Defense defense. VL 0, OV 0. Half
-
All because I posted a few predictions….smh. I take it all back. Good luck SIAC teams!
-
Ok however you wanted it phrased..my point was NP is playing some good football right now. No disrespect meant toward our neighbors to the north. NK had a great season. And it goes without saying that VL got a favorable sectional draw. Didn’t need that pointed out but thanks!

MD 31, NP 21 I may be a little more bullish on the Vikings than most. I just think the gap between the NP and Linton is not that wide. They took a very good North Knox team to the wood shed last week. The MD defense should decide this one..but be wary. With that said, I will comfortably pick the Cats. Memorial 28, NV 20 Tough one here. I said 2 weeks ago that Memorial looked to be the better team over Jasper heading into postseason play (VL plays both teams back to back to end the regular season). As well as the Cats played all season, they looked to be even more dependent on their offensive system as compared to the 2020 team...not really any one player that stood out as a playmaker when things broke down. NV was able to expose this and Jasper simply didn't have the horses to overcome. Compound that with their propensity to allow the big play on defense, and it was a very favorable matchup for the Knights with the dynamic players they feature. Memorial, on the other hand, has some dudes at key positions who can get you a play when you need it on offense. The Tigers are better defensively IMO and can match up on the edge with NV. This will be a dog fight, but ultimately will end in a repeat of last season's sectional match up. However, I will tip my hat to the Knights if they can sweep the SIAC. VL vs OV All logic points to the Patriots, although my heart won't allow me a score prediction. I think this could realistically be within one score for or against Lincoln but could easily get out of hand. This is the same OV team the Alices nearly shut out (until the waning seconds) up in Spencer a year ago. Although this Lincoln team is much younger, the bulk of returning starters are on the defensive side. And that has been their strong suit, as most SIAC opponents would attest to. If Lincoln can somehow keep OV to around 20 pts it could get real interesting. The Alices have had a rough year offensively to say the least, but have found the gas pedal in the sectional. Maybe a little momentum can carry VL to an upset...

Heartbroken for the Miners on this night. I actually picked a very similar score to this..just in favor of Linton. Not that I couldn’t see MD winning…it just felt like the Miners were due. But congrats to the Cats. Gonna be a tough one with NP.
-
True. But I wouldn't have picked them to win the rematch with Memorial anyway, after seeing both teams in back to back weeks. Tigers the better team at this juncture. Good to see some rewarding wins for VL and Bosse tonight. Alices were dominant from about the 6 min mark in the 1st q through the 3rd when subs entered at 48-7.

Was not in attendance for this one but did catch the radio broadcast...it really just followed the script of the previous 3 games. Lincoln battled defensively to keep it tight, trailing 12-7 at the half. But that can only be sustained for so long when you can't flip the field on offense at the very least. Plus 4 turnovers never helps, and Harrison benefited from those in a major way with some coming deep in VL territory. Just a really frustrating night, as I'm sure Lincoln felt they could get some offensive momentum going.

As I’m sure many in the southwest Indiana sporting and media community were already aware, Dave Young, the longtime Voice of Vincennes Lincoln athletics, was diagnosed with cancer in mid 2020. Dave was on the air with 92.1 WZDM for over 4,000 (yes, 4,000) Lincoln sporting events including football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, and even a marching band competition or two. Today, Dave lost his battle. And a void has been ripped into the Vincennes community. Somewhat fittingly, on the eve of Lincoln’s homecoming, an event near and dear to the hearts of Vincennes faithful, Dave was called home. Thank you for the memories Dave RIP

No real surprises tonight IMO. Thought Memorial/MD would've been a little closer than it was but not a shocker. Castle and Jasper took care of business. Reitz/North and VL/Central were coin flips and played out as such. Shout out to the Alices for a big win at home. After last Friday, I felt a good vibe with this team that I predicted would carry over to tonight. Was nice to see some hard work pay off. Now hopefully this momentum can lead to some good things next week for homecoming with the Knights paying a visit.

Yes, speedy would be pretty accurate. Now that has been put to the test against higher competition no doubt. But they have guys who can set the edge. And their secondary is probably one of the most experienced units on the team. However, we've struggled with some young guys in the front 7 so far this year. But one thing you can count on with a Coach Salters' (he was a middle linebacker back in the day) squad is a hard nosed, hot pursuit defense, and the unit you will see improve the most year in and out. The problem the past two years has been the amount of time the defense is on the field and just wearing out.
-
I'll take the under LOL. And I'm not discounting Central's ability in anyway. But they are clearly going through rebuild similar to VL. Levi Salters and co will need to have their best game to date to pull of the W.
-
Can't speak for the coaching staff...just my opinion based on some things that happened last Friday. And the simple fact that Vincennes kids aren't going to quit. 0-3 in the SIAC is not a death sentence. They see this as a great opportunity to get in the win column and will want to seize it at home. And home field at Inman, I believe, takes on a new meaning as a member of this conference as compared to the Big 8. We fared pretty well at home in 2020, even in defeat.

Is the spread style offensive make teams soft
SEAL_63 replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
A simple answer is yes it has. But the game overall has drastically moved away from the uber physical days at every level just in the past 10-15 years. And I don't think that's a bad thing because it places a bigger emphasis on speed over size, which I think is great for high school football. But regardless of system..if you don't dedicate adequate time to developing your O-line it doesn't matter. Some teams try to cover up a bad OL with their skill players and it ultimately catches up to them. -

Without a doubt. It's just the mind set that kids grow up with. Not necessarily a bad thing but just the way it is. -
Gonna pick Big Green for their first W this week at Inman. Why not? VL 20 Central 14 Castle 35 Harrison 14 Memorial 24 MD 21 Jasper 42 Bosse 14 Reitz 35 North 21

Cappy I tried to tell you!!

The final score wasn't much of an indicator, but Lincoln left the Reitz Bowl with a much better feeling than they did a week ago. This was only a 7-0 game until the waning seconds of the 1st half when MD made it 14-0 at the break. If they are going muster a win or two in the conference, it's gonna have to be on the back of the defense. So many young guys and first time players offensively.
-
Needed to pick an upset. Pretty predictable week in the PAC outside of this matchup. Good luck to NP

Castle over Bosse 24-12 North over Harrison 31-14 Memorial over Central 21-14 Reitz over Jasper 21-17 MD over VL 31-7

The Reitz OL/DL was without a doubt the biggest difference in their win last Friday. And it's not even close. The Alices youth up front was exposed in a major way. People like to talk about Reitz' talented sophomore class, which has several contributing skill players, but their upperclassmen in the trenches are what made the difference and is why I feel the Panthers can compete throughout the conference season. Jasper will be a great test.
-
There aren't any regrets out of the Lincoln program for joining the conference...just to be clear. This time last season, we were talking about how Lincoln let one slip away against Reitz after dominating the first 3 quarters. And that following week we felt we could've toppled MD had a couple plays gone our way. While the 2020 team only ended up with 3 conference wins, it could've easily been 4 or 5. And that team, although experienced, was not overly talented. What you're seeing after two weeks from this year's team was considered a possibility with all the sophomores forced into action..especially up front. And it's gonna get worse before it gets better, but we're excited that these young guys are getting the exposure.

The Bulldogs looked much improved at Vincennes last week. Still would've never expected this. Great win. Well deserved.

Bosse over Central 36-34 That's a final. WOW
