Bloomington South 34 New Albany 14 (final) South's coaching staff has to feel pretty good about this win considering it was the season opener on the road and they pretty much controlled both lines of scrimmage for most of the game. The Bulldog's had just one TD on a sustained drive, a 60-yard drive, with the other TD coming after a pass deep in the New Albany red zone was tipped and picked and returned deep into South territory. We'll see how things go next week against Martinsville in another road game, and the Artesians are probably a better team than New Albany. New Albany had a lot of new faces on offense and it showed in this game, but they had eight defensive starters returning from last season, but South was still able to move the ball on them, so they have some things to work on.

Bloomington South 34 New Albany 14 (late 4th) South moved quickly down the field after the Bulldog TD and scored on a 15-yard run.

Bloomington South 27 New Albany 14 (6:44, 4th) New Albany pretty much had a score handed to them when South was driving down inside the Bulldog 15 yard line and had a pass tipped and intercepted and returned to the South 26-yard line. The Bulldogs scored two plays later.

Bloomington South 27 New Albany 7 (end of 3rd) It was a scoreless 3rd. South played a pretty clean first half when it came to penalties, but had 40 yards in penalties in the 3rd which stalled two drives in Bulldog territory.

Edgewood 31 Mitchell 8 (end of 3rd)

Bloomington South 27 New Albany 7 (mid 3rd) South was their worst enemy at the start of the 3rd. After punting the ball on their opening possession of the 3rd, the Bulldogs fumbled the ball away at the 27-yard line of New Albany. But South turned around and was hit with a chop block penalty and then a PF penalty which pushed them way back after getting down around the 10-yard line and they missed a 41-yard FG attempt.

Bloomington South 27 New Albany 7 (half) South's completely rebuilt O-line looked good in the first half in both run blocking and pass protection. South's defense came up with two picks and a strip sack in the half, although the last pick came on a Hail Mary pass at the end of the half. South will receive the ball to start the 2nd half.

Mooresville 14 Bloomington North 0 (1:43, 1st) After blocking a 36 yard FG attempt by North, Mooresville drives 53 yards for another TD.

Mooresville 7 Bloomington North 0 (9:16, 1st) The Pioneers score on an opening 80 yard drive aided by penalties on North to include a big PI. Patterson threw a 28 yd TD pass.

Cathedral 35 New Albany 7 (5:00, 2nd) I don't know where it stands right now, but the Irish had 158 rushing yards to 3 yards for the Bulldogs at the end of the 1st. I'm kind of glad that it is New Albany and not South taking this beating. With the loss last week by South, at least Coach J.R. Holmes gets the three football-playing basketball players back in time to get enough practices in for the start of the season.
