  1. Okay, gotcha. When you said, "All schools" I was thinking you meant every school in the state.
  2. Maybe I misunderstand what you are tying to say. How is artificial turf and grass the same thing? Grass fields usually end up with mud/bare spots, artificial turf fields do not.
  3. I read an article on CBS sports that showed a list of teams that made the most sense for signing free agent defensive lineman, Suh. The Colts were #1 on the list but the list was by who had the most cap space. With the recent signing of Spencer Ware, I wouldn't be shocked if Ballard signed someone like Suh. Yeah he's older but I don't think the Colts would use him as an every down player. Besides, he does a lot of his damage these days in the playoffs. It seems to me his "dirty playing" is behind him and he might be a possibility for the Colts to pursue.
  4. Loved the comment by Reich: "You're four for four". I guess that means they got the first four guys they had on their "wish list". Interesting.
  5. So are there any smaller schools (1A - 3A) with turf?
  6. That goes to show you: "Great minds, think alike". LOL I feel the same about the JV kids against varsity. I feel both teams should change out. I would hate to see a younger, smaller kid get blasted by someone 50 pounds bigger and a couple years older. Maybe not so much age, but size for sure. And yes, I've noticed that some keep their varsity in against the JV. I've seen them score on the JV and they act like they've won the game. Bad sportsmanship (IMO). And I've also noticed we picked up 4A Boonville on the schedule this year. Man, Linton's SOS is really getting tough! Not many of the old 1A teams left now, but I really love it!
  7. This will also help out cutting down on those blowout scores. In the past with the 5 quarters, in some games Linton would have to wait until the fourth quarter to play a lot of their JV. Now with 6 quarters, they can play the entire second half and still play 4 quarters in a JV game. That's going to be a big deal for some of the smaller schools or teams with a limited roster.
  8. Sectional 40 won't be as tough now that Southridge has moved up to 3A. Mater Dei and Linton are still in there, but it won't be as strong without the Raiders.
  9. Cool. Ballard is quite popular these days. He's earned it.
  10. I want to clarify something I said when I started this topic. When I said I'd miss an extra point on purpose, I wasn't talking about being able to run up the score in the second half. I was going with being able to play a full game (no running clock) so your backups and JV could get more snaps of playing time. I've seen games when there was a running clock in the second half. I've also seen coaches refuse to use a running clock even though they were down by 50+ and the other coach offered it to them. I guess now it isn't a decision any more, it is a rule and will happen regardless. So what does that coach that doesn't want to give up on his team say now? How does he keep them motivated to play? I have always admired the old Dugger teams. Coach Gamble's teams ALWAYS played to the whistle and to the end of the game. Even though they were down by 8 - 10 touchdowns, they'd never quit playing. That is coaching your boys.
  11. I posted this on the Colts 2019 topic but thought I'd put it here also in case some people don't read up on the Colts. Ware was signed to a one year deal for $1.3 million with an additional $2.5 million in incentives. Ware has been with the Kansas City Chiefs. Just a few years ago he was the featured back. He had 800 yards rushing and another 500 receiving. If it hadn't been for an injury the next off season, he'd probably still be their featured back. Then they drafted Hunt and got Williams so Ware became a free agent this off season. This was a good signing and contract for the Colts. If nothing else, he's good competition for training camp. If he makes the team and only gives them 400 - 500 yards rushing and 5 or 6 TD',s then he's worth the contract. He has a reputation for being a good blocker and is good out of the backfield in the passing game. Maybe no one really cares, but just wanted people to know that Ware is no longer a free agent.
  12. It's finally happened in Indiana. The ISHAA has a new rule. From now on, if a score is at least 35 - 0 at halftime, there will be a running clock in the second half. Hmmmmm, if I'm a coach, I'm going to only score 34 even if I have to miss an extra point on purpose. LOL Dumb rule. There are still going to be 55 - 0 and 63 - 0 scores. The explanation I heard was they want kinds to still feel good about competing. Uh huh.
  13. THE COLTS SIGN FREE AGENT RUNNING BACK SPENCER WARE FROM THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS! They've got their big back now. He is on a one year deal signed at 1.3 million with another 2.5 million in incentives. Another great signing and another great contract by Ballard. Even if he only gets 500 yards rushing and 5 or 6 TD's, it is worth the contract. I've been told (by KC fans) he's a great blocker and is good in the passing game as a receiver out of the backfield. He was the featured back just a few years ago until an injury side lined him and KC got Hunt and Williams. A couple of the KC fans I spoke with said they are pissed that KC let him go.
  14. Funchess has a rep of dropping balls too and so did Ebron. Just saying that may be something that can get fixed with Butler. Anyway, I agree that Hilton and Campbell could become a deadly duo, no make that WILL become a deadly duo. Both of them are very fast. Hines is also very fast. You know what they say, "Speed kills" and this offense is going to "kill" a lot of defenses this year.
  15. But when he did, man could he break tackles and a get a ton of YAC. I just looked at him as you cant teach/coach 6'5". But as I said earlier, I am really onboard with the Campbell selection. I don't care if he ever goes deep much. he is off the charts when catching an underneath route or a slant and breaking it big. That's Reich's offense: get the ball out quick to speedy guys and let them do their magic. TY, Campbell, Hines and hell even Ebron are going to be a nightmare to try to cover. It appears the Colts will have one of the fastest group of receivers in the league. This is gonna be so much fun to watch. And I haven't even mentioned Cain and Doyle coming back. Looks like Luck is heading for another career season in stats.
  16. Man, it's taken me forever to get back on here. Since I'm months behind, I'll just pick up post draft. The Colts did pretty well again this year. I really was hoping the Colts would draft Butler out of Iowa State. After they passed on him and took Paris Campbell, I sat and thought about it. Campbell is the perfect type of WR to fit in Reich's offense. He is going to blow people's minds the first time he catches an underneath route and takes it to the house. Now Luck has his "Marvin and Reggie" to throw to. Great selection Colts! I also liked the Rock Ya-Sin pick. Great fit for the secondary as is Willis at safety from Michigan State. With the guys they have resigned and coming back, the secondary looks totally solid. I'm going to mention an FA signing here. Getting Houston from KC was fantastic. Putting him at DE and no more pass coverage will allow him to get after it. I expect to see him back to double digit sacks this season. I was a bit disappointed the Colts didn't draft any Defensive Tackles. I thought They would grab at least one in the first couple of picks. Even though Autry had 9 sacks, I still feel the middle of the D line is a bit "soft". Then again, I'm not Ballard, so there's that. Was also hoping for another linebacker. Was totally surprised they took three of them! Grabbing two offensive linemen at the end, was kind of "icing on the cake" so to speak. Depth is ALWAYS a good thing. So an early prediction: With what we have coming back and what we signed in FA plus the new "recruits", I'd say the Colts will win the South and will be one of the early favorites to be in the AFC title game. It's a good time to be a Colts fan!
