very good in the playoffs. I think the wild card in this sectional is Eastern. I don't think they have played a very tough schedule, but winning 7 games still isn't necessarily easy so I'd say they have a chance.

Would love to hear what other people think. Maybe a team I haven't followed that others think might have a chance to make some noise this playoffs.

I think you are right on the money.  The winner of Rochester/LCC has a great shot to make it to semi state and will probably take on Luers.  Luers is getting better and played very well against Homestead.  I think the Rochester/LCC game will be a low scoring game, maybe 14-13 type of game.  Luers will probably make it to state and take on Triton Central or Mater Dei.

Well, three of those are older than the 20 year parameter (2000, 2000, 2001), one of the has not happened yet (2023), and one of them, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) is actually about 45 miles north of Bargersville. So that puts the number squarely at 10 (out of about 110 championships I think).

I think directly or indirectly we are both shining the spotlight on the Indy area and surrounding counties. That region's probably won 60 or more state championships in the last 20 years.

Its been 50 years since the playoffs started in 1973.  From 1973-1997, 103 teams won championships.  47 of those teams were in and north of Lafayette.  From 1998 to 2022, 135 teams won championships.  39 of those teams were in and north of Lafayette.  15 of those 39 championships were won by LCC and FW Luers.

From 1973-1997 it looks like 8 teams south of Bargersville won state.  From 1998-2022, 13 teams south of Bargersville won state.  4 of the 13 in the last 4 years.  It looks like the far south is getting slightly better, and the Indy area is getting much better.  And the north "OH MY"

Now do the same thing for schools south of Bargersville for the last 20 years. I don’t think the total championship count even reaches double digits. Oh my!

The teams south of Bargersville seem to be getting better all the time.

Evansville Mater Dei won state - 2000, 2022

Evansville Memorial won state - 2017

    Linton won state - 2016

Heritage Hills won state - 2000

Evansville Reitz won state - 2007,2009

    Columbus East won state - 2013, 2017

    Jasper won state - 2001

East Central won state - 2022, probably 2023

Mt. Vernon (Fortville) won state - 2021

Gibson Southern won state - 2021

It did reach double digits.  Many of the schools in and north of Lafayette were good for many years, and that doesn't seem to be true anymore.  South Bend had some of the best teams in the state from the 1920's-1970's, and now look at them.  Penn seems to have fallen off, and the list goes on and on.  Indy might have a lot to do with that, but that is why the teams north of Lafayette get an "Oh My"
