  1. That is a bit of a surprise based on the pre-game chatter. Miner_Pride is beside himself.
  2. Anyone have a score for Linton-Stockton game? Miner_Pride, where are you!?
  3. There is no such thing as "the system" when it comes to P/Ps. There are several different "systems" throughout the state in metro areas such as Indy, Ft Wayne, Evansville, et al. The Evv Catholic School system has approx 15 grade schools. Approx 90% of their graduates feed into either Mater Dei or Memorial. Are these students "recruited"?
  4. Dang, Castle D looks like it has never seen a play action pass play before. Totally befuddled by the idea the QB would fake a hand-off and then throw the ball
  5. This is the proverbial elephant in the room that is all too often brushed aside or simply ignored as it does not fit the desired narrative that only P/Ps recruit.
  6. CONGRATULATIONS Patriots! The Patriot Defense was the difference as they were able to stop the Tigers 2x inside the 10 yd line. Fingers crossed for a long drive to Indy over Thanksgiving break for HH faithful.
  7. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the first half, beside the overall score, was HH's passing game on both offense and defense. HH line is impressive but 3 BIG plays, 2 of them long TD passes, may have caught many off-guard, including myself. However, the Patroit pass D was really impressive. Only rushing 3 but still keeping sufficient pressure on Fisher, the Patriot LBs & DBs have been solid until the last drive of the half. Kudos to Patriots. The quick TD drive by the Tigers to close the half kept them in the game, at least for a while longer. BUT, as I write this, the Tigers have come out to start the 2nd half with a long TD pass in a drive that lasted just over a minute. Could be a wild second half. Stay tuned.
  8. This may be on one of the other associated threads but will this be streamed on HUDL or SRN via IHSAA.tv?
  9. I watched both games from last night and based on film, I will go with the Tigers. I could easily be wrong but that is my gut based on what I saw on tape. HH line is big and physical and Memorial is a little weak against the run. However VL's line was smaller and quicker, which gave HH line trouble for first half. Tiger lineman are not as big but seem quicker and more athletic - similar to VL but much more talented. Plus Memorial tackles far better than VL. For Tigers to win however, Fisher cannot have the same game he had last night. Certainly SR D played a role but many of Fisher's passes were well off the mark, something he rarely seems to do. I think the Tiger passing game and its ability to score quickly from any point on the field is the difference as HH will run, run, run, run, run and then run again, burning up the clock and keeping ball away from the Tigers. In the end, the Tigers find a way to eeck out a 24 - 21 win. mi dos centavos. As always, best of luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game. Travel safely!
  10. "B" Parking was likely full by yesterday afternoon with tailgate preparations. SR folks should stop by. If the Tiger faithful will welcome a "heretic fan" from their West Side rival, they will truly accept anyone at their gatherings!
  11. I may well need to make the trip to the Jungle should the MHS vs HH matchup materialize as expected but I will gladly take the night off this week and watch both games online. Good luck to all local teams this week.
  12. So, I am putting my prediction for the MD vs Memorial tilt out there a little early. I am picking Wildats in a huge (YUUU-GE!) upset 17 - 14. No, I am not bettting the farm on this outcome but for MD to pull off the upset, some things need to fall into place IMHO. First, Memorial has a definite advantage if the game becomes higher scoring affiar so Wildcat D needs to step - BIG TIME and keep score low. The lower, the better! Cam Marx wins the game with a 49 yd FG as time expires, similar to the win over the undefeated and heavily favored North Posey team many years ago. Ironically, that game was played at Central Stadium which cannot be just a coincidence! Secondly, the girlfriend of the Tiger QB must break up with him just before the game. I understand this is the ultimate devastation these days so this should improve the Wildcats' chances immensely (JK - for entertainment purposes only!) Lastly, Tiger bus breaks down and team has to walk the last 5 miles to the stadium. A late fall heat wave, very specifically located along, and only along, their route, pushes temps well into the 100+ range. Tigers arrive late to the stadium with all starters suffering from acute dehydration and slight delirium. (Again, just kidding...no animals - or players - were injured while concocting this story!) In all seriousness, the Wildcats have a big challenge ahead of them but stranger things have happened. Fingers crossed for the Cats to pull off what would arguably be the upset of the tournament. But, as the great Tug McGraw once said: "Ya gotta believe!" Best of luck to both teams on a well-played and injury free game!
  13. Back in the day...our parents & west siders, in general, were allegedly fans of viewing the moonlight and the submarine races from atop Reitz Hill but that is probably a topic for a different forum and audience. Notice, I said "allegedly"... not pointing fingers here! 😳
  14. I like the line posted by TigerFan that has the Tigers favored by 7 more than your heavily lopsided prediction cousin, but I can't disagree with it. 8 - ) MD underperforms on pass defense and that is where the Tigers excel. But hey, crazier things have happened. I witnessed the upset by the Tigers vs Reitz game last year at Enlow. It will take a special effort by the Wildcats, likely combined with an off night from Memorial but, as Tug McGraw once said: "Ya gotta believe!" Good luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game, and may all fans make it home safely from the game - & the tailgating !
  15. Are they really running the field from Centerfield to Home plate? In the old days - I am old enough to remember my brother's football games at Bosse Field - I believe they ran the field from LF to RF and the bleachers were set up on top of the infield area. However, that may have been before they added the second wall, well inside the brick outer wall.
