  1. Impressed with what Bosse was able to do tonight. You could really see the potential in their offense Week 1. I didn't expect quite what we've seen the last 2 weeks, but not totally shocked either. Going to be interesting to see how they continue to improve over the next 6 weeks. Lincoln/MD... I'll admit this one was a little closer than what the Alices probably envisioned. Lincoln got out to a 14-0 lead by the end of 1 and looked like they might comfortably pull away with no sign of resistance from MD. But from the 2nd q on, it was a totally different ball game. Not sure who started at QB for the Wildcats against Castle, but Tate Mallory was exceptional tonight. There were numerous plays where Lincoln was in a good defense/coverage and he simply made a great throw or got to the edge when protection broke down. Had me shaking my head thinking he's only a sophomore. But in the end, VL seemed to make all the plays when they needed them to keep MD at arms length. No doubt there are things that need improved upon, but they were able to win an ugly game on the road against a quality program.
  2. Thank you for the work put in...now if those Dubios County turds would share their intel like the rest of us! LOL
  3. The Reitz D just looked that good plain and simple. We knew Lincoln was going to be challenged early on with all new faces at WR...they needed to be pretty dominant on the ground to loosen the Panther D up and there just weren't enough of those big chunk plays like we've seen with Hunt. I think the Lincoln passing game can still be good as it was against Bosse, but they have to be more effective on the ground when playing upper tier competition. And the stats for the defense are totally meaningless...Reitz will make a fool of many this season. I posed the question last Friday...who do you defend?? Same players, same two offenses with Davies and Vera...less sloppiness, less mistakes than what I saw from a year ago.
  4. Gotta match that urgency if you're Lincoln, and I think they will. Much disappointment from last week's result. MD will be ready
  5. They jumped out 14-0 by the end of 1. Looked like it could get away from Lincoln but their defense stiffened the final 3q…just couldn’t get Reitz off the field on several drives. Hoping for a better outcome on the return trip to The Bowl next Friday.
  6. You really just don’t know what North team is gonna show. Nice convincing win for Memorial.
  7. Reitz defense much improved. Held Hunt in check for most of the night. Davies pin point accurate. Vera and Summers made their presence felt as well..just too many guys to defend. Not to mention a boom stick at kicker. Lincoln squandered an early opportunity to set the tone when they drove fairly easily into Reitz territory on the first possession. It ended with a holding penalty followed with back-to-back bad snaps. And from there they had to play catch-up all night.
  8. VL/Reitz broadcast not on the air waves as of yet…assuming there are further delays??
  9. Memorial v Jasper is the most meaningless game to me in Week 1. It rarely projects how both teams will fare through the course of a season. Both will be totally different teams by the time Lincoln sees them come Week 8/9. And this is an obstacle the Alices must conquer in 2023.
  10. Hunt was actually more impressive with his arm tonight. 12/17 for 157 and 3 TDs with one score on the ground…in just one half of play. There were questions about the receiver position all offseason for Lincoln, but you wouldn’t have known at least for one night. Bosse QB Elijah Wagner gave the defense fits at times. He was most dangerous when a play broke down and was able to shift his way through to the second level. He’s without a doubt a top athlete in the conference.
  11. Final from Inman VL 49 Bosse 30 Game went to running clock when it was 49-8 early in 2nd half.
  12. Lincoln did not blow me away this evening...for what its worth in a scrimmage. Hunt looked incredible but the offense as a whole was a little underwhelming in the early going. The defense, however, was solid all the way through. Not much else to take away with so many basic plays and schemes.
  13. Vincennes Lincoln Football on 92.1 WZDM All home games streamed: https://team1sports.com/theoriginalcompany/
  14. 1 is a popular pick as most would expect. 8-10 is pretty predictable. 2-7 a total crap shoot. Memorial, Castle, Jasper you can't rule out 6 or 7 wins on any given year...MD a little too high in their standings. VL should break the 5 win mark with what they return..IMO
  15. Been a member here for several years....did not know this. What a loss for the Indiana football community. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Fair assessment...Lincoln has to take last year's lessons and find a way to put consistent quarters together, especially on the road. I never felt the 2022 team was outmatched at any point through the conference season, but they made too many critical mistakes that you simply can't overcome in this league. And while they showed much resiliency in the early part of the schedule, that seemed to fade down the stretch.
  17. Answering questions regarding the VL roster from the other thread.... Lincoln actually graduated 2 seniors from their secondary...and pass defense was without a doubt the weakness of the '22 squad, especially late in the season. That's something they are going to have to shore up if they hope to reach the upper tier of the conference. They do return the entire front seven including guys like Keller, Hambrick, and Patton. Offensively they return 6, and you could even say 7 depending on the formation. The O-line graduated a couple good seniors but returns Daniel Nash who was arguably the best of the group. McCrary returns at RB (Jackson Johnson was the listed starter in '22 but split carries). Receiver is where Lincoln will have to develop some younger guys at all 3 spots.
  18. I get tired, as much as the next person, of reading about this year after year....but it's something the IHSAA should feel obligated to look into with the annual controversy surrounding the format. -I don't want to ever see a qualification system, keep it all inclusive...there will always be an opportunity for a Monrovia type team to make a run and that should never be fully eliminated. It's a great thing for all sports to have an underdog story. -But SEED THE SECTIONALS...this is the easiest middle ground solution! Sectional 30, for example, literally had the top 4 out of 8 in the top half of the bracket..This cannot be allowed to happen! -Someone brought up having regional and semi state games at neutral sites...I can definitely see the upside of this. There are a plentiful amount of football facilities (college and high school) that have popped up in the last 20 years, that you didn't have at the turn of the century. If I'm the IHSAA, I look at this as a way to highlight growth of the sport in our state. Why not play your biggest games of the year at the premier stadiums?? But at the same time..there's something special about a high school program getting to host a late tournament game...such a big event for the community.
  19. Just glad this is a semi state match up...for once the sectional alignment/draw got this one right. Can't wait to see.
  20. What a shocker...Monrovia scores late with just under 2 min to go for the lead...which still left plenty of time for the high powered OV offense to respond. OV actually got a great return to the Bulldog 35 off the squib kick and looked primed to pull off one final TD...but turned it over on downs. Heartbreaking for OV with an opportunity for a regional title on their home turf.
  21. Rough..looks like EC will get their revenge from last year. Still…really remarkable that Memorial played for a regional title considering how their season started. Nice season for the Tigers.
  22. And having to play at Boonville…never an easy place to win a game. Memorial better bring their A game.
  23. Hmm. Seems Lincoln had the wrong officiating crews. We had phantom holding calls all season long.
  24. What a crazy night. I expected a battle between Memorial and Jasper the sequel, but Boonville leading Reitz?!? I thought the Pioneers could maybe keep it close for a half but didn’t see this coming. Panthers need to get it going.
