Yeah, I can't deny that. I've seen a lot of football Robert. The SAC's top 4 is pretty good. Honestly, I just don't think Homestead knew what they were getting themselves into with a 1-8 team. But that lesson should have been learned a long time ago. Records out of Indianapolis can be misleading. But you are right, I've talked the SAC up this year.

They've dismantled everyone they've played without a lapse. That's the sign of a national champion. If OSU wins it all, I can't imagine Day not winning Coach of the Year.

I agree. Ohio State is firing on all cylinders. Penn State is good, but not good enough to take down the Buckeyes in Columbus. This just seems like a special year for Ohio State. I have them currently at #1 in my poll.

That's fine if you want to go there. Congratulations to Michigan on having the luckiest opening drive in college football history to set the tone for the game. Notre Dame defense dominates Michigan's offense on the opening drive forcing a three and out. Then Notre Dame's special teams dominates Michigan's special teams by blocking their punt. Ball skids forward, Notre Dame player touches it, Michigan recovers. First down. Nice lucky way to set the tone for the game. Your Wolverines, who are barely top 20 at best with an overrated coach, were extremely lucky to be able to play Notre Dame in worse case scenario weather conditions.......................the great equalizer. Too bad there won't be a rematch in better weather January 1st. Or maybe there should be since these two teams won't see each other for another 13 years. I guess we'll have to see how good Georgia is at the end of the season. Or this week for that matter. Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson are in a league of their own. LSU is in tier two. The rest is a crapshoot (Notre Dame, Florida, and Penn State could be the #20 team for all we know). Maybe Florida holds that 5 spot. Maybe it's Penn State. Bottom line....................not much separation between 5 through 20. But according to you, ND isn't even top 20. Since you know everything, you're right, ND isn't a top 20 team and therefore can't make a claim for 5th.

He was already committed to Florida at that point. I don't recall saying he was never a great coach. I just don't think he's the SAME coach he once was. Brian Kelly had an undefeated season at Cincinnati, took ND to the title in 2012, and made the playoffs last year. But it's ok to talk about HIS failures? That's a double standard if I ever saw one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Urban Meyer has two national championships...............bla, bla, bla. He's also had his fair share of "embarrassing" losses in recent years. But no one want's to talk about those. I have nothing against Meyer. He's been through a lot of BS the last few years and I think it's affected him. He's not the same. No shame in that. Fact. That's news to me. Rumored by who? World News Report?

Very little brain activity these days on ESPN. Take anything Finebaum or Herbstreit say with a grain of salt. The two idiots on PTI are just as bad. Finebaum's goal is to get under the skin of anyone associated with Notre Dame. Herbstreit is so biased toward his Buckeyes it's sick. He had the audacity to say that Ohio State was better than Notre Dame last year. Outside of Ohio State alumni, no intelligent human being who knows anything about the game could possibly agree with that. Urban Meyer is NOT the coach he once was. Sure, they did pretty good in his first season with the Buckeyes in 2012. And in 2014, they went from a barely Top 7 program to national champions after their 3rd string quarterback somehow lit a fire under the team. But really, what have in they done in Meyer's final fours seasons? They won a lot of close games during a time I'd consider the Big Ten VERY average. They were waxed last year at Purdue..............trumps Notre Dame's loss to Michigan. They were embarrassed by Clemson in 2016..............trumps Notre Dame's loss to Clemson last year. No one ever seems to bring up Meyer's embarrassing losses............why is that? (can't wait to see the answers) The thought of Notre Dame firing Kelly in favor of Meyer is an absolute joke. Meyer under-performed at a university that can only be matched by Alabama, Texas, and USC in terms of the resources they offer their head coaches. Kelly at Ohio State? Look what he did at Cincinnati. Imagine the possibilities there. Kelly is the better coach. Imagine Kelly at Texas. Not many coaches could do what Kelly has done at Notre Dame considering academic restrictions on recruiting. If Notre Dame had any reason to fire Kelly, it would have been for hiring Brian VanGorder to lead his defense a few years ago. Other than that, Brian Kelly is a pretty darn football coach. Jenkins and Swarbrick are shaking their heads and laughing at Finebaum's comments as we all debate about this.

IHSAA Should Mandate Week 10 Games for Class 5A and 6A
BTF replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Agree. A tenth game will never happen unfortunately. However, it would be a great opportunity for SAC teams to play out of conference. Homestead used to play Carmel and Snider used to play Penn. -
I always felt the same way. I'm just going off of memory, but didn't he have a lot of close games against top tier opponents his last year at IU? I felt like he was a year away from making IU football a proud program, and the pulled the plug on him. I was baffled to say the least.

Being a mid-western guy all my life, I've always been a fan of the Big Ten. Good luck to your Wolverines, I hope they do well the rest of the way.

No point in continuing this conversation with anyone who isn't intelligent enough to understand how weather conditions like that would favor a team like Michigan. At the end of the day, like it or not, Notre Dame is still ranked 16th in the country. Who do you follow and what are they ranked? That might explain the hostility. Go Irish! And good luck to whoever you follow.
-
The Tigers may very well win it. I'm not saying they won't. I just want to see how they do against Alabama. Tight wins over Texas and Florida, in my opinion, doesn't qualify them for top 3 status................that's all, just my opinion. Hopefully they prove me wrong. I have nothing against the Tigers. Your second comment is an opinion, not a fact. If the Irish were to lose to them, I think it would be a competitive ballgame. Time will tell.
-
They were a few self inflicted mistakes away from defeating Georgia in a much more hostile environment and playing in better weather conditions. The Irish wouldn't fear the Tigers..............sorry.
-
Not sure who to put my money on. At this point Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, or Clemson could win it. I have LSU ranked 4th at this point, the reason for my hypothetical ND/LSU match-up. I think the top three are in a league of their own. I'm just not sold on LSU yet as a front-runner for the championship. Thanks, but which part?
-
Ex-coach? Lol, makes sense then :). I get it, Book has some issues and I'm sure Kelly is considering his options with Jurkovich. But he's not a BAD quarterback (above average in fact), and the Irish offense is highly dependent on the passing attack.

I've been waiting this entire thread for someone to ask that question. You sound like like a true coach. Saying the right thing at the podium. The nice thing about fan forums, is that we can actually say it like it is. I'm not being disrespectful toward you, so don't take this the wrong way. It just doesn't take a genius to understand that weather elements like that favored Michigan's style of play? Did it affect Michigan's passing game? No, they couldn't pass anyway. Does Michigan have a great run defense? Absolutely. Knowing that ND would be one dimensional played in their favor. Sorry, I know ND haters don't want to see the truth in that (and apparently some ND fans), but it's a fact.
