I don't know about long-term and they've only played since 2006, but LCC has and will have a natural rivalry with Guerin since they are the only two Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana.  LCC is the smaller, older brother and Guerin is the bigger, younger brother ... and you know how siblings can be.

Interesting!  I thought there would be more.

Then again, I seriously doubt St. Joseph's in Kentland will re-open their doors as they couldn't even make an elementary school go in the 1980s and 90s.

Then why rank teams for 8 straight weeks if none of it is going to be considered? The committee knew 3 weeks ago Jordan Travis was out for the year yet still moved Florida State UP in the last regular season poll after Ohio State's loss from 5 to 4. How does #7 Texas jump #4 Florida State after Florida State beat a team ranked higher than the opponent Florida State just beat by the committee's OWN rankings? Make it make sense!

If the CFP is all about eyeballs and ratings, just come out before the season starts and say these are the 4 teams that will be playing in the postseason because these are the 4 teams that we believe will draw the best ratings. Save everyone else the time and trouble.

    Like I'm on the committee...

  3. Although I don't have a dog in this fight, the cash cows (of the B1G and SEC) must be appeased.   To that end, who is going to tune in and watch Florida State's backup QB?   Sadly, TV rating must now be considered as well...

Cp was listed one time as pretenders?

proved a lot of people wrong!

Just so happy a team from the 219 made it to the finals!

sorry to say I believe BD is more talented and speed that will be to much!

But the experience for every little bulldog in the stands will build dreams of playing for a state title ! Can’t wait to see what comes in the future for this 219 school.  Love the region!

Should be quite the game.  Don't sleep on the Dogs as Westfield was "supposed to" beat them.

If you like Mexican, try Ricochet Tacos on the SW corner of the Square.

Ricochet is very good.  I also like Tavern on Main, just down the street.  Additionally, Ramen District and Sakura have great sushi and Asian food, and Prime and Provecho are other good options.  You really can't miss anywhere on the square in CP.  Station 21 (a bit north) and Lucrezia (a little south) are other options.

I put this on here, so Harrison will win state this year.  🙂  If Harrison wins, that is a win for the north, even if the IHSAA has them in the South.  I think there are some people on here that would like to see anyone north of Lafayette win state.

I would.  With that, my submission would have to be the Crown Point Bulldogs.  Always decent before Buzea, and now they're an unstoppable force (at least playing NWI teams).  Honorable mention would be to Hanover Central.  They didn't have football not so long ago, but now they ran the table in a conference of much larger schools (except Andrean).  I have to wonder what is i the water every time  I drive the Cedar Lake.

What has happened to the 5 star "chosen one".   Did I read that he got benched at Bama?

    Who ranks the rankers??

Milroe is starting for some reason, I guess Darth Saban likes him

I'm really intrigued by these two Pioneer / North Judson matchups.  I don't think there's any reason for either team to hold anything back for next week.  They have played each other enough to know what the other team wants to do.

I am wondering if these two might look to move their regular season game to a week earlier in the season next year when the conference adds two new opponents.  It's certainly not ideal to play a team two weeks in a row.  And this would be a good time to switch things up.  Does anyone know if next year's schedules are firmed up yet?

North White has a very good team, I think they're undefeated.  It's good to see vintage MWC matchups, though.

Back when they formatted the 6A class, the DAC was littered with 6A schools. Penn for like the first 4 or 5 years was a near lock for Semi-State each year because sectionals 1 and 2 were weak compared to the rest of the class.

As I perused the bracket, I noticed that the winner of the Hobart-New Prairie game will face the winner of the Gary West-Kankakee Valley Kougars (with a K) game who happen to be coached by none other than, wait for it:

KIRK (I OWN NWI FOOTBALL) KENNEDY

No, that shouldn't change things all that much, just makes them more interesting.

Yep. But on the flip side the winner of New Prairie and Hobart gets 2 weeks to regroup and heal. I think it's safe to say both squads could get away with not using all starters for 4 quarters throughout the remainder of Sectionals if they play their cards right.

Basically as both Hobart and NP obliterated Lowell this season.

Could you do a hybrid seeding process, yes it will take more effort on the IHSAA's part but I think it will appease the fan bases.

Seed the sectional, then based on sectional winners re-seed the regional matchups.

Once you are in Semi-state it does not matter. At that point you either go with better record gets home field or you could go by Sagarin ratings.

But Brownsburg v Ben Davis game 1 of the playoffs.. Come on....those two programs played amazing ball all year, to be ousted game 1....with the likes of 0-9 programs....that shouldn't be happening.

I personally would prefer a fully seeded playoffs, idc how you seed it, but this nonsense of who gets homefield based on who played away or didnt....better seeded teams should be playing at home.  That is the benefit of playing a tough schedule and winning.

I agree, shouldn't be happening. but in the IHSAA's tried and true format, it's a cross we must bear.  But in a weird way, Lowell can almost breeze their way to their Sectional final.
