  1. Is it a good idea for the governor of the state to be involved in these decisions? I may be off base here, but I'm hoping LSU falls to the lowest of the low in football. Teach these governors to stay in their lane?
  2. Why didn't the parents like Sharpe? On the outside looking in, it looks like the guy took over a trainwreck in 2020 and made a competitive program out of them. We know up here in NE Indiana that parents, probably 60% or better, are utterly clueless.
  3. Pretty awesome. I imagine Penn still has one of the best sports cultures in the state. I know they are good at baseball. It's just a matter of time before they're competing for state championships in football again. They have the resources.
  4. Amusing how? That Indianapolis basically dominates everything? Congratulations.
  5. Like I said, human nature to overlook certain things when you're part of the fan base. It's like the abusive relationship. Everyone sees it except for the victim. I'm not going to go as far as blaming Kelly for the death of the ND student. But I am starting to see how he blames everyone but himself for the lack of his success. It all starts at the top. Now, if it was LSU's AD who hired the coordinators without Kelly's input, then Kelly may have an axe to grind. I'm pretty sure those hiring decisions are ultimately made or approved by the head coach though. So yeah, I think most head coaches have to point the finger at themselves. The only gripe are things out of their control. NIL money for a college, enrollment for a high school. To be fair though, enrollment complaints are only reserved for 6A. The other classes are balanced.
  6. Just really putting more stock into coaching than I am competition. I don't know what he is, I just know Noblesville seems to be at the bottom of the HCC most years. It's up to the coach to get them out of it.
  7. I get what you're saying, but why is Noblesville annually in the HCC basement? How come they're players aren't getting better? Could say the same for FW South Side. I've gotta give coaching the upper hand in this one.
  8. Didn't Kelly lead LSU to an SEC title game? Or am I mistaken. I fell into that trap of "liking" Kelly when he was "our" coach at Notre Dame. I think all fan bases fall victim to that. Turns out, the guy really isn't that likable. Makes a lot of excuses when his team loses. But, at the end of the day, the guy is still capable of leading a team. He did it for 11 years at Notre Dame. Someone name 6 or 7 candidates who are better than Kelly at this point. Hell, what would Florida have to lose? What would Penn State have to lose? Not that those schools have any interest in taking LSU's leftovers. UCLA? They'd be mentally insane not to call Brian Kelly.
  9. Because you're a Michigan fan. If you were a Ball State fan, I would have referenced them. You said some things citing potential "character issues." Just wondering if you'd hire him is all.
  10. If you're a Top 5 program...........Florida perhaps and Penn State, you probably don't trust this guy. What about a Top 5-10 program, do you jump all over this guy? Certainly any program ranking 10-25 should consider going after him. We all know this guy can coach. Does it come down to the guys your hire or is it more about the players not relating to him. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this.
  11. Cignetti has the best team in the country with a bunch of 3-Star athletes. Something tells me the players have his respect. He certainly has his player's back by going out on the field to defend him. If you were the AD and Michigan, coach Moore steps down, Cignetti calls and says, "hey, I want this job." Do you hire him?
  12. C'mon, serious?
  13. That's the kind of guy I want leading my team. Hardly makes him a clown.
  14. Reporter: "What scares you about UCLA?" Cignetti: *laughs* "You can't play scared, we have to attack." *runs off* He's one of a kind. Give me an example of his clownish behavior.
  15. Just saying, there are rumblings out there that this team is pretty damn good. Not sure why you think they wouldn't win a playoff game. Like Cignetti said..............."That wasn't a win, that was a warning. We're awake and we're not slowing down." IU has the best coach in the country and it's probably not even close. Freeman is my guy, but I've gotta call it like I see it. "Dude is a clown." Remember that?
  16. I can be a supporter of one, and a fan of another. I root for Purdue, Ball State, and St. Francis as well.
  17. First team since Clemson of 2018 to beat two conference opponents by 50+.
  18. Lol, none of us are. IU was always my #2 after Notre Dame, still are. And if there are any new fans, kudos to them for jumping on board. No one should be forced to support a losing product. I'm bandwagon, for sure. If my team keeps losing, I quit showing up. I'll watch it on TV, but not going to spend an entire day, paying big money to go see a team in person that's underperforming. Long story short? New fans are welcome.
  19. Was going to stay away from this whole conversation, but that comment pissed me off.
  20. Well, at least Notre Dame didn't cheat. Right? Harbaugh had to cheat to achieve the level he did. Plain and simple. Not saying he's not a good coach, he is. But his obsession with winning the title trumped doing things the right way.
  21. I'd never put competition over coaching. Geesman and Isaacs routinely put together the best teams in the state, even after playing a soft schedule. However, I do agree with your second sentence. A northern super conference would be Ideal. I want to say it was DT who first suggested it. First thought for most coaches would be too much travel, but if you dig deep, you'll probably only have two or three long road trips during the regular season.
  22. Fair, but they still have to earn it. Style points.
  23. I agree that it's pre-mature to put him in the same sentence as Leahy, Parseghian, and Holtz. Way pre-mature.
  24. Might as well get used to the fact that ND, barring a massive upset, WILL be going to the playoffs. That's a fact. Will they win the natty? I've got Ohio State, Indiana, and A&M ahead of them right now, so more than likely not. I wouldn't be surprised though if they did. Not sure why were even having this conversation. They guy took ND to the natty last year, and quite frankly would have won had they not been so banged up.
  25. @temptation Why would LSU, Florida, and Penn State all come calling if Freeman wasn't considered one of the five best coaches in the country? Are those three programs just that stupid? @Komets2727 Freeman isn't getting run out of town anytime soon. In fact, I think he'll have a national title within the next three years. Could happen this year.
