  1. This is good stuff. Hope it becomes an annual thing.
  2. Pike Central at Princeton - Easily the closest game of the first round. I'll take the Pikers with the upset on the road. VL at OV - Alices should take care of business regardless of who is playing QB. MV at GS - Titans won with a running clock just 2 weeks ago at MV..expect a similar result on their home turf. WV at Washington - Hatchets by at least a couple scores
  3. Not heard anything official…but he did dress for Jasper so I suspect very close to a return. I’m curious how they will use him Friday if at all…but more than anything I hope he gets enough on field time to work out any rust.
  4. Massey spreads: Pike Central at Princeton (-14) VL (-34) at Owen Valley MV at GS (-35) West Vigo at Washington (-14)
  5. Did this thread really fall to page 3? Where are my GS friends?
  6. EDIT: OV defeated Lincoln in 2021, VL lost to GS 2022.... All the same..Alices not overlooking their first round opponent
  7. A few thoughts for the league... -Wagner gets my vote for POY. Simply put, he did more with less. I know Bosse only finished 3-6, but QB #1 for Lincoln got the nod in 2022 on a squad that was only 4-5...(and I believe that young man is about to prove his worth all over again as we move through the sectional). -No nonsense this time around for Reitz/Boonville Part 2. Panthers will boat race the Pioneers on Friday. Past that...BNL/Jasper/Memorial will certainly have something to say, but ultimately it seems Reitz v EC is inevitable. -MD will still find their way out of Sectional 40. I saw the better version of this group back in Week 3 (hard to believe that was 6 weeks ago), and they made another statement on Friday. NP will be a tough challenge, but I like the Wildcats at The Bowl. -I really want to pick North to come out of 16 despite a tough road match-up at Floyd..because they can be that good. But I trust Castle more, and the Knights got the favorable draw with the championship game in Paradise. -VL knows their path..and it starts with a revenge tour at Owen Valley (who defeated VL and GS a year ago)
  8. Wow. Week 9 proved to be much more competitive than anticipated.
  9. In case anyone forgot what the best rivalry in the conference is… And who says Hunt isn’t playing??
  10. No matter. If the Alices are going to break through, it may as well be in the same place their season ended a year ago.
  11. What a win for VL tonight. This thing could have snowballed on them after what was easily their worst showing of the season last week at North. But they showed great toughness and fortitude to get things back on track. Credit the defense on the shutout. I don’t think Memorial made it into the Lincoln red zone once tonight. Offensively it wasn’t a thing of beauty, but still solid. No critical mistakes and able to move the chains. Won field position most of the night. Also… -Congratulations to the Panthers on another SIAC title -North has us scratching our heads again. Not necessarily saying Jasper didn’t have a decent shot to win, but weren’t the Huskies up 21-7 at one point?? And with how they looked against Lincoln a week ago, I really thought they would finish 7-2. Curious to hear how this game played out.
  12. North just dominates Lincoln tonight…no other way to say it. I really expected a better game given how close these two have played one another the last 3 seasons…not that I expected a win necessarily. But even without Hunt, this was a bit of a head scratcher for me. Oh and North’s defensive front is the best in the conference hands down not even close…but we already knew that.
  13. Nothing apparent during the game. He played every snap without any obvious injury. They did say on the news that it was likely a meniscus, which would make sense given the short time frame for recovery.
  14. Had a minor surgery this week. Should be ok for post season.
  15. VL 47 Harrison 0 final Hats off to Lincoln for taking care of business despite the injury to Hunt. Mentally tough group of kids.
  16. Lincoln 41 Harrison 0 mid 3rd Upsets brewing early but it looks like Reitz and Memorial will hang on
  17. Truth. But 1979 was the end of Castle/VL when the Big 8 was formed in 1980. They never faced one another again until 2020.
  18. Bob Clayton..truly one of the remarkable coaches in the history of Indiana High School football. Playing in that era...there was an aura around HH football that felt untouchable. Those late 90's early 2000 teams were the best of the best. To be able to defeat the Patriots in 2005 at the Jungle was one of the hallmarks of my playing career...and that HH team still went on to semi state in an OT loss to Chatard.
  19. Surely the famed GS Football doesn't need media validation at this point...I can smell the positive vibes 30 miles up 41. There's plenty to go around.
  20. I generally like to pick the spreads...but JH, Calpreps, Massey have been all over the place this season. Memorial over Harrison running clock Jasper over MD by a score Reitz over Central running clock North over Bosse 2 scores ALICES over the Knights in the friendly confines of Inman Field...take it to the bank
