Roncalli took such a noble stance that varsity football was the only sport they cancelled with Cathedral? Right. I’d use another word to describe Roncalli’s actions but it would get censored.

It's a bunch of baloney. 1) Cathedral nor Brebeuf are diocesan schools. Nether should be held to the same standard as diocesan schools. Roncalli started hemorrhaging kids to both Cathedral and Center Grove as they were an emerging power at the time 2) Roncalli had ZERO issue scheduling Cathedral in any other IHSAA sport after this "agreement" was reneged and has been that way for the last 20 years. They used to/still(?) play freshman/JV football against Cathedral. Bottom line, Cathedral turned the tables on Roncalli after being Roncalli's whipping by for several seasons and Roncalli responded by taking their ball and going home.

About 15-20 years ago, Roncalli wanted Cathedral's student enrollment makeup to mirror Chatard, Scecina, Ritter, etc...ie stop taking non-Catholic students. Cathedral told Roncalli to piss in the wind and the series was never renewed once the contract expired. It renewed a few years ago for two seasons but the games weren't competitive and Roncalli took their ball and went home again. Crazy to think that its been almost 20 years to the day the last time Roncalli beat Cathedral in football. That rivalry used to be one of the best in the state back in the day.

So does the "official" game clock show tenths and hundredths of seconds? Why doesn't the TV or stadium scoreboard show those tenths of seconds like they do for basketball? I'm not doubting that there were tenths of seconds left, just seems fishy when the "official" clock isn't seen by anybody but the conference. My biggest issue is that the stadium clock read 0:00 when the ball was touched by the Western Michigan player signaling the end of the game. Every player and coach in the stadium goes off the clock on the scoreboard. If you are saying that the official clock and the scoreboard clock aren't synced what happens when a coach calls a TO with 1 second showing on the stadium clock to set up a last second FG but the official clock hits 0 because they aren't synched?

Friday should be a really good game. Cathedral offense starting to show some life as they are riding a big time win in Cincy vs St. X. Chatard pounded Roncalli but believe they enter Friday's contest down a key player.

Ugly but entertaining game. Penalties galore on both teams that will probably keep both coaches up all week. Ben Davis lead a time consuming, game winning drive after completely unraveling in the 2nd half after being in total command. Cathedral forced some 2nd half turnovers and came all the way back to tie it. QB play once again appears to be a concern for Cathedral.

From what I hear, a major work in-progress. Sounds like defense will be their strength but they are breaking in a new QB and several new offensive lineman.

There's a very real chance that Cathedral is back in 4A for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, assuming they don't elect to stay in 5A. I believe they need to advance to the state championship this year to accumulate enough points to remain in 5A. Cathedral hasn't played in it's enrollment based classification since 2012.

Well the narrative last week was that USC was ducking Notre Dame.

Has anyone from Notre Dame or the national media refuted this? Are we calling Riley and SC's athletic department liars?

I'd saying opting out of a game with the potential best team on your schedule next year is certainly something, especially when you were left out this year because you didn't beat anybody. Notre Dame needs SC much more than SC needs Notre Dame, whether or not the Irish are willing to admit that. Sounds like SC was trying to do them a favor.

Think Oregon is 47-3 at home in their last 50 games. Autzen is a ridiculously hard place to play. Not sure what last year has to do with this year? Alabama didn't even make the playoff last year and lost 28-7 to Georgia in the SEC championship game.

They beat Oregon 30-20 in Eugene 3 months ago and won by 27 the last time they played at the Rose Bowl. Thursday's crowd will be way more Pro-IU than Alabama. I much more worried about the team on the field than the intangibles.
