No Navy this year for the Irish, also the schedule is much easier now. Arguably the best schedule ND has had in over 50 years.

Even with Clemson on the schedule potentially twice?

Right wing propaganda. They can't help it... Its what they are brainwashed with.

I just ran a google search on the word "naive." A link to the Gridiron Digest popped up with the name TheStatGuy on it.

And it took exactly 5 posts this time for the 1st POLITICALIZATION of the thread.    Good job.   New Record set

The same poster delivers some sort of a backhanded political slap on every topic.

Do you know if the IHSAA has approved the transfer already or not?  If they have this will allow schools close to the state line to increase their enrollment and make more money.

All I know is what I read here and online. I'm assuming it was approved. Sorry, I know that doesn't help.

Then we're just going to continue this Covid charade until a vaccine is developed. If it was up to me, the federal government would mandatorily test the entire country. They should have done this months ago. Anyone testing positive is then quarantined. If they want to put up a fight, then can then be tried with a felony after their quarantine is finished. We need to get back to normal, but what we're doing isn't working.

I don't have a problem with that. They could have done that in the spring and left the economy open in the process. Shutting down the economy did more harm than good. And when I say "economy", that includes sporting events. This is still a football discussion even though politics plays a hand.

    hope its LONG TERM

That's probably a 50/50 split among fans. My vote is for independence.

Didnt somebody on here recently say that ND would NEVER drop the Navy game?

I've said that. My guess is that they'd be more likely to drop USC than Navy.

    2 hours ago, DT said:

Could the Irish "convince" Navy that maybe they would rather not play this game given all the COVID Related issues?

Nope. I'm not a ND administrator, but I think Navy ranks higher than USC and Stanford.

But I firmly believe that the ND side of that discussion is absolutely committed to playing Navy as long as Navy wants to play. Some things are non-negotiable at Notre Dame. That’s one of them.

    Fact.

I agree with you there. But I’m hoping it doesn’t happen.

I really don't think it will. On one hand, I think DT makes a good point. If there is a year, then this is it. But I'd put a friendly 4 to 1 odds that Notre Dame keeps Navy somehow this year.

All signs indicate  a full fledged move into the ACC for the Notre Dame football program.  Frankly, I like the move.  Therer is no room left in the Big Ten for another all time great blue blood program.  Notre Dame has built one of the all time best college football records thru shrewd scheduling and by controlling its own destiny.  The Big Ten is now a power gauntlet and the Irish would likely be worn down after going toe to toe with the Big Tens best over a full season.

The ACC gives the Irish a better opportunity to remain relevent in the national spotlight.  And over the years, I think many of us non Domers have come to the realization that ND is not a mid west school, its an east coast New York  oriented school with a national draw.

With regards to recruiting, Notre Dame has routinely cherry picked the very best high school football talent that Indiana has to offer, year after year.  Two of Indianas most recent finest, Blake Fisher and Joey Tanona, are future Irish offensive linemen with probable NFL futures.

But with NDs geographic shift to the east, wiill young Indiana boys growing up in the Hoosier Heartland lose their comnnection to the Irish football program?  With rare games against old rivals Michigan, MSU and Purdue, Indiana kids will not see the Irish on TV like they used to.  Or maybe they will just tune out the ND-GT, ND-WF, ND-NCST games due to a lack of interest.

I believe this will indeed impact Notre Dames recruiting efforts in Indiana, and IU and PU should be waiting in the wings to pounce when the opportunity comes.  It is rare indeed for PU to beat out ND for an in state kid, and almost imnpossible for IU to do the same.

ND is slowly but gradually losing its grip on Indiana and the Midwest, and that is clearly by choice.  Indiana will never be the fertile football recruiting ground as is many other states, but it is the geographic home of the school, and the program.  Fisher and Tanona may be the beginnning of the end of the blue chip pipeline to South Bend.  For Hoosier and Boiler fans, there could be nothing better.

Good post. The Irish certainly have plenty to think about moving forward.

You could very well be right and I may be wrong, but come 2021, Notre Dame is back to playing their independent schedule. This is a one time thing.

National draw yes, but probably more Chicago than New York.

Indiana kids grow up loving Notre Dame football. I'm not sure moving to the ACC will impact their desire to play for the Irish. I don't think we'll have to worry about Notre Dame football joining the ACC for good though. But who knows, after this year, the administration may decide to go another direction.

Unpopular opinion:  Kids will actually socially distance less if they are not at school or participating in a sport this fall...

Sports also keeps a percentage of kids out of trouble. Some won't get into trouble regardless.........some will. Taking athletics away from these students is just a bad idea in my opinion. And for some, it's all they have to look forward to. Some will say this is selfish thinking because our desire to watch football is stronger than the safety of our kids. Could canceling athletics due to public pressure also be considered a form of selfishness? Because pressure is what this is really about when considering whether or not to play.

I'm saying I'm missing the good old days when high school football was discussed here. Politics were immediately moved to the Out of Bounds Forum. Where they belong.

So yeah, i do care about kids. That's why ive repeatedly stated I want a season IN THE SPRING but keep making up stuff my man.

No one said anything about you not caring about kids. Your're just brain dead when it comes to politics.

Reading must be tough for you and the 3 people who liked your post.... Where did I say I want no football to be played? Ive never said that nor typed it...so keep saying that..cause you are clearly wrong..and I've stated many times that im for a condensed season in the spring.

Tried to make it four, but apparently there is a limit of 3 reactions per day.

Honestly, if you just want to enjoy a fun, engaging game and don’t focus on any one team, almost every weekend there is going to be either a big rivalry game or a game between two Top 5 (or 10) teams in one class or highly ranked teams from across classes  (example - Chatard v Cathedral, Cathedral v. Carmel, Lutheran v. Scecina, etc.) within 30-40 minutes of most any part of Indianapolis.

Agree. If I moved to Indy I would be attending the best game that particular week.
