I'd say seeding is the most important issue. Is there another sport at any level where the regular season means nothing? Or is this just an Indiana thing?

Check the receipts. I've always said that it was more accurate at the college level. I've also said that it's pretty good at the high school level after the first couple of rounds of the tournament. At the high school level, I take with a grain of salt up until about the eighth week. Even then, I'm a bit skeptical. Get into regionals though? I think it's pretty good. I've given some laughable examples during the regular season.

Not surprised. Politics plays a factor. The current system is geared toward growth in Indy while leaving the smaller communities behind. As one politician stated, "we want to be like Chicago." Which I'm thankful for. Every time I drive through Indy, I'm reminded why it's nicer to live in a smaller town. But from a football standpoint, the schools in Indy are going to continue outpacing all other areas of the state unless they start breaking the schools in two.

Hasn't that always been the case?

Notre Dame getting left out would be a blessing for the 12 teams that do get in. This is the best team Notre Dame has had since the Lou Holtz era. There's a reason Vegas has them as the fourth most likely team to win the championship. Sagarin sort of likes them as well, coming in at #2.

I really don't see that happening. Maybe a 10% chance.

For comparison sake, Andrean beat Luers 13-0 in Week 2. Not sure how good of a comparison that is being over three months ago. But a comparison nonetheless.

Strongly disagree on this. Again, "you're not good enough to take home the ultimate prize in the class you're in, but now you have to do in one class higher." I just don't see how anyone can make sense of this.

Luers jumped over six 3A enrollment schools. AC jumped over twenty 2A enrollment schools. Luers is the team in question here. They have thirteen state titles, all at the 2A level. They've never won 3A, so it seems odd that they would be bumped to 4A. It's my opinion that a team should not bump up without a championship to show for it. "You're not good enough to win the class you're in, but we're bumping you anyway." Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the sense in that.

Agree. Normally, the better team figures out a way to win in the end. So kudos to New Pal. I'm not sure how much the Pirates losing their starting QB hurt, as the backup looked pretty darn good. But yeah, 21-0 in the fourth? Didn't see that coming.

The two games I had to miss due to the snow storm 😞. Although I felt the New Pal/Merrillville game was entertaining going into the fourth quarter tied at 17 apiece.

Take some credit for this one. "Roncalli Royals Run Away from Dwenger's Stout Defense." Twenty nine points was the most scored against Dwenger this year. You nailed it. You just didn't see the part where Dwenger scored 36 coming.

Thanks for the summary since I didn't see any of it. I think it's good that Frye, Sharpe, and Lewis return next season. Just a good benchmark for everyone else. But it all starts at the top. Center Grove had their run with Moore, now Brownsburg is having theirs with Hart. Hats off to they guy.

Siding with you on this one. I think the IU fans will show out. First ever B1G championship. Largest living alumni base in America. They'll come from all over and pay what they have to. Fifty three percent is the ceiling for OSU.

Never said "anything less than a championship" is a failure. Only a head coach can determine whether or not his team had a successful year. Normally, if a team plays to their potential, that's a successful season. You could go 3-7 and have it considered a success. All I'm saying, is that the goal for every team should be to win the state championship. Anything less than that, then that's going to be your ceiling. I have no issue with the success factor other than it needing a couple of tweaks. First off, it should be a 4-year cycle, not two. Second, if you don't win a state title, you don't advance. Adams Central was moving up due to enrollment anyway, so not really a good example. If a team finishes at runner-up ten years in a row, they shouldn't bump up, period. I'm not bending. If you're not good enough to win the class you're in, moving up to a higher one makes NO SENSE. "Sorry you're not good enough to win the class you are in, but now you have to bump up and do it there instead." That's utter insanity. But again, it's the IHSAA. No desire to write an entire page on it. Is what it is.

Maybe he's playing the "how are they playing now" card. Legit stance if that's what it is. I won't argue with anyone who thinks Carroll would win a second time around. It's 50/50 in my opinion. I might have a slight lean toward Dwenger if I was forced to make a choice. There's just something about the kids on this team.

Seriously? Every team's goal should be to win state. Anything left is unfinished business. I can't imagine you went to law school thinking you'd be the second best attorney. Or, "my goal is to be an average restaurant owner." Or, "I'm going to college to get average grades." I think it's okay for a coach to convey upon his team that the goal is to be the best, nothing less. I don't see the point of bumping up without achieving the reward. Certainly you're not defending the IHSAA on this. Please tell me your not. I can only presume that your in the mood for a debate.
