Moving up won't change the ICC schedule.  The nice thing about being in the best small school conference in the state is that it is never boring.

Maybe the most impressive stat for Lutheran's senior class is that they never lost an ICC game!

The ICC is the best small school conference in the state. I was going to say that the Hoosier and Hoosier North can make an argument, but after researching those conferences, they really can't.

Seeger gave us the worst feeling from a loss in 2003 as well. Up 21-0 @ half and lost 22-21 after settling for a FG that was missed. At the time, the best RB in school history (2 after him could say they are possibly) could have punched it in and sealed the deal for a state trip. Instead it was another semi state loss & that one was heartbreaking.

Was the kicker talented, or just average? Kinda sounds like a Seahawks Superbowl situation to me.

Not sure travel has had much to with my Flying Jets struggles. We are what 2-12 and hopefully can make it 3-12 Friday night or we can be 2-13. Ran into some Pioneer, LCC, & Sheridan buzzsaws before to name a few.

Yeah, the favorite often seems to come from that Pioneer, Sheridan, LCC semi-state, and often times they've already beaten one of the other named teams on the way, and are battle tested to boot. At one point Seeger was really good and was in that group as well, although that's been a good 15 years. Pioneer kept losing before semi-state due to the combination of the Seeger, LCC, and Sheridan buzzsaw until the Kiser era.

  4. I remember that when I played sports and had a long bus ride, for many it was nap time. Don't forget that it gets dark earlier right now, so sleeping is easier.

Does this possibly mean that the long-traveling team actually has an advantage due to extra rest, opposed to the home team, in which the players were probably hanging out with their buddies and teammates before the game?

Wow...just say EXACTLY what you are hinting at!

The "micro aggressive" deference is obvious to anyone with a brain.

    City = those guys?

County = guys 'like the majority"?

You'll have to ask the Scecina fans if it was meant to be a racial joke or not. Honestly, I never even remotely thought of it as being a racial joke, but I see it now that's it's been explained to me. I just always took it as a hilariously asinine comment.

It’s my 2nd favorite GID post as far as being kinda funny.
#1 will always be the Liptons guy Puffs saying North Davies could compete with LCC in 2009!
99% of the GID knows you meant no harm

That was a classic! A lot of those threads were a lot of fun back then. I remember the 2008 Sheridan/LCC thread being especially rowdy.

It was a joke based on the Scecina/LCC threads from over a decade ago, as other posters have stated. It was definitely not meant to be discriminatory in any way, shape, or form, nor would I have made the comment if I had known that there would be a possibility of anybody even thinking that.

knock I've heard which I just hate hearing is that major programs didn't know how to really evaluate Mockabee because of the smallish school he played for down south, seemed silly to me, especially with his track success, you know he is just a freak of an athlete.   Glad he chose the Boilers.   I think Dowing was a Carmel kid who took scholly to UNLV, for a year and then came back.

I wonder how much the covid years as log jammed some positions that would normally be scholly kids that just have to wait a year.??

Mockabee was the first walk-on I've ever been excited about getting. I was honestly expecting him to be a high 3-star, low 4-star player with all of his track success and what-not. COVID probably limited his recruiting and camp exposure.

I figured he would get a few looks with the depth being so thin at RB, I just didn't think that he would be this good so quickly.

Some kids are just ATHLETES, it doesn't matter what school they played for or who they played. Mockobee, Big George, Coy Cronk. Jack Kiser, the Anthrops, and Nick Zachary are just a few that come to mind.

You’re going to upset Andy and the Stat boy! I gotta go

I'm too busy with kids, work, and school these days, plus I don't even live in the area anymore. I haven't been to a game in 4 years, although I do watch here and there online.

All good things come to an end eventually and Pioneer had one heck of a run. Hopefully it's a mere bump in the road and Pioneer will be back before too long.

I think you may be right. I recall driving by the practice field that week and seeing Coach Lambert and his players performing a rain dance in lieu of practice.

That's what you saw, but it doesn't tell the entire story. Coach Lambo and his staff spent the entire week researching weather patterns and the correct rituals to bring torrential downpours. Many aren't aware of this, but the wrong rituals will summon a nasty curse.

Coach Lambo inspected the field on gameday and decided to start on the side that was much less muddy. With a little luck his Jay's won the toss. Winamac was unable to get anything going in the deep mud and the game was over by halftime. The end.

Logansport seems to have a better team this year.  With Kiser gone, maybe the good football players are going back to Logansport to play for the old Pioneer coach.  Going from 1a to 2a back to 1a can also hurt a team.

There haven't been any high-profile Logan/Pioneer transfers that I'm aware of. Pioneer was supposed to be down this year and it's looked that way for a while. They're in a down cycle talent wise right now.

According to Maxpreps, the roster has 38 this year and 34 during the past two seasons, but they only had 33 on the roster during Kiser's senior year. In 2015 there were 47 players, and in 2016 there were 58 players on the roster. I just assumed that the roster size would balloon after they won a couple of state titles, but it hasn't apparently.

I still think LaVille is the beat team in that conf but that LaVille Judson is gonna be a doozy.

Pioneer on the verge of their first losing season since the 95 campaign.

First time they've lost TWO conference games since 2001.

    Wow. Didn't think it'd come.

Same. Does anyone have any insight into why Pioneer's numbers are down despite the fact that their enrollment has increased in the past few years?

Why haven't any new Pioneer state championship signs been posted on the edges of town for any of the recent titles in four sports? Where is the sign bragging about Jack Kiser being Mr. Football? I was told before that it wasn't in the budget, but surely a few of the areas wealthy farmers and business owners could come up with the funds, right? Has it not been in the budget due to the recent field renovations? I bring this up because these are the types of small things that continue to motivate the students to pursue excellence. If I was a kid and saw a picture of Jack Kiser everyday, I would want to grow up to be just as successful as he was! Jack, as the first and only 1A Mr. Football, is a continuous inspiration to the entire community.

Walter is making his picks , then proceeds to tell you he wouldn’t be surprised if he’s wrong?  So why not pick the other team?  Seems as though he is covering all the bases!

I interpreted Walter's post as him believing that three games would probably be tightly contested. He picked three teams winning by 12, 9, and 3. Those sound like close games to me.
