    Very South Spencer-esque.

It only takes a few HH mistakes early for Southridge to force HH into a different style of offensive play. I'm not sure if HH has had its "bad" regular season game, but if it's going to happen, , it'll likely be this week after a huge win against a familiar and disciplined foe in the Raiders.

We had a 6 quarter period that was pretty bad, Patriot 74 already mentioned the Jasper game but the following Friday at North Posey we had 3 more turnovers all in the first half ( 2 fumbles and 1 interception ) In addition to the lost fumbles we had 2 or 3 other fumbles in those 2 games we recovered. If we had put the ball on the ground against the Titans like we did against Jasper and North Posey we probable wouldn't be talking about a unbeaten matchup.

I don't if you would call it a wing T maybe, maybe not., but its a lot of misdirection. I felt both SR and HH had similar offenses against us. If I were to compare both teams HH seemed like the better team. They  came off the line harder and stayed on their blocks a bit better than SR, but SR threw the ball more than HH did.

I wonder if there is any chance the SR QB will be back for this game ?? Injured in week 3 and had surgery the next week I believe, Paper said 4-6 weeks but maybe a quick healer.

According to MaxPreps Taylor was 19 out of 32 for 470 yards with 7 touchdowns and 4 Interceptions in 3 games,

His replacement Niehaus is 12 out of 26 for 324 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.

They have matched up with Pike Central in the 3A playoffs several times haven’t they? (Most notably 1986)

I don’t know when that series started though. I just seem to remember HH, GS, PC, NP, Princeton, and Southridge all consolidating around the same era in the early 70’s.

Yeah I missed Pike Central we have played them 48 times including 3 time in sectionals. Pike and Gibson first season was 1974 we played Petersburgh , Fort Branch and Haubstadt in 1972 and 1973. Also we had one season the Pike game was canceled and not made up because the Charger head coach committed suicide.

South Spencer and I believe North Posey both consolidated before Heritage Hills and Pike Central and Gibson Southern after Heritage Hills.

Heritage Hills didn't open until the midway point of the 1972-1973 school year and the Heritage Hills home games were played at Dale High School under the Heritage Hills name in 1972. They even had co-Homecoming Queens in 1972 a North-South with one from Chrisney and one from Dale.

    Here is our first season.

I didn't know about the 2 homecoming queens until this past season Jon was wanting to develop a player database  for the upcoming HH Hall of fame plaza and needed list of ex-players so I went to library and was taking pictures of old football team pictures in the old yearbooks and in the 1973 book saw the homecoming picture.

  4. Southridge 6-0 at Heritage Hills 6-0

This is the 50th time Heritage Hills and Southridge have met on the gridiron and the Patriots lead the series 35-14. Southridge is one of only 3 teams that was on the Patriot football schedule in their inaugural season in 1972 that the Patriots have played at least once every season since.

Both teams come into this game 4-0 in conference play. The Patriots are averaging 43.7 ppg and giving up 6.7 ppg and the Raiders are averaging 37.5 ppg and giving up 13.0 ppg.

HH held Brady in check for 3 qtrs. HH line did get pressure on him more often than not, but Allen has good feet and throws well when flushed. This kid lit every team up he has faced, for HH to get 3INT and limit him to 14 pts is a statement

In 3 games against us counting both games last season he's 42 out of 86  for 538 yards with 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Anyone have any longer footage of the game that shows line play, other than just highlights? It seemed like HH struggled to pressure Allen, according to the highlights and stats.

HH also seemed to always have a safety over the top and then play soft man-to-man on the back end.

What happened with HH's two punts for 4 yards? Block, bad snap, shank? Those will bite the Patriots against the Raiders and in the sectional...

If it was originally listed as 4 yard average it was probably a error with digital scout and had been corrected we punted  twice and had a 46 yard average.

Gibson Southern Turnovers are listed wrong also they had 3 interceptions and a loss fumble.

...is there no local pizza place or diner that’s good out in the Santa Claus area? Like something similar to a Sandy’s  pizza or Log Inn?

Outside of convenience stores there isn't much in the way of restaurants between Heritage Hills and Santa Claus. Hoosier land Pizza and Wings is the closest to the high school  in Santa Claus they have Brick Oven Pizza and a Subway. Cant think of much else but plenty of Pizza options Caseys, Circle S and Stoneridge Station all sell pizza and other food.

