You have to layoff the sauce.  Have you seen our schedule? What's great about it? We're traveling all over Southern Indiana to play the weakest schedule we've had in years. Five 1A teams, two 2A, one 3A, and one 4A.  Oh, and our five road games average 125 miles round trip.  No clue why we're traveling 430 miles to play four 1A teams on the road (other road game is at Boonville).

I was referring to a reduced travel time if in the WIC! Yes Im quite familiar with our schedule traveling all over the southern part of the state I don't see it helps much. No sauce involved...thank you.

I will pick MD 24 – 21 but only because I am an unabashed homer…  Best of luck to both teams for a well-played game and safe travels to all fans, esp. the MD faithful who will be on the road again for another 7-8 hour Nap Town Turn-around.

I will as well pick MD but I thought Linton would be playing them. AS MD said Victors/Spoils. 24-21 feels good but if the Wildcats are hot they will score a LOT more. Just a thought. And that's what I predicted for Linton.lol

Side note for those of us not up on our time zones, this is a 6:30 local time start. For those coming in from Evansville, that area can get a little congested at that time of day

Is the game not at U of I? If not you guys gonna bring a concession  trailer! I hope tailgating will be allowed? I say that because your fans really took great care of the Miner fans when we showed up.

The Wildcats played perhaps their best half of football last night vs TC, scoring on 5 of their first 7 drives, putting 35 pts on the board and the game clock in over-drive.  As a reward...they get another 4 hour drive next week to play Scecina in what the IHSAA terms a "Neutral Game" 😅   But hey, at least we are playing...

I watched some of this game late last night and was impressed by the Scecina  D line & LBs who are fast and put lots of pressure on the QB.  Scecina came out to start the 2nd half and put the saddle on LCC and rode them hard the rest of the way to a dominating victory.

Seems likely to be a Saturday, mid-afternoon game but not certain at this point.  Curious where will this "Neutral" game be played?   I have it on good authority there are 2 available, turf stadiums in Terre Haute at ISU & Rose-Hulman.  Both would be a 2 hr drive for MD and maybe 90 mins for Scecina...sounds pretty "neutral" to me...

Looks like it is at U of I 730pm. Thats what time it was for Linton couple years ago. Great facilities! And let me tell you the Scecina crowd throws a tailgate party! Treated me like a king even wearing a Miner Hoodie. Great concessions too. I was sorta hoping I was gonna fly in for a Miner game, but to the Victor goes the Spoils. I checked in a LaQuinta very close and decent enough for a football game with kids and the Hotel bus dropped me off. Great experience and Go Wildcats!

This game has the sad distinction of being the ONLY 2A Regional not streamed...

Thanks to whomever found "the rule" mentioned by Coach Galayn in his post, that prohibited the EH Sports Network, who was willing to stream this game, from doing so because it did not involve their specific school team.  Here is a clue...many people have an interest in OTHER TEAMS FROM THEIR AREA and enjoy watching the games.  Especially during the playoffs and more interest eventually translates into more revenue.  As such, any outside interest to stream these games  would seem to be viewed as a good thing by the powers that be but apparently, is not.  Go figure.

Best of luck to both teams and safe travels all who could manage to drive up for the game tonight.  Go 'Cats!

MD by 13 is my prediction.

Thats what Im talking about in unconstitutional! The ONLY game not broadcast is one that had a contractional issue is this one. Well now IHSAA should let anyone broadcast it since they broadcast all others. I know Im just a Old Miner fan and haven't lived in IN since 1978. I live comfortably in Grays Creek NC now. My home in my mind is Linton. Wildcats beat us so I am obliged to support them till the end. Funny MDAlum said to the victor go the spoils. And so true. This deal here    I got buddies coming over to the house as were gonna have ribs, wings, adult beverages and watch the game.  Yes me the Yankee them a bunch of Tar Heels who support HS football! Thats OK. We can turn it into a ZZ Top evening fairly quick. As I said you taxpaying folks in IN need to be raising cane!

Question Coach:  curious...if you were willing to stream the game and the IHSAA was willing to broadcast it, what is the "issue"?  Who is stepping in and enforcing this rule - the IHSAA?  Are they somehow losing a bunch of revenue on a high school football game?  Are you aware of anyone else who might stream it?

IMHO its all about IHSAA revenue. Somebody really needs to look hard at the IHSAA as they seem to like the role of Judge, Jury and Executioner. Something fundamentally unconstitutional is going on here.

Good win last night by the Wildcats. We came out hot and really dominated all areas of the game. It was good to see a complete effort from MD. Things seem to be rolling the right direction. We will face another tough task in traveling to Triton Central for regional.

