Can't believe there's no chatter on this thread. BIG WIN. Congrats to the Miners.

Congrats to Bosse for a hard fought win on the road. This was a close game throughout. One thing I can say about the 2021 Bulldogs that I haven’t said in the past…this team had a “controlled” presence about them. Not many penalties or turnovers (not sure if they had any at all). Not a prolific offensive attack by any means but they let their big RBs wear you down. Defensively they had good team pursuit of the ball to stop any big plays. Coach Mullen has this team on a mission. For Lincoln, what can you say? Some missed opportunities on big plays (including a dropped deep ball that would’ve gone for 6). Not a whole lot of penalties but the few were ill timed. And fumbles….fuuumbles. The Alices’ youth showed, with many sophomores dipping their toes into varsity action for the first time. Not to help matters, starting RB Jackson Johnson, who VL expects to lean on heavily early on, tweaked a knee in pregame.

Agreed. Last I checked, the underdog still shows up to play. Hate to hear that the Hatchets' misfortune has carried over to 2021. Tough way to start the year. Not sure if they can find an opponent this late in the week.
-
Good luck to the Hatchets in 2021! I'm sure the kids are hungry after being robbed of a chance to compete for the sectional title. Maybe the VL/Wash rivalry can be renewed in the sectional this year!
-
Alright alright. Ready to get this started.. Bosse 13, VL 28 Central 21, MD 24 North 10, Castle 21 Reitz 35, Harrison 20 Jasper 14, Memorial 21
-
Bgtn North by 2 TD’s over North- Huskies have lost their way Castle by 10 over South Central walks to the final Memorial defeats Reitz again although closer this time VL/Sullivan a toss up MD has faced the best rushing attacks the SIAC has to offer and fared pretty well. North Knox cannot be taken lightly in this rematch of last years sectional title game. The Warriors are on a roll. Should be a great game. I’ll take Mater Dei by a score

Not surprised the Tigers pulled one out after seeing them last week. A little surprised Central shut down North completely. And of course, i didn’t expect a total VL collapse at Jasper tonight 48-0. This team is capable of a lot. Still think they’re a better offensive team than what they’ve shown. Jasper will give any 4a south team trouble. Best Cats team I’ve seen in a decade.
-
Hmmm...will have to decide this for myself. Never been to Roca Bar. Always hit up Turoni’s. VL makes back to back trips to the west side next year so I can sample each.
-
Give me: Castle over Memorial...something like 17-7 Harrison by 2 scores MD by 3 scores Central by 3 scores Lincoln upsets the Cats! 20-17
-
Nothing too surprising really. Congrats to Central. Now if you’re the Bears you have to avoid getting complacent now that the conference is wrapped up. A loss to a North team desperate for a win would be bad news heading into the sectional with Jasper and Memorial as real threats.
-
Yes. Another stout SIAC defense..As fundamentally sound as I’ve seen since Mater Dei. Memorial really exploited Lincoln’s pass protection issues. Alices had to play near mistake free offensively to score enough to win. 3 turnovers and some key early drops were drive killers. I would’ve liked to have seen us run the Power I more than we did, as that produced the lone score. Defensively for Lincoln, it was a respectable night..not great. Outside of the 1st quarter they really tightened things up (albeit with no Pence for Memorial after halftime). Probably the best receiving corps we will see all season. Dave Young and Pat Hutchison have been doing great work for many years! And gold luck to the Tigers. Won’t be shocked at all if they manage to repeat as sectional champ.
-
13-0 Memorial start of 3rd q Pence hurt just before halftime. Hasn’t come back to the game.
-
The roster is never complete on max preps if that’s what you’re referring to. The high school program has 73 kids, with roughly 20 of those comprising the freshmen team.
-
What a tough week of predictions...starting with the easy ones: MD over Harrison 4 scores Reitz over Bosse 3 scores Jasper over North 2 scores - could be closer if the Huskies can regain their offense VL edges Memorial - Alices have played really well at Inman Field Central over Castle 2 scores

Yes, Vickers throws a beautiful deep ball with nice touch when he’s given the time. He’s a big tall kid who sees the field well...not the most mobile so again, he needs time. As for the team..the win was nice but still a lot left to clean up. Too many penalties and a lack of consistent pass protection continue to be the major problems for VL. But the beautiful thing about the SIAC is that there are three quality games left that I feel Lincoln will be competitive in and they can continue to grow and improve upon. I look forward to Memorial’s return to Inman Field in a couple weeks.
