  1. That was my era. They had a QB named Danny Capes. They could throw it a little bit. BNL had some good guys. The Spreen guys. I think that was early Brett Szabo days. Joe Goodman at Seymour. Early Bob Gaddis. The good ole days!
  2. I’ve met him a few times. Really nice guy. I think him and Bragg are pretty good buddies, I saw them sitting together at a couple of basketball games in late winter so I’m not suprised. If Papenhaus hadn’t been hired at Seymour he’d be on the staff as well because I know he’s also pretty good friends with Bragg. Another good coach. Seymour will do well.
  3. Zimmerman is actually a good coach. That’s just a ridiculously hard job. Dropping down was a good decision. They need to rack up some wins and get some momentum going. Get some kids excited about football. There is nothing harder than recruiting kids from the hallways to play for teams that always lose.
  4. Interesting coaching update. Former New Albany coach Steve Cooley is on Floyd Centrals staff now. Not sure what his role is but I’m sure it’s on the offensive side. That’s a pretty big move because he’s a really good offensive mind. Not sure what happened at New Albany but they’re almost Jeffersonville-lite when it comes to football culture.
  5. I’d say by the time we see them late in the season, they should be pretty tough. What all does Gibson have this year? Who are the players to keep an eye on? We play you guys pretty early.
  6. This Senior Class beat Louisville St Xs Freshman team by 3 TDs a few years ago. They didn’t lose a game together for 4 seasons. Yes, they have a WR moving to QB. But he was probably the most talented QB on the roster. Their starting RB runs a 4.47 40. Their OL is big. Their WRs are pretty athletic. I do like their team this season. I don’t expect to beat GS and Memorial. They’re better programs. I was just asking a question. Lol. I’m aware that GS is a powerhouse. You’re not fooling me.
  7. Since the team I follow is going to play them. How good is Gibson Southern and Evansville Memorial this season, compared to last year. Or the years before? What can we expect? I admit that I know very little about them other than the fact that they’re both very successful.
  8. I consider you a loyal fan. And at some point, East will be winning again. Maybe not at the Gaddis level, but good enough to win Conference and Sectional Championships.
  9. I can’t wait to get Bloomington South in this conference. For no other reason than we’ll actually have some fans in this thread. We used to have a lot of East and BNL fans on here, but besides Tundra, they’re all gone.
  10. This is Floyd Centrals best team in decades too.
  11. Well coach Bragg is certainly the dean of coaches in this conference now. I do think it’s kind of neat to see 4 new HCs. They could all be home run hires. We have no idea? Jeffersonville honestly had the one with the proven track record but he bailed. Papenhaus is a good coach. Silver Creek just doesn’t produce much football talent yet. Campbell was the OC for some pretty bad Ben Davis teams. I’m not saying he’s to blame, but you just never know. Marc Clark was a really good hire for New Albany. He’s been a Kentucky District coach of the year 3 times. He had some pretty solid seasons at Hopkinsville and McCracken County HS. AI likes Marc Clark. The overall record doesn’t jump off the page, but it hides a dramatic turnaround. Early years were rebuilding seasons. His teams improved every season. Final two years (2015-16): 20-4. Won District Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Named Western Kentucky Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2016. Produced more than 10 college football signees during his six seasons. Built one of Kentucky’s stronger strength and conditioning programs, with multiple state powerlifting championships. McCracken County High School (2017-2021) Overall record: 32-25 During his five seasons: Won four consecutive Class 6A District 1 championships. Made the state playoffs every season. Left the program with a winning record before returning to Hopkinsville in 2022.
  12. My “I know very little about these teams” HHC predictions. 1. Floyd Central. I’m a Homer. Always. But in this case, probably the only pick here. Jackson Stone at QB and their offensive weapons are going to be fun as hell to watch. Defensively, there could be questions. 2. East. I’m going to pick East here because I think they hired a pretty good coach and we know they have footballers in that building. 3. BNL. I like their coach as well and they produce some athletes. 4. New Albany. New coach. Seems credible. They have athletes. People are high on their young talent. 5. Seymour. They had a decent program going but losing coach Moore sucks. They’ll be competitive at times, I’m sure. 6. Jeffersonville. Will continue to be a dumpster fire. They continue to prove that to us. I’d be shocked if my Highlanders don’t sweep the conference. The real question is, can they beat any of Gibson Southern, Whiteland, or Evansville Memorial? Can they win 2 of 3? Can they actually play a competitive game in a regional? Coach Bragg has done a good job, and they have a respectable program. But can they progress?
  13. Yep. I’m excited that football season is almost here. I can hear the whistles and smell the turf already.
  14. Very understandable. It is a tough job. An incredibly tough job.
  15. In regards to AJ. I know AJ. One of my best friends is close with him and his wife. AJ is one hell of a good guy. He’s a very smart guy. Jeffersonville is just a tough row to hoe.
  16. Impartial Observer hit the nail on the head. They need someone they can pull strings with and control. There are some really good coaches at FC that wanted the job. Someone told me that there was a pretty well known former HHC football coach interested. However, the NAFCS school board sucks. They want someone who can also be a school administrator(Assistant Principal.) They don’t really give a shit about Athletics in Floyd County anymore unless it’s New Albany basketball. I hope we keep Coach Bragg for as long as possible because after his era is over, I have serious doubts they’d find a good replacement. There were some damn good candidates in that pool too. At least 3-4 guys that I know for a fact would be amazing.
  17. You should explain it to me. That’s a State Law.
  18. I don’t remember doing that anytime recently. And If I have then yes, I’ve woke up recently.
  19. Not necessarily Football related, but Charlestown HS Principal Bill Eihusen was named the Principal at Floyd Central today. The AD spot is still open. However I have heard some promising news on that end. That should wrap up at the next school board meeting.
  20. Honestly, If I think I can do better, I should apply for it.
  21. I am someone who used to complain about officials. Whether as an athlete, or as a spectator. One day I woke up and realized, that these guys sacrifice a lot to do this. Time and travel. It doesn’t pay all that well. Without officials, no HS sports spectating for me. I will take a few bad or more likely, “missed” calls against my team, if that keeps HS sports running on the tracks.
  22. Yeah I like Joe. I know the Witten family. They passed on a lot of good candidates for that guy. But that was the School Board that hired him. Too much Bulldog pride on the School Board right now.
  23. Let me get the tape measure out boys.
  24. I didn’t know if you all heard but the Floyd Central AD position is open again. Maybe they’ll hire someone who actually knows something about sports instead of an administrative person this time. I already miss Jeff Cerqueria. I did recommend Impartial Observer for the job but apparently he declined when they refused to offer him a 7 figure salary.
  25. As one of the biggest Floyd Central homers around, even I’m having a hard time going with that 5A prediction. We’ve never even won a Regional. I need to see that happen first.
