  1. My bad. Must have read the date wrong. Correction. Madison vs Mitchell. I’ll take the Cubs in that one.
  2. Week 6 Matchups Madison at Jeffersonville -The Cubs just won their first game. Jeffersonville has been struggling but they continue to play hard for coach Parker. They get to open up in their new stadium and I think they’ll be fired up in that one. I’m going with Jeffersonville by a score of 28-13. Seymour at Brownstown-The battle of Jackson County. Seymour has done good things at times but Brownstown is really tough as usual. I’m going with coach Reed Mays bunch by a score of 35-21. Connersville at Jennings County-I don’t know much about Connersville, but I don’t expect Jennings County to win a game this year. With their new facilities hopefully they’ll get better. I’m going with Connersville by a score of 28-7. New Albany at Bloomington North-New Albany has a solid offense. But I feel like BNHS has the better team right now. They blanked BNL a few weeks ago. I’m going with Bloomington North by a score of 41-17. BNL at THS-This is an interesting game. But I think BNL finds a way to get this one. I’ll go with the Stars by a score of 21-14. Columbust East at Floyd Central- This is obviously the marquee matchup. Most expect this to be the HHC Championship game. East obviously rolls in with almost 2 decades of HHC supremacy. FC is a really solid and confident bunch. But make no mistake, East won’t come down here and overlook them. Coach Gaddis and his staff no doubt, have respect for Coach Braggs program. I’m expecting this game to start off competitive and then who knows where it goes from there? In a very tough head vs heart pick, I’m going with the O’s here by a score of 38-24. I hope I’m wrong though.
  3. I’m real worried about Parks. Not sure FC has seen a QB that can do the stuff with his legs like he can. This is obviously the best running team FC has seen as Elder was a prolific passing team.
  4. We still have about 750 fans at every game. It’s definitely not what it normally can be though. I’m excited to play a really good East team over there. These running clock games have been boring. Lol. Hopefully it’s a good game. As far as strategy, FC definitely is better vs the run then vs pass. I do expect that East is going to move the ball and score some points. I just hope we can avoid the 40+ yd TD runs. Big plays have killed us against East.
  5. Wright is expected to be 100% for that game so that will help. Polk can hurt their defense if he has enough time. East usually wins the line of scrimmage against us. That is going to have to change. I like how we matchup but gameday is where it matters. We’ll have to stop McDonald from really getting going. I expect East to put up some points it’s just a matter of can Floyd score enough to keep up.
  6. I just hope it’s competitive. There have been other years I thought we had some for East and it ended up not being close. Hopefully these guys are ready. We’ll see what happens.
  7. It should be a really good test for our front 7 which I am extremely high on.
  8. FC 38-10 over Jeffersonville. Coach Bragg called the dogs off real early in preparation for next week. Wenkers Wright did not play. Was in uniform and looked fine walking around. I’m guessing they felt they didn’t need him. FC came out of the game pretty healthy. Polk was a monster with 4 TDs in this game. He threw some absolute bombs. Some of the longest throws I’ve seen over here. Andrew Spurgeon ran the ball really well and probably had over 100 yards. Defense really stuffed the run all night. On to next week. I think coach Weber is a solid coach. I just don’t think they’ve had the horses lately.
  9. HHC schools with Big Ten tied Fight Songs. Floyd Central-Minnesota Rouser Jeffersonville-On Wisconsin Seymour-On Wisconsin Jennings County-On Wisconsin New Albany-Hail to Old IU(not an IU fight song, it’s the Alma Mater song).
  10. Floyd Central uses the F from the University of Florida. Its commonplace for HS teams to do that. Our Fight Song is the Minnesota Rouser from the University of Minnesota. Several HHC schools use Big Ten fight songs.
  11. HHC Mid-Season Power Rankings. 1. Columbus East-The Os have played a very difficult schedule to this point. They also have the leagues best win to this point. They are the top dog in this conference untill another team can knock them off. 2. Floyd Central-The Highlanders have been what most expected. Dominated inferior teams. Lost by a good margin to a big time out of state program. They’ll have their chance against East. For better or worse. 3. New Albany-The Dogs are better. They have a good offense. But they’re still lacking on defense. Other than East, they could win out. 4. BNL-I think the Stars are coming around. Weber seems to know what hes doing. They have a chance to finish over .500. 5. Jeffersonville-The Red Devils have struggled. But they haven’t struggled as much as the teams behind them. 6. Seymour-The Owls have beaten Madison and Jennings County handily. That’s really all that needs to be said. 7. Madison-Because the Cubs have actually been close to winning a couple of games. 8. Jennings County-The Panthers have some really nice new football facilities. For now they’ll have to focus on that.
  12. We have the QB. So slowing down the East running game will be the big challenge. I like it!
  13. I think New Albany is probably the 3rd best team in the HHC. They did beat B-South. And beat a top 10 2A team(I know, it’s still 2-A). They have talent. And a Big Offensive Line. But there is more to football than Jimmies and Joes.
  14. Providence and Jeffersonville are awful. I’ll give you that. But Elder vs NA would have been ugly of epic proportions.
  15. You all don’t know how much I love this. Floyd Central quarterback Tristan Polk said the noise leading up to Friday only put a chip on the team’s shoulders. “We played hard all three weeks so far and now four. We felt disrespected, disrespected that New Albany would be ranked higher than us,” he said. “We felt we played better teams and better against the same teams we played. We were offended and we came out and shows how much better we were.” Hungry team.
  16. 56-19. Floyd over NA. Final. Jeffersonville for the second time, next week. And then the big one after that. Gotta stay healthy.
  17. 56-19 Floyd. Andrew Spurgeon running the ball well for Floyd.
  18. Floyd up 49-19. Start of the 4th. Wenkers Wright hasn’t played in the second half. Don’t think it’s anything serious though.
  19. We are too big and talented for them. FC has dominated the line of scrimmage. NA did handily beat Bloomington South. Albeit a down version.
  20. Floyd Central 42 New Albany 13 Half I am extremely disappointed. I expected this to be a heck of a game. I’m going to be polite about this. Floyd is just a mile ahead of their rival.
  21. It is also possible, that perhaps I read someone else’s opinion and change my opinions. That happens in life. You obviously know what you’re talking about.
  22. I will say it once more so it sinks in. I was not trying to criticize them. I was discussing their current football situation.
  23. Fair points indeed. It’s definitely not a shot at them. I would just personally like to see them do better. Communities like that could benefit from a good HS Football team.
  24. Madison. Here is a little blurb about them. Virtually everything that could go wrong for Madison did on Friday, a comedy of errors that took the Cubs from what could have been their first win of the season to an embarrassing blowout loss. There were interceptions (three of them) and fumbles (three more), a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and another botched snap on a punt that ended with a safety. Four unsportsmanlike penalties and 120 yards in penalties were just the icing on the cake. About the only thing that went right for Madison was when officials mercifully decided, on the last play of the game, to wipe a second safety off the board. Im not trying to be harsh here. But this doesn’t seem like a team that is well coached. I mean, I know they have a shortage of talent and have for a while, but you would think Madison could find a coach that can teach fundamentals. I thought after week 1 they would be improved but it seems they’re going backwards. I know they’re leaving the HHC, but does it matter? They can’t hardly beat anyone. You would think they could find a good 1-A coach or something that would come there. Heck, I’m sure East has some Assistants that would do better there.
  25. They just need 4 more guys like him, and they’d definitely beat East. Lol.
