I hadn’t heard about the Edmond news until I got a message about him being at the All America Bowl combine showing out and they listed his high school as Northwood in Nappanee, Indiana. I was like who is this? Did Nitro Tuggle change his name? Haha Had to look him up. It looks like the Panthers are going to have an air raid offense with 2 D1 receivers.

4A: New Prairie vs East Central

Maybe an overreaction in retrospect but Northwood was laying waste to the NLC at the time. Losing all those players and then having the backup QB get injured really prevented them from having any kind of chance. -
Scores: Regional Championships

Dear god. I thought New Prarie would handle Northridge but wow. Running clock tonight -
I think this will be a very long offseason in Nappanee and one that some people are going to have to take a hard look in the mirror going forward. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t an anti Nate Andrews post. He’s done a great job of returning Northwood to some prominence that it lost after Skyler Titus graduated. That said, we have also had 3 undefeated regular seasons and NLC championships the past 7 years and yet only 1 sectional championship in ‘16 on the way to a runner-up finish. Now I understand there’s a lot of what ifs surrounding the end of this year. But at the end of the day I still think NWood had the better roster on the field on Friday and it was 17-0 before we looked like we had a clue what was going on. And then what do you know, we outscore them 17-3 before running outta gas at the end. 2 years in a row we lose to a team that we beat by 40 in the season and lost both decisively. Why are they able to massively improve and we can’t? In ‘18 we were undefeated and lost to Angola in the sectional as well. What is the reason for so much regular season success with not a lot of post season success? again I’m not anti Andrews, but there are definitely questions that need addressing going forward because they still have the talent to make a run again next year.

NW without Roeder isn’t a passing team. They essentially have moved Tuggle to RB to get the ball to him. Lone (NWoods backup QB) also was injured last week but is scheduled to go tonight. Not sure how close to 100% he will be.

NIC Sectional Finals
PantherPride replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The NIC south was a joke this year. Normally Marian would be a lot better and Bremen was hit and miss. They really need Glenn to get back to where they were 10 years ago as well as Bremen. You have that and maybe the south bend schools have a good team every year out of 1 of them and that’s a good conference cause you know Marian won’t be down for long. and I was wondering about the decline of Michiana football recently and the cause. I remember as a kid you had Penn, Bremen, Jimtown, Goshen, St Joe, Northwood all winning a title or getting there multiple times. I wanna say it was 95 there was 3 different classes with teams down there: Penn, St Joe and Bremen. -

In 3A Tippy Valley is in the same sectional as Chatard which is probably 2 hours away. I wondered how that one happened. -

So the old NSC? Well Bremen will probably have a running clock against them. Jimtown/Knox is a tossup that I have no idea, lean towards Knox but Jimtown has been playing well. I think NP takes it and gives Northwood all they can handle in the regional. -
Tuggle is probably the best player in the northern part of the state outside of fort Wayne and wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a run at Mr Football in ‘23.

Temp's 4A Bracket Analysis
PantherPride replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Northwood takes care of business and shows no sign of stopping yet, however anyone thinking st Joe had a shot was only fooling themselves. The Indians gave up 20 to lowly Plymouth who I wonder if they’d have anyone start on the Northwood offense? Northridge with a mild upset of Logansport to set up a rematch with the Panthers in Nappanee next Friday. New Prarie easily moves on 42-6 and I continue to say, the Cougars are the team that can and possibly will take down Northwood. -
From my understanding nothing has been announced publicly but they’ve been informed they will sit for 3 games. Should the Panthers reach semi state they will be able to play again. I think honestly MarshallCounty the lack of close games for NW caused this. They had 1 all year vs Mishawaka. When you’re blowing every team out you can lose focus fast. Especially after playing 4 pushovers in a row for the past month.

N.I.C. Week 11 - Sectional play continues
PantherPride replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yeah I’m not sure what to think at this point. Northwood started the year with a different QB and beat Jimtown and East Noble easily, so replacing the QB won’t be as big a deal for them as some teams. Still a big deal. Losing 4 seniors will be very difficult to overcome, but I’m not sure this is the week it will be a problem. They have a pretty deep team. I guess we’ll find out. -
I would think anyone who has ever been in high school could guess why multiple players would all be suspended at the same time.

Not sure if others more in the know have heard anything but I got a text that the Northwood players were suspended for 3 games. At best will be back by semi state. Several starters on defense as well as the QB will all be out. I think this week they’re fine, beyond that who knows. I think they’ll have REAL problems getting past New Prarie if they face off. Even at full strength I didn’t see that as a “oh yeah that’s a win” type of game. -

I read the code they posted and honestly I didn’t see anything that makes me think they have the hammer coming down on them. It said the AD will work with the coach to administer suspensions. Also said “in extreme cases” such as vandalism a player will lose 1/3 of a season. So would this be considered an extreme case? And if so is that 3 games? The more I read that handbook I almost think it might only be 2 games maybe 3 if they say “extreme cases” is 1/3 of a year. -

I think anything less than 4 games and you can’t be taken seriously as an administration. When I went to school at another high school the penalty for drinking was 4 games for 1st offense. That would mean if Northwood were to actually find a way to get out of the north they would be back to full strength for a state title game. That said if they were to make it past regional it would be a great accomplishment. -

Unfortunately for my community it is true. I don’t know all the details as there’s a lot of rumors but there’s 3 players with mug shots online cause they were over 18. -
I just feel sick for everyone involved with the program. 2022 will likely go down as a “what if” year now. I can’t imagine how you’d feel if you worked your whole life for this moment and the only legacy you end up leaving for the program is being a cautionary tale. I’m sure we’ll get a lot of coach speak about “next man in”, but I don’t know how you overcome losing that many players in the tournament.

OMG Northwood! You have your best team in 6 years and can’t lay off the bottle until after the tournament run???? Wow
