Yeah, I was including SA with AC for this. SA made it to regionals how many times and fell to AC. Be curious to see how they do without AC around, though they were in a bit of rebuilding last year instead of reloading.

Fortunately for South Adams, Adams Central will no longer be a road block for them. I love the challenge AC will face in 2A.

I do have an issue with the success factor though. Although AC would have been 2A regardless as a result of increase in enrollment, I don't agree that they should bump up a class as a result of points without a state title to show for it. Maybe that's something the IHSAA could look into.

Is this an appropriate "football" thread, BTF?

I'm not an administrator so it's not my judgment call. I do consider this a fan forum though. The coaches have their own exclusive forum and very rarely do I ever see a current player posting on here. So in my opinion, I don't see it as inappropriate. I think you also have to the look at the source. Many of this poster's threads are created for entertainment purposes only, not to be taken literal.

Man we send a Class 1A state finalist 4 years in a row and aren't good enough to be in the area to pick from. Bummer.

Adams Central and East Central are the outlier to this theory. There should have been a dot on those two small towns rather than a line that included the entire southeast portion of Indiana. The Jets are, arguably, the best football program in the state of Indiana regardless of class.

Disclaimer: There are probably 15 programs in the state that could make that same claim.

I'm certain the defense got through the game (physically) unscathed! Mentally––very, very scathed. I suppose you could argue we didn't have a single able-bodied player from the opening kickoff given the results.

We for sure had one unreported head injury on special teams––of course those were the dying days of the bell-ringing era.

It's good that everyone can look back and laugh. At the end of the day, Penn still has five state titles  in the largest school division and the best record in the state spanning four decades.

Yes, when you live in the city in which the school resides you will typically just use the name of the school. In media and when talking to people who are not always familiar with the schools around the state, using Indianapolis, South Bend or Fort Wayne helps the lay person know where in the state we are talking about.  I believe there is a South Bend Washington and a Washington HS.... If someone just posted a topic saying....OMG did you see what happened at Washington over the weekend?  most people will probably think uh oh something happened in South Bend...but the thread could be about the 4A school in southern Indiana. Plus Harrell's website lists the schools from those towns above with the city name in it.

Or they just use parentheses. Carroll (Fort Wayne) or Carroll (Flora). Carroll(Fort Wayne) sits just outside city limits, so they don't get the Fort Wayne Carroll label. The high school itself has a Fort Wayne address, but many of their students have a Huntertown address.

I know it was a very small dataset, but you could see in the scrimmage that Westfield was going to have trouble against Ben Davis. They could not keep BD's defensive line out of their offensive backfield.

The only thing slowing BD down is the grass. You get them in the perfect indoor environment, and it's lights out. I'll argue day and night that turf favors the faster team. I think Westfield would have suffered the same fate at Crown Point. I could be wrong, just my take.

Saying Fort Wayne ( what ever school it is) helps people know where said school is located.  If you just Snider most people would have no clue where that is at.

Agree. But a team has to be located inside the city limits. Harding, for example sat on the outside of Fort Wayne city limits and was part of the East Allen County school system. However, 90% of their student body was from inside city limits. That's partially true of Carroll and Homestead. Both cities sit on the outside, with many students sitting on the inside. Long story short, if the school sits inside limits, then it's labeled as such. No ones ever said "Indianapolis Carmel." We're just left wondering where suburban schools are from...........I guess that's what google is for.

To be fair, It is not Fort Wayne Wayne, it is just Wayne. Example, it is not Fort Wayne Snider or Fort Wayne Luers or Fort Wayne Dwenger either

That's interesting. Not very often do you hear just Jefferson, it's Lafayette Jeff. Or Riley, it's South Bend Riley. Evansville Reitz. Indianapolis Ritter. I think when a city has more than one high school, it's common to label them with the city name in front. When there is one high school, it's just named after the ciy..............Warsaw, New Haven, Angola, ect.

We were really good that year, and 2002 was a huge lost opportunity for Penn.

If––not to overlook a semi-state matchup with Snider––Penn had made it to state, then Ben Davis's last three tournament games would have been against the three teams they lost to in the regular season.

Penn was good that year. Missed opportunities are a tough pill to swallow. Homestead was also very good that year. Both teams would like a do over I'm sure.

I agree there are reasons to be excited about the progression of the best teams in 6A North, but right now I am putting money down on the House. Betting odds are in their favor, it is up to the other schools to go and take it. It is like the BIG10 and the SEC. It took a generational team in Michigan to finally beat Bama and a hot team in OSU to win in 2014.

Sometimes lightening in a bottle can win you a title, sometimes you finally have to horses to do it, but no one has sustained success like the SEC... I mean Metro Indy.

I'm 50/50. I betting Crown Point is more than just a one year wonder. Carroll has a D1 quarterback, and Snider's defense has the potential to be as good as they were last year led by two D1 defensive backs. Weeks 1 & 2 will be interesting. Fort Wayne takes on Indy. Crown Point takes on Arizona Prep. We'll see real quick what the north is made of.
