I’m still fearing the worst the last two weeks in October against Memorial then Jasper. Lots of time to figure things out. VL has to be sharp every week…starting with a hazard road game at Central.

I could ramble about VL/MD to fill a whole page on the thread....gonna try to keep it short. Another fantastic, high quality high school football game played on both sidelines. Great players. Great coaching. Great heart. Neither team deserved to lose just like a week ago with VL/Reitz. The final 18 minutes of game time were just incredible. MD is everything they are hyped to be in 2022 make no mistake. Wunderlich was a one man wrecking crew, whether through the air or on the ground. He's got a really good cast around him as well in the backfield and out wide. There's absolute zero reason to doubt MD chances of reaching LOS (although the Miners could have something to say). For Lincoln, you have to start with Xander Hunt...the kid is just special. I don't how else to put it. We saw glimpses of it a year ago before injury and now he's putting on a full display. But tonight it took a total team effort to beat an opponent this good...there were dudes making plays everywhere tonight. Johnson, McCrary, Gillis, Foster, Keller, Hambrick, Steffey..and of course the big guys on the front line. Gotta keep this thing going...get back to work. Enjoy tonight though. GO BIG GREEN

All of the skill position players look to be good size for the Miners...Gennicks in particular especially for a QB. The kid is a load to get to the ground.

Top 4 are spot on...5-8 are arguable. 9 and 10 are correct

I mean at this very moment in the season I think you're close. Don't know if I'd have VL jump clear to 4..more like 5-6. Memorial is 0-2 so probably 8 is where I'd stick them. And you can't really put Jasper ahead of Harrison either at this point in time...so seems like a fair ranking.

If he's not the best I'd hate to defend someone who is superior. The kid has it all..size, speed, hands, route running.

Heartbreaking loss for VL to say the least...for a regular season game this one sure hurts. This program has fought hard to earn that first major conference win and it looked as if they finally had one in the bag. Crazy ending.. 3rd and long for Reitz from their own 40 (roughly), no timeouts left, and Davies hits Summers on a dime just over the corner and closing safety down to the Lincoln 2 out of bounds...just a heck of a throw to beat what was pretty good coverage... 1st and goal...Reitz is stuffed twice on consecutive dives..cannot stop the clock...time for one last play. They run up the gut a third time and appear to be stopped but the RB made a great second effort to just break the plane...4 seconds left. Just one heck of a game in front of a great crowd for both sides. Both offenses were really efficient. Both defenses forced 2 turnovers and made big stops. I thought VL played well in all facets of the game. The ground game is going to be a force all year with Hunt, Johnson, and the youngster McCrary behind what is starting to look like the best Lincoln O-line I've seen in quite some time. But Reitz had the two mammoth plays that were the difference, the first being the reverse flea flicker to Summers that put them up 7 right out of the gate.

I think we need to see a few more games…happy to see a little optimism thrown our way but we’ve got the conference dark horse and favorite coming to town the next two weeks. Should learn a lot about this team.

Man I dunno...on the surface this may look petty. But there was some real deep rooted hatred before the turn of the century...the early 80s in particular. Love that the headstone was brought into the conversation LOL

Did Memorial show a strength offensively tonight? The passing game didn't sound great but were guys getting open? And was Jasper just running the same speed option we've seen? Or was there a wrinkle to it?

I missed this post initially...didn't realize that Walt had retired until the weeks leading up this season. Definitely a huge part of what has made this rivalry great through the years. Not many Vincennes people could stand the man (laughing as I type this), but I suppose the great ones make enemies along the way. Wish him the best in retirement. And I can totally relate to losing a long time voice on the radio. Dave Young called Lincoln sports for 30+ years, and sadly passed away last year. Walt actually sent over a recording giving his best to Dave as part of a collaborative video sent to him in his final days.
