It should be a really good test for our front 7 which I am extremely high on. -

FC 38-10 over Jeffersonville. Coach Bragg called the dogs off real early in preparation for next week. Wenkers Wright did not play. Was in uniform and looked fine walking around. I’m guessing they felt they didn’t need him. FC came out of the game pretty healthy. Polk was a monster with 4 TDs in this game. He threw some absolute bombs. Some of the longest throws I’ve seen over here. Andrew Spurgeon ran the ball really well and probably had over 100 yards. Defense really stuffed the run all night. On to next week. I think coach Weber is a solid coach. I just don’t think they’ve had the horses lately. -

HHC schools with Big Ten tied Fight Songs. Floyd Central-Minnesota Rouser Jeffersonville-On Wisconsin Seymour-On Wisconsin Jennings County-On Wisconsin New Albany-Hail to Old IU(not an IU fight song, it’s the Alma Mater song). -

Floyd Central uses the F from the University of Florida. Its commonplace for HS teams to do that. Our Fight Song is the Minnesota Rouser from the University of Minnesota. Several HHC schools use Big Ten fight songs. -

HHC Mid-Season Power Rankings. 1. Columbus East-The Os have played a very difficult schedule to this point. They also have the leagues best win to this point. They are the top dog in this conference untill another team can knock them off. 2. Floyd Central-The Highlanders have been what most expected. Dominated inferior teams. Lost by a good margin to a big time out of state program. They’ll have their chance against East. For better or worse. 3. New Albany-The Dogs are better. They have a good offense. But they’re still lacking on defense. Other than East, they could win out. 4. BNL-I think the Stars are coming around. Weber seems to know what hes doing. They have a chance to finish over .500. 5. Jeffersonville-The Red Devils have struggled. But they haven’t struggled as much as the teams behind them. 6. Seymour-The Owls have beaten Madison and Jennings County handily. That’s really all that needs to be said. 7. Madison-Because the Cubs have actually been close to winning a couple of games. 8. Jennings County-The Panthers have some really nice new football facilities. For now they’ll have to focus on that. -

We have the QB. So slowing down the East running game will be the big challenge. I like it! -

I think New Albany is probably the 3rd best team in the HHC. They did beat B-South. And beat a top 10 2A team(I know, it’s still 2-A). They have talent. And a Big Offensive Line. But there is more to football than Jimmies and Joes. -

Providence and Jeffersonville are awful. I’ll give you that. But Elder vs NA would have been ugly of epic proportions. -

You all don’t know how much I love this. Floyd Central quarterback Tristan Polk said the noise leading up to Friday only put a chip on the team’s shoulders. “We played hard all three weeks so far and now four. We felt disrespected, disrespected that New Albany would be ranked higher than us,” he said. “We felt we played better teams and better against the same teams we played. We were offended and we came out and shows how much better we were.” Hungry team. -

56-19. Floyd over NA. Final. Jeffersonville for the second time, next week. And then the big one after that. Gotta stay healthy. -

56-19 Floyd. Andrew Spurgeon running the ball well for Floyd. -

Floyd up 49-19. Start of the 4th. Wenkers Wright hasn’t played in the second half. Don’t think it’s anything serious though. -

We are too big and talented for them. FC has dominated the line of scrimmage. NA did handily beat Bloomington South. Albeit a down version. -

Floyd Central 42 New Albany 13 Half I am extremely disappointed. I expected this to be a heck of a game. I’m going to be polite about this. Floyd is just a mile ahead of their rival. -

It is also possible, that perhaps I read someone else’s opinion and change my opinions. That happens in life. You obviously know what you’re talking about. -

I will say it once more so it sinks in. I was not trying to criticize them. I was discussing their current football situation. -

Fair points indeed. It’s definitely not a shot at them. I would just personally like to see them do better. Communities like that could benefit from a good HS Football team. -

Madison. Here is a little blurb about them. Virtually everything that could go wrong for Madison did on Friday, a comedy of errors that took the Cubs from what could have been their first win of the season to an embarrassing blowout loss. There were interceptions (three of them) and fumbles (three more), a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and another botched snap on a punt that ended with a safety. Four unsportsmanlike penalties and 120 yards in penalties were just the icing on the cake. About the only thing that went right for Madison was when officials mercifully decided, on the last play of the game, to wipe a second safety off the board. Im not trying to be harsh here. But this doesn’t seem like a team that is well coached. I mean, I know they have a shortage of talent and have for a while, but you would think Madison could find a coach that can teach fundamentals. I thought after week 1 they would be improved but it seems they’re going backwards. I know they’re leaving the HHC, but does it matter? They can’t hardly beat anyone. You would think they could find a good 1-A coach or something that would come there. Heck, I’m sure East has some Assistants that would do better there. -

They just need 4 more guys like him, and they’d definitely beat East. Lol. -

This weeks matchups Columbus East at Jeff; The Red Devils have really struggled. And East has played nothing but high quality competition. This will be a practice game for East. I have the Os by a score of 57-0. BNL vs Madison; Madison still looks like Madison. They have one foot out the door. The coaching and talent in Lawrence County is better than Jefferson County. I have the Stars winning big. 35-0. Seymour at JC-The Owls played much better last Friday. They definitely have the best team in this matchup. I see the Owls winning here 27-7. FC at NA; Game of the week. Battle of the Rusty Anchor. FC has won 5 in a row in the series. The Dogs are the most improved team in the HHC. Really strong running game with a lot of athletic guys running it. Already a few decent wins under their belt. FC looked great in their two wins, but hit a roadblock against probably a top 3 team in Ohio. Still, they did show some good stuff offensively in that matchup. Their passing game against NA will be the difference. I see some points being scored between too really motivated sides. I’ll take my Highlanders in this one, 35-28. -

Floyd Central and New Albany are pretty good schools. I don’t think I would send my kids to Jeffersonville. Silver Creek is a really good school too with really nice facilities. I really wish they could join the HHC because they are pretty similar to FC just with less students. -

It’s funny cuz people around here talk about how Floyd is up to about 2000 kids. Probably a little less. But I’m like, “have y’all seen the schools up North?“ Lol. -

Elder 42 FC 14 Elder was in control the entire game and was the better, bigger, faster team for sure. FC did some good things on offense. Was in the RedZone a few times where they didn’t score or they may have had a few more TDs. I don’t think we will see another passing attack like that for a while. Some good games coming up with a Rivalry game against a much improved New Albany team and a what will definitely be a tough matchup with East. I hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend!
