Lack of practice. If you dont practice tackling, and deal with the hurt that goes along with it, you dont learn how to tackle.
Soft practice equals soft game performance
I get the sentiment, but I’m not sure it matters DT. I know a program that hasn’t “live tackled” more than 5 times in the last 8 years. They’ve won 85% of their games over that period, put rings on fingers, and they haven’t lost a kid to injury during that time due to contact at practice.

When I played QB for Coach Britton at Lake Central, we had a counter option where we did a whacky reverse pivot. Worked every time.
Did you full 360 on counter option or did you open opposite then 180 back to the play side? I’ve seen it done both ways.

Kevin Wright has a tremendous resume, that could get him a job from NFL down to HS, whatever he would like to do.
Clicked the topic to say the same thing. Dude is a legend, coming from someone who has never met the man. He’s done Indiana coaches proud.

There was a time in the not so distant past, where Valpo had the opportunity to prepare for this very match-up by adding a class to their curriculum dealing with the slaying of Dragons. However, they passed on the opportunity to train their men with the “Dragon Slayer” course. Sure people laughed about it back then, but tonight the Vikings face the Dragons. Will this missed opportunity come back to haunt them?

I guess I am old school that way.
I’m a coach who has been in the situation you’re talking about multiple times. I always say we’re going to take a knee four times and give them the ball back. I don’t care if they score again because what difference does it make? And when those teams have scored, it doesn’t raise my blood pressure at all, because who cares? We won the game.
Still don’t get what the big deal is, but I am trying to understand where you’re coming from. Oh, and also, I’m as old school as they come. Doesn’t get more “old school” than Wayne Woodrow “Woody” Hayes lol

@CaptainHook Go watch the last 1:30 of the game... You’ll see what I am talking about.
So Triton Central was not supposed to keep playing when they got the ball back? What difference does it make if the score is 35-14 vs 35-7? I’m just trying to understand your thought process. Thanks!

There’s not a better high school football coach in the state of Indiana than Tim Able.

TC pulled a RCHS: I was just talking about our drive in 2009 in another thread this week. TC just did the exact same thing we did. Entire 3rd quarter eaten scored on the 1st play of 4th.
Hey Coach me and Big Santa were talking after our loss last night. We need to get together this off-season. We’ll do whatever we need to for that to happen.

There are some good young coaches coming up in the WRC right now. None are Varsity head coaches yet, but they’ll be great when they get their chance.
Robby Davis coaches WR/DB and is head JV coach at North Vermillion.
Joe Culbreath is the head Jr High coach and Director of football operations for the 7-12 grade program at North Vermillion.
Nate Bryan is OL/DL and DC at Parke Heritage.
Scott Moore is the DC at Seeger.
Look for all of these men to be successful when they get their shot.

Congratulations Coach, good luck with the rest of the tournament.
@Warriorfan much appreciated. Lutheran has a great team.

Thank you @Oldbleacherfan much appreciated. Your son is a great player and I know how proud of him you must be. It was a shame that a team had to lose Friday night because both teams played so hard. I also enjoyed the mutual respect and sportsmanship between both teams. That was just two incredible games between two good teams.

Coach Crabtree aka @Woody_Hayes, I know your busy but could you let us know if there’s any additional seating. Lots of family coming to town and I need to know if I need to take a half day at work to be there at 4 pm. Lol
I’m sorry. I have no idea about the seating arrangement. I’m just trying to figure out how to beat the best coach in the history of the Wabash River Conference for the second time in the same season. I’d bring lawn chairs just to be safe.

The offense put on a show. Bullinger, Johnson, and White were dominant. Our defense stinks, I thought some personnel changes would help but Johnson only played offense?
Cloverdale had had a few big strong kids and a couple athletes. Felt bad that they only had 15 people in the bleachers, after the long year those kids have had they deserve better!
As for what matters most, where did you decide to eat?

Any good food joints in cloverdale
I lived in Greencastle for 8 years. Cool town to live in. My family always enjoyed the Friday night seafood buffet at the Putnam Inn. We ate crab legs until we were almost sick. Located on the North side of town right on 231.

45 was one of the few to come out reasonably close. Adjust for FC/RP/Covington and it would be just about right. The semi finals could look basically the same as they would if it were seeded and the favorites won. Even keeps the two favorites on opposite sides and the most likely darkhorse on the side of the bracket with what would be the #2 seed. The ping pongers were pretty good for sectional 45.
I’m indifferent about this year’s draw. Should’ve known what was coming when I ran into Covington’s QB at the County Market today. He’s a great kid, by the way.
Recently I’ve had some great draws. Before that, I’ve had some of the worst draws possible. In either scenario, the draw affected the tournament. That sucks and is incredibly ignorant.
There is a reason why Indiana is the only state that does our play-off this way. It’s not because our blind draw is “unique”. It’s because the IHSAA is a lazy cash cow.

THIS P'S Me OFF. Every year the same discussion. So two top teams have to play in the first round and not for the Championship boo hoo hoo. It doesn't matter you have to play someone in the first round or you have to play them in the last round. S#!$ happens, its life.
Thank you, Commissioner Cox, for weighing in on the discussion. lol

It’s wolf blanket week. Does anyone know which Covered Bridge festival location has the best selection of wolf blankets?

Yep, looks like we’re getting wet tonight! Let’s just hope it’s rain only and no lightning so we don’t have to delay/postpone.

Is tackling a "lost" art?

One of our stations in our weekly tackle circuit is a strip drill. It teaches first defender to the ball secure the tackle, second and third defender help with tackle, strip the ball and recover the fumble. It has had a very positive impact on our defense. We strip multiple footballs per season and recover the football.
