    North

Penn/NP, Elkhart, St Joe, Marian and Adams.

    South

Jimtown, Riley, Bremen, Glenn, Clay. Toss up between Glenn/Bremen. If Marshall County is already saying it’s a rebuilding year. Then I don’t expect much out of them. Even though your always rebuilding…..

I’m hearing ND strength coaches kid is looking good for the Kingsman at RB.

Marians QB Bryce Lasane could have a solid year if they can find some weapons for him. Most of their skill kids graduated.

Sharp from Elkhart could have a good year if he’s ready to go.

St Joes-QB Alex Ortiz if he can spread it around and not lock in to his 4-Star gift.

Adams- I can’t think of anyone.
    Washington- The Mascot.

    Clay- The School Board

    Jimtown- RB Garner

Riley- last year was the kicker…Let’s see who the surprise is this season

    Bremen-Marshall County any help?

Glenn- any upcoming freshmen? Hannah playing?

For Bremen junior Reece Green should be QB. Tyrus Graverson showed some spark as a freshman at wide reciever. Lance Moser had a solid year at running back as a sophomore, but has to run behind a rebuilding offensive line. Eason Reed is a beef steak wt 6’0 309 lbs.

Ok so I know that DT/HHF brings up contraction every chance he gets. In very, very few cases I believe he makes some good points. But there is another "C" word that I believe would be more of a beneficial talk, consolidation.

I know in the southeastern part of the state there are quite a few football programs that would benefit from this. Now I know school corporations make decisions based on a thousand other things then athletic programs but some of these smaller schools that are still out there I think would benefit from either consolidating with other small schools or a big school.

I think a great example of this would be the schools in Decatur County. Currently those include Greensburg, North Decatur & South Decatur. These are three schools that are all within a 20 minute drive of each other (Greensburg & North Decatur are literally on the opposite sides of 74).

According to the last enrollment numbers if all three of these schools combined they would have a student population of 1,278. This would make "Decatur County High School" a lot more competitive as a 4A school, maybe even a good team to play with Greensburg conference opponent East Central. In recent years South Decatur has had number issues and both North & South have had conference issues.

Other schools in southeastern Indiana that could benefit from this:

Milan + South Ripley + Jac-Cen-Del = "Ripley County High School" with 950 kids (South Ripley & Jac-Cen-Del do not have football teams)

Madison + Southwestern Hanover = "Jefferson County High School" with 1,114 kids (Southwestern Hanover doesn't have a football team)

Connersville + Union County = "Fayette-Union High School" with 1,374 kids

Switzerland County + Rising Sun = "Switz-Ohio High School" with 657 kids (Rising Sun doesn't have a football team)

Personally I think consolidation has a lot of benefits when it comes to the actual classroom and educational experience a student has. Small school generally means small resources. But when it comes to all the problems DT/HHF talks about I think this could be an answer. It creates schools with large enough enrollments to field football teams and gives even more kids opportunity to play football.

I don't have enough knowledge about other parts of the state but I'm sure there are similar situations across the state.

I think you have a better shot of selling a catsup flavored popsicle to a lady in white gloves than you would have asking a few of those communities give up their local schools.

I think Yeoman has been at Penn since the early 2000's.... who has the next longest tenure at their school in the NIC?

Coach Jordan Leeper at Bremen I think. He has 7 years in. Next season will be 8. I am trying to think of anyone else has been there longer.

Unless someone sends the IHSAA an anonymous note stating that Breman is indeed named for Pope Breman VI ... hence the 'B' that looks like a '6' on the helmets.  When that happens you shall mysteriously be cast into the Sectional of Death in 3A. 🙂

The 616 students from Bremen is incorrect.  DOE has enrollment closer to 510.

These are the numbers from Bremen.
    9th – 126
    10th – 111
    11th – 109
    12th – 145.
Total of 491, so they will be 2A when all is corrected

Why would the IHSAA just do something randomly...because people like DeSantis and Sharpe have influence?  I know Sharpe is a great guy and people swear DeSantis is, but I've worked with principals and ADs a long time...they do what they want, when they want, how they want....my opinion.

I’m just messing with you, I have no idea what went on. I was 12 years old in 1994. Bremen being in north central Indiana bounces east and west every couple years. Frank has been gone for 25 years, so it isn’t really worth being to bent out of shape over it. I just every so often it gets thrown out there that he rigged the system in the 90’s. I think that is just back room banter from people with an ex to grind.

Our math teachers and geography teachers are pretty dog gone good.  Maybe I'm just thinking of past years.  The IHSAA will have their influencers much like the old AD at Bremen,  DeSantis,  pull their magic.  He used to make sure Bremen and Jimtown were not in the same football sectional.  Our people here are very good at mapping and guessing.

Good old Frank DeSantis. Fire Up, Fire Up!!! He only gerrymandered the sectional because Bill Sharpe asked him to.

  8. Talked with someone at Bremen which is a 2A school, field turf is way down the the priority list for school projects.  From what they said, it may require a total redo of the stadium, the field when laid out in the 50's was put in east to west because that as what they had space for.  If they where to do it now, they would want a lay out to go north to south which would require a change in the track and bleacher complex.  So don't look for them to do anything any time soon, unless someone wants to donate to a multi-million dollar project.

  9. Multiply things could be at play.  They have to adjust the fall count and spring count numbers.  That will change a few things in each class.  I believe the possibility of 5 classes in other sports could be looked at.  Also do we go with unblanced classes and put a hard number on enrollment to be used for delineation of the class splits. The IHSAA has scene many small schools added that have pushed up many traditional small schools up to another class.  This could be a fix to that problem as mentioned in the Indy Star article from last week.  Another thing could be a change in success factors could be debated as well.
