  1. Brownsburg with a 20 yd. TD pass on 4th down. Fade in the corner, juggled by receiver, but he got control in time to get a foot down. Heck of a play. Kick try no good. Brownsburg 16-10 9:34 of the 4th.
  2. Brownsburg ties it up with a 25 yd. field goal after driving about 50 yds. A brand new ballgame at 9:05 of the 3rd.
  3. That’s always a dicey situation. It’s not the number of shifts, but rather the manner in which it is done. The rule says it’s a false start to perform any act clearly designed to cause the defense to encroach. I didn’t feel like the Brownsburg shift was abrupt enough to actually look like the start of a play. But in candor, if Westfield had jumped in reaction to the shift, I would have gotten the crew together and had a conversation about it.
  4. 71 yd. screen gets the Bulldogs back in the game. 10-7 Westfield 4:17 in the half.
  5. Rocks with a 45 yd. field goal that just slithers over the crossbar. Time of possession is lopsided in favor of Westfield. 10-0 Rocks. 6:00 remaining in the half. My accounts make better reading anyway. 😉😂
  6. Westfield strikes first with an 18 play, 79 yd. drive eating 6:31 on the clock. Rocks lead 7-0 at 0:30 of the 1st. Quite a wacky play on the TD, with a muffed backward pass recovered by the offense and advanced just across the goal line when the runner was stripped and the ball rolled out of the back of the end zone.
  7. In my view, speaking as one who worked the referee position for over 30 years, it was grossly negligent that one of the other crew members didn’t retrieve that flag for him while he was signaling and enforcing the penalty. I’m not kidding here. If that had been my crew, someone would have been reamed.
  8. New Pal makes them pay for that turnover. 28-7 Dragons 2:43 remaining in the half.
  9. And the Knights promptly cough it up. New Pal back in business deep in EN territory.
  10. East Noble has no answer for the Dragons’ running game. Now 21-7 after a drive that ate up much of the 2nd period.
  11. I agree with you. New Pal gets the ball back and scores on a 50 yd. catch and run. New Pal 14 East Noble 7 2:55 of the 1st.
  12. New Pal responds with a long TD drive. 14 plays, 80 yds., 5:40 off the clock. 7-7 4:35 of the 1st.
  13. New Pal goes 3 & out. On 1st down East Noble hits the bomb for an 80 yd. TD. 7-0 East Noble 10:15 of the 1st. Roughing the passer on the TD will be enforced on the succeeding kickoff.
  14. Vrabel
  15. And in great Bears’ tradition, they allowed him to have his usual day after the game morning press conference … then fired him. I believe the Bears’ organization has reached what I like to call the “Costanza Point.” It’s the place where every decision you make turns out to be wrong. So, your only chance of success is to do the exact opposite of what you would normally do in that situation. George Costanza explains and demonstrates:
  16. So now we move on to the second game of the day. It’s a tale straight out of medieval times: Knights trying to slay Dragons. Stay tuned for East Noble vs. New Palestine.
  17. As long as the UNS foul occurred before the ball was marked ready for the next play, the line to gain is not established until all enforcements are completed (on downs 1-3).
  18. Final Adams Central 46 - Linton-Stockton 6
  19. We have some pretty good monitors up here. Not for ruling on that play.
  20. The guy with the best view in the house disagreed. Jets punch in another to make it 46-6. Remember, no Mercy Rule timing in the State Finals. Why you ask? It screws up the schedule for commercials on the broadcasts.
  21. That was not a touchback, as the kick was possessed in the field of play, and the runner’s own momentum carried the ball into the end zone. If you watched carefully, you’d have seen the referee drop a beanbag at the 1 yd. line to mark a possible “momentum” spot, indicating that is where the kick was possessed.
  22. AC with their 4th interception, again in Linton territory. 1st play down to the 1 yd. line. TD. AC 39 Linton 6 0:55 of the 3rd.
  23. Linton throws their 3rd pick of the game … all in their own territory. AC makes them pay immediately. AC 32 Linton 6 2:09 of the 3rd period.
  24. Miners open the 2nd half with a score to make it 19-6. But Adams Central answers immediately with a long drive. 25-6 AC 3:19 3rd period.
