Was talking to my dad and he said he was talking to someone in Bremen and asked them about the football team this year and their response was “we’re small and we’re slow”. Doesn’t sound like a good combination. I don’t see Bremen winning more than a few games this year.

I will say this, they are very small but I don't think they are slow. They may be the smallest Bremen team in a long time, LaVille was much bigger, but I give the Lions credit, they didn't shy away from hitting.

In my opinion and on paper, it just seemed like there were other games that could have been selected. Like Jimtown and Northwood, Warsaw and Michigan City, New Prairie and LaPorte. I haven't watched the game yet and am planning to today, but it sounds like it was a really good game. Like I get it, it was a rivalry. There is no question about it. I just thought on paper, LaVille was going to do more to attempt to make it a blowout win which made it seem like it was a questionable game to be considered the game of the week.

LaVille punched Bremen early in the mouth after an interception. Bremen couldn’t run the  ball all night. LaVille scored again to end the 1st. 14-0 LaVille. After that the Bremen defense tightened up. Grabbed a field goal. 14-3 at half. Traded possessions in the 3rd. Reece Greene got free to make it 14-10. LaVille added a field goal to make it 17-10. Lions had a punchers chance, but a running into an offsides and running into the penalty stole in hopes. LaVille was bigger and faster and overall better. Bremen didn’t lay down though and gave them a game.

Ant updates on how the  Small School NIC divison went on Friday??   Curious as that is going to be a tight divison!!

From what I heard, Bremen was rough against Goshen, got pushed around, not very physical. Wore down and quick, depth and size will be an issue.

So you have a problem playing a game in the heat of August 11th but are ok with an official scrimmage August 11th?

If we give up the scrimmage, we don't have to worry about coaches wanting another scrimmage because they have already had 2-3 scrimmages during June and July(in the heat) and probably a couple 7 on 7's. They probably had an intersquad game last weekend also.

Since we are risking injury tomorrow, I'd rather it be in a game than a scrimmage. Kids really don't get many games. Having one less fake game and one more real game would be an improvement.

Scrimmages allow for more substitutions. So yes, I am fine with scrimmages on August 11th.

I may have missed someone else mentioning it but I want to eliminate the official scrimmage and replace it with an additional regular season game.

No, we already expanded the season multiple times over the years. 2 week camp before scrimmage is a great measuring stick, and then a new week leading up to the first game. No sense in rushing kids back to play in the heat of August. We give up the scrimmage, in a couple years the coaches will want another scrimmage before the first new week.

  6. Back to ND. 9-3 has to be the the bottom for this team right? If they go 8-4 against the schedule with the players they have something is fundamentally wrong or the injury bug hit hard. I want Coach Freeman to succed, he is probably the most likeable coach in my eyes since Lou Holtz.    I honestly think we will beat 1 or the 3 big teams on the schedule, if things go amazing there is a shot at winning all 3.  I really believe Louisville is a trap game as well as NC State.  The State game is before Ohio State and Louisville was a nightmare for Hartman last year, and you know Coach Brohm will have that hometeam jacked up to play the Irish.

Is this John Glenn and Coach Barron's break out season!!???  Do they sneak up on the more dominate programs this season

Who are the more dominant programs? Jimtown? Baugo has some thing’s quietly in the works. If anyone is gonna sneak up, it’s Riley, and based on last year they aren’t gonna be a surprise.

I think it was pretty evident last year with what happened to NP in the state finals how the central part of the state is on another level.  Makes me nostalgic for the “glory years” of northern Indiana football when I was growing up and teams like: Bremen, Jimtown, Northwood, Penn and St Joe were all making multiple trips to Indy to compete for a state title. There were years when 3 teams from the South Bend area were down there. Now it’s rare for anyone to break through.

Bremen admin are host going through the motions, they are fine with the status quo and won’t do anything to encourage kids to get involved. They chalk it up as that’s just the way it is.

Sounds like he's considering seminary.  That's what LCC's Thomas Haan did.  Finished high school in the IHSAA's top 25 passers ... at the time ... went on to Purdue, but then felt called to enter the priesthood.  https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/purdue/2015/10/10/sunday-morning-quarterback-walk--purdue-qb-turned-priest/72980258/

Hope this young man finds what he's looking for or being called to.

I respect this a lot more than others who would rather just not play and partake in bad habits.