Denny's will usually fill with players an hour or two after the game, but should have seats immediately after. There's also a Wendy's. I believe Lincoln Land pizza going by HH is closed and likely wouldn't be open after the game.

On 231, I would turn right into Dale and stop at Jenks Pizza for a local establishment... Probably best to avoid the Chateau in Mariah Hill after the game or Santa Claus Legion... Although if you are feeling adventurous, go for it.

Jenks it is then. I suggest the strombolli.

Ferdinand has McDonalds, Wendy's and   Taco Bell . Dale, Santa Claus and Ferdinand all have Subway.

Completely agree!!!  Too many kids think they HAVE to commit to one sport instead of be competitive in two or three, and football is always the sport dropped "because it's too dangerous"!  I can tell you right now there a several, and I mean several kids that could, and should be playing football at HH and are not!!

I can think of a few that gave up other sports but it does seem like football is dropped the most. The Buse kid that transferred to Tecumseh was really good at Football, Basketball and Baseball as a freshman but decided after his freshman season to give up basketball and concentrate on Football and Baseball.

I would imagine   AAU is as much to blame as football being dangerous...At HH we have kids that go from basketball season to spring AAU to summer basketball then back to AAU  when the IHSAA moratorium kicks in and then play in the Pocket City fall league and right back to basketball season.

Can you imagine if we still had Scherry playing football ?? 6'2" good jumper, good hands , speed and can even kick, booted a 34-yard field goal as time was running out his freshman season to beat Gibson Southern in a JV game. I would guess he would be the top receiver on the team and one of if not top defensive back.

As much as I would love to see him playing football I can understand why he gave it up 2 time all-conference in both basketball and baseball and verbally committed to Evansville baseball but still getting college looks in basketball.

Heard they may have switched QBs.  If so I think Bender the sophomore makes NP more prolific.

Sophomore Bender   # 7 started  and number 13 came in with the 2nd team. Bender looked like a good athlete and quick but struggled against the Patriot experienced secondary he finished 2 of 11 for 19 yards and 4 interceptions and had 4 rushes for negative 4 yards.

Heritage Hills QB/DB Cole Sigler had one of those games against NP that you just don't see come around very often.

The senior had a 42 yard punt return for a TD in the 2nd quarter.  He returned the 2nd-half kick-off 97 yards for a score.  On the 1st play of HH's next series, he took one 77 yards to the house.  And then, on NP's next play from scrimmage, Sigler intercepted a tipped pass and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown.  That's 4 TD's in 4 different ways.  The only thing missing was a passing TD (or I guess a receiving TD if you want to get picky about it).

Unofficially, we had Sigler with 120 rushing yards on 6 carries.  We had him 6-12 passing for 54 yards and his first INT of the season. (BTW, that was a really nice play by Lowe for NP on that pick.  The ball was probably a bit underthrown, but it was still a heckuva play. And I like the Bender kid.  The NP coaches think the soph lefty has a bright future and I can see why.)

Last time I can remember a Heritage Hills player score  4 different ways was Kenton Crews 2014 against Southridge. Punt Return, Interception return, Reception and Rush.

  12. History
This is the 43rd meeting between Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern and the Patriots lead the series 31-11, The Patriots also faced three  teams that consolidated into Gibson Southern in the 1972 and 1973 seasons and went 0-2 VS. Fort Branch, 1-1 VS. Haubstadt and 2-0 VS. Owensville. In the first season of Patriot football the Patriots went 9-1 and their only loss was a 15-12 defeat by Fort Branch.

The Titans won the first 3 meetings in the series  beating Roger Snow’s Patriots in 1974, 75 and 76 and the Patriots didn’t beat them for the first time until 1977 the year Bob Ashworth became the Patriots head coach, that season was hall of famer Bob Claytons only season as Offensive Cordinator at Heritage Hills the following
season Ashworth moved onto Evansville Reitz and Clayton took over the Heritage Hills program..
The Titans have won 7 of the last 11 meetings starting with a win in 2010 that snapped the Patriots streak of 21 straight wins over the Titans. Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern have played 5 overtime games in the series  including a 7-0 five overtime game  in 1982.