I think they will win the South. And win it all! Sectional 40 is BRUTAL. Go WILDCATS!

I sure hope it was for academic rigor. Being a parent myself, I can’t imagine how that conversation goes if it was for athletic purposes.

It still seems a really strange situation to me. Wonder how their morning breakfast was today??

Best of luck to both teams tonight.

Ive actually set at one. One kid going to a Catholic school and the other private lets say. I found that quite refreshing. Funny though the conversation evolved about both schools and all kids. I gotta go with the Victor Wildcats as a Miner Homer. But North Posey really has to be watched. I wasn't so much worried about MD this year because that's a known   Close game   Big Game.   I was concerned about this team from NP.

Jets - I am not the subject matter expert but, in my experience, this is not a common situation.  However, I don't know for certain if the two in question are truly brothers or possibly just cousins. While it is not a common last name, given the teachings of the catholic faith, family trees tend to have many branches, especially on the West Side.  Family "shrub" would be more apropos for some ; - )  I would defer to Cappy, or another NP follower to confirm the family ties/not.

One reason I would cite as to why this is uncommon is the tuition discount for families with more than one child in school at the same time. It used to be nearly 50% for 2nd child but may have changed.  Not to say half the MD tuition isn't still a hefty amount though @ ~ $3,700. If they are indeed brothers, there must be a good reason in the parents eyes why they sent them to different schools.

I agree its not very common regarding sports. But academics its fairly common. Some kids may thrive better in different AP schools. I just give kudos to the parents to be able to do that. And probably a very well educated decision. Just a thought.

Personally - I hate to see marquee games such as this one POSSIBLY be affected by poor conditions. The Roy is a great facility/place to play such a game - however the field is subpar at best - and will only get worse with the wet/muddy conditions.

That said, both teams will have to deal with the conditions as they are.

I'll ask again - if not this year for the Miners, then when??

I'll stop short of making a prediction as I don't know much about MD with our move up to 3A - but I know the Miners will be a tough out.

Roy Willams Field is Sub Par at best? WOW! Where did that come from?

Looks like steady rain most of the day tomorrow & Friday so field conditions will likely be less than ideal at the start of the game and deteriorate from there.  Could be a mud bowl game before night’s end.  No idea how well LS field drains or what condition grass is at this pt in season but likely not at its best after 10 wks of practice & games

My admittedly biased prediction is MD finds a way to slow down LS offense just enough and pulls away in 2nd half for a 21- 14 victory.  This is not intended to disrespect LS in any way…  I am an admitted homer for MD and thus my prediction is slanted towards the desired outcome.  This game could certainly go Linton’s way for all the same reasons.

Now, I am going to step off this crazy train until after the game.  I need to get back to the boardroom, we are discussing next year’s sponsorships.  We only have $500k in the budget so we have to very discerning in who we select.

If this doesn’t work, we may have to go with our back up plan.  MD scientists are presently hard at work on a time portal we can use to send influential Mater Dei Alums back to when the top local football talent is born and influence them to come to MD.

    Bwaaa-haa-haa-haaaaa!  Bwaaa-haa-haa-haaaaa!  Bwaaa-haa-haa-haaaaa!  (maniacal laugh track)

If you only knew. Back to your posts. Gonna be raining I think Friday. If you want a grab and go    Jiffy Treat is the way to go. Kids will love it. Set down.....I already called Jo Ettas Pizza Villa ( I go there every time when going to Linton) not very busy at all before game time. They really have better than good food and very reasonably priced. You can ask for out of the way tables as well if you want more privacy. Good Luck

Great, now we go from "recruiting" via Open Houses that every school - including North Posey - conducts to mysterious "sponsorships" to attend Feeder schools.  "They could get sponsored potentially" - How exactly does one get one of these "sponsorships", Cappy?  I would love to know so I can save the tuition!

MD come on now. It's easy. Take a kid (boy or girl) any sport. The community stands behind the athlete. Parents say we just can't afford to pay the tuition. But we know the athlete has a better chance at achieving their goals here. I would walk into a Boardroom and propose we fund the tuition. Agreed    might be 32k over 4 years or whatever. We hope to make relations in that community but zero strings are attached. And nobody recruited anybody. Happens every day.

Putting together a plan for Friday night & looking @ food options.  Does Linton-Stockton have good concessions available or can someone recommend a decent place to grab a bite before the game?   Something local would be great but any place with decent food - and a tolerance for the rowdy group of 13 year old boys accompanying me - would be just fine.

    Thanks in advance.

    How many kids?
