My intent was to do something beneficial for the GID since it needs the funds and we both obviously use it.  Tell you what,  let's go with $25.  If MD wins, $ goes to GID.  If Miners take it, you can PM me with where name & address of org. where you want the check to go.  Miner Pride can verify receipt.

    Were on!

Globemster3 - I think we are both "Boosters" already but since we cannot meet over a sausage biscuit- "To the victor go the spoils!?", how about in the spirit of doing something good for someone else. we make our bet a donation to the GID?

I will give you LS straight up, no pts, I will take MD.  You set the amount.  It's a win/win - at least for the GID!

SR1 - any issues with this?  If the loser doesn't pay up, you can lock us out of the GID for the rest of the year!  😎

MD I like the idea. But how bout instead of the GID we send to the winning teams Booster Club/Sports Club or something like that? PM me on the details...Im game.

Why is it a shame?  The teams n drives r familiar to Lcc... its a pretty logical fit... n convient to the Indy area... seems fine... mayb better than the reg season...

My point was only I thought It was team representing the North and this team the South at the Can. In all honesty how could I the (South) accept LCC representing the South? Rally Round Boys   a Lafayette school is gonna represent us? I think NOT. Is that clear enough?

Why is it that a person feels the need to stop supporting a high school program because their kids don't go there anymore? Doesn't it make more sense to support the kids in your own community than a university or professional team that you have absolutely no ties with? Some things in life just don't make any sense to me..........that's one of them.

You know   Thought about this. Maybe your definition is different than  his. Apparently you have a strong opinion and Kudos for that! All the OP wanted was to canx a account. Does he need a reason? Hell NO! And how to do know he doesnt support the entire city monetarily and anonymously? Come On Man

Not certain how CalPreps does their predictions but last I checked, LS was @ +3 with a 31-28 final score, which sounds far more reasonable than what Sagarin shows.  Not much of a sausage biscuit guy but I've had worse, so you're on!  I should be in the stands for this one.  I'll look for you running down the field with the flag...

Linton plays in grass, correct?  Let's hope for no rain & good weather conditions so both teams can play their best.  If MD's defense gives up 31, LS will certainly deserve the "W".  I will go with MD 24-14 but I am an unabashed "homer" and an eternal optimist - just like Miner Pride!   Peace. 🏈

Fair enough my friend. Im in Grays Creek NC so I won't be there. Actually I plan on attending the Semi State hopefully Linton-Scecina. I can watch the Can stuff online. Best of Luck!

The SIAC plays only in-conference so no way for Sagarin to accurately compare any SIAC team with a non-SIAC team.  Once the SIAC teams begin to play outside the conference, then Sagarin ratings will change.  No way to know exactly how that will affect Sagarin's view of the Miners vs Wildcats but with several SIAC teams showing up in the top 10 of 5A, 4A, & 2A, it seems likely all SIAC teams will see a jump in their ratings once this occurs.

Tp put it another way, the current Sagarin #s put LS as a 21 pt favorite over MD; 23 if you add 2 pts for home field.  How much would you be willing to bet on that line 'cause I  would gladly cover that for you...all day long.  LOL.

Oh! I see where your coming from there. Looking at that it's crazy. No way! But I will take ya up Miners by 3 on Calpreps. Cup of coffee and a sausage biscuit would be fine.

It's (past) that time again. A new year is upon us. There are teams to support and bills to pay.

There is a now a new Booster group available. The old group is now once again exposed to the ads on the site.

To be placed in the Booster 2021-22 group and have the ads hidden from view until July 1, 2022 make a donation of $30 or more anytime this fiscal year.

Thank you for all your past and your continued support of the Gridiron Digest.

I wanna help is all. No stones thrown here. Just help maybe. Its apparent you have a domain name. Dont know how many members we have but lets say for chuckles 1500. I think the site uses an onsite Server as Ive seen a request for RAM and such? Have you ever considered transferring it to a Web Site hosting company (other than Go Daddy) as it would eliminate most homegrown costs? Really curious how it costs 3000+ for a basic forum? No harm no foul. Just a question.

MD wins this sectional pretty comfortably.  I think Linton may hang around for most of the 1st half, but MD wears them down in the 2nd half to win comfortably by 2 scores.  I think North Posey comes out of the top half to face MD at the bowl for the title.  MD heads to the regional.

You might be right. But in my memory I dont ever recall Linton being worn down in the 2nd half in 45 years. Its generally the opposite if Linton hangs around. Just a thought

My understanding is that most schools fund their turf privately but I admittedly don't know the details on many of them.  Penn has had turf for a long time now but I recall them soliciting private donations for it.  Still surprising to me that Luers can't find a way to fund it.  Off the top of my head, I know they have professional football and baseball players that have made pretty good money and I'm sure there are some other wealthy families in the fold.

Maybe its like Linton. They dont want to do it?

North, South, or Wayne don't have the winning tradition Luers  has.  As stated before most schools with winning tradition have good facilities, but not Luers.

Throw that winning tradition out the window. Us Miners sorta think we have a winning tradition as well and play on grass. I dont recall Linton ever changing locations for a game but I think maybe 1. Kudos to Luers for being able to do that. Although its a drag for the fans and players IMHO it shows sportsman ship. Their field is trashed I guess and had the guts to call Kings X here. You gotta love it!

Sagarin isn't very effective tool to use when a team plays a conference only schedule. Once the post season starts after a few weeks MD's sagarin rating would change quite a bit depending on outcomes of other teams within the SIAC.

My point exactly. If it doesnt fit.

  12. South Putnam is a very good 1A team and they certainly have nothing to lose winning this game. Other than getting someone hurt and hampering their post season play. SP is good enough to make a 1A run. Linton on the other hand has the ultimate trap game. Do we win at all cost on Sr. night and lose a key player or two for an undefeated season? Miners right now are picked highly to make a LONG playoff run if healthy. I think both teams would love to win but not at all costs as both have great potentials post season. I'll go with Calpreps on this 34-12 Linton. I just hope both teams no injuries whatever happens. Both communities have a lot of football left. Best of Luck to both.

I'm just coming at it from the perspective of how can we tweak the all in system we have with little difficulty.  It wouldn't be difficult to put the top two teams on opposite sides of the bracket, and perhaps even going the extra step of having 1 play 3, 2 play 4, 5 play 6, etc. so we have fewer blowouts.  I'm not looking to solve sectional geography here.  Let's tackle that one as phase 3 or 4.  Baby steps.

Thats one heck of a start there.

I don't disagree with the concept of seeding, but the AP poll is always somewhat questionable and Sagarin / SOS is really no longer as reliable as it once was bc 2 of the top conferences in the state (SAC and SIAC) are closed, which screws the numbers up significantly. Here are the Sagarin numbers for Sectional 24...

Linton beat Boonville by 21. You think Boonville is 5 TDs better than Jasper or  Memorial? I'd pick Reitz, Central and Harrison to beat Boonville this year.

And actually, Sectional 40 is even better because Mater Dei is the only SIAC school...

With wins to close out the year over Harrison and Reitz, MD will very likely drop to #8 in Sectional 40.  If given the choice to play MD as the #8 seed or take its chances with ping pong balls, wouldn't #1 seed Linton gladly take the ping pong balls?

Thats not the point at all. IF MD is in fact the last seed then so be it. Nobody believes that in fact its a 60/40 MD edge IMO. Im sorry the numbers don't work for the Evansville teams. As I said before drawing out of a hat is caveman. SEED EM! Let IHSAA tell us why MD is an 8 with a straight face.
