Updated prediction for sectional alignments.
A lot of these make sense, so it will be curious to see how the people that decide will screw them up.

I noticed the plusses on the IHSAA document said "Schools Eligible for the tournament". Does this mean that all of these teams will participate or just that they have the opportunity to, but might not?

As a fan, I don't care one way or another. I would imagine, as a coach, you're probably in the minority with regard to eliminating the scrimmage. I'm guessing most coaches would rather knock heads against another team in a practice game before kicking off when it actually counts.
I'd be fine removing the scrimmage. With the number of pro pad scrimmages the IHSAA allows each summer, I feel like the kids are generally pretty ready to go once the regular season starts rolling.

It'll be interesting to see how full they let each class get.
Looking at Harrell's site, each class had the following number of teams in last year's sectionals:
6A- 32
5A- 31 ( believe this was down due to school merger but could be wrong)
4A- 64
3A- 64
2A- 62
1A- 58
If they use similar logic for this cycle, it could change the top end of 1A with a high caliber LaVille team.

No way Rochester is correct either...

Congrats to the following HNAC players for making the IFCA All State teams for their respective classes! Pretty impressive for our conference to have 15 kids make the teams!

- Secondly, Catholics in general don't attend Catholic schools ... PRACTICING Catholics do. So while Tippecanoe's Catholic population is around 11-12% Catholic, the practicing Catholic population is less. Note, practicing Catholic population doesn't necessarily mean registered parishioner either. There are plenty of registered Catholics that are what are referred to as Creaster Catholics ... they attend Mass only at Christmas and Easter annually and, sometimes, just one of those.
We call them the submarine Christians because they surface twice a year

Its pretty well understood that p/p schools do have advantages over public schools, which is why parents that are able to offer these opportunities to their children send them there as opposed to public schools. These kids, in most cases, have excellent family support and the opportunities to flourish in safer, more structured environments. If there were no advantages, parents wouldn't send their kids there. This translates to the football field.
A better question in my eyes is what makes the public schools that are traditionally successful, competitive most years. Small schools will always have ebbs and flows in talent, class sizes etc. What do Adams Central, Linton Stockton, North Judson, Pioneer, Webo, Sheridan, Eastbrook, etc do that make them successful consistently??? Is it weight room dedication, culture, coaching, game philosophy, youth programs?
I've always been of the mindset if you don't like losing get better. Trying to make a universal system of equity isn't going to happen, nor should it in my opinion, so go out and work harder/ coach better. Build up your regular season schedule to prep for the tournament, stretch your teams in summer scrimmages, participate in 7 on 7's and most importantly get your kids competing in the offseason (track, wrestling, basketball, etc)!

Yep. Win or lose, they are likely to follow the path of Scecina and Linton ... teams that have seen LOS, ended up in 2A via SF, and end up with enrollment numbers to stay regardless of SF points to stay.
Odds are once in 2A AC will be in the same sectional as Luers every year. Could provide some exciting matchups!

Curious if Chatard has faced an offense similar to Knox's this year. I would assume (and could be wrong) that Chatard has exclusively faced spread teams. Knox does a great job of hitting opposing defenses with a variety of formations and looks while sometimes pulling what seems like half of their line on every play. Definitely a difficult offense to prepare for if you don't see something similar all season.

Same deal. Eastern only beat 2 teams with winning records all season.

So those that have seen Carroll play this year, what do they have to do friday to get this game into the fourth quarter with a chance to win? Or maybe what do they have to change up from what they have done this year. They seem to pass more than last year but still, if AC shuts down the inside runs with the big boy then what?
Pray. The only team with a pulse that Carroll played all season was Sheridan.

Which part is uncalled for? I said I respected him and he should be praised etc. etc. Do I have to come to the alter you have for him and kiss the feet of his golden statue?
Again, you're proving my point, everyone loves to call "blasphemy" at the drop of a hat but not one person will answer the questions I have about the clear issues. Respond to those instead of crying for Bud Wright, he's surely taken plenty of criticism in his long tenure, this is nothing!
Tell me how running the same plays 3-4 times in a row consistently is good coaching.
Tell me how running the EXACT same defense, no changes, no adjustments, everyone 2 yards off the ball every play even in 3rd and 20+ is good coaching. If you can't answer the questions and tell me how these and other coaching decisions are considered good coaching and make Sheridan coaching untouchable to criticism, then you need to keep your mouth shut.
The Sheridan fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but a coach isn't going to change his coaching philosophy after several years of coaching let alone 50+. Bud wants to play good defense and pound the ball/control the clock. That thinking has led to one of the most historic coaching careers in the nation. With that said, no coach is infallible or should be free from criticism. The simplicity of the offense and defense are probably a reflection of the team he has this year. A quick look at maxpreps looks like they are pretty young overall. Might be keeping things simple to get the kids playing fast. Traditionally Bud was an option guy, probably doesn't have the dudes to do that this year, so simplify. Regardless, the dude has plenty of hardware to support his coaching style and has the team playing for a regional title this Friday.

Has LaVille played anyone with a passing game like LCC's?
The closest thing would be Andrean.

Glenn@ Knox- Knox Football team will be too much for Glenn.Bremen@ LaVille- Lancers win in a close rematchJudson@ Triton- Judson has some solid pieces, but they do not have a full 11 to beat the Trojans. Look for Triton to get the ground game going and open up the play action game against Judson. The field position game cannot be understated with how well Shively kicks the ball. Judson will have to drive 80 yards every drive unless the D can make some plays. -

All these teams should win fairly easily.
Knox could be the only "close" one if they decide to overlook WN since WN barely beat Lakeland earlier in the year. I don't see that happening with Knox feeling like everyone is disrespecting them in the rankings all year.
The bad thing with the rankings is that they are all filled out by coaches and media members that have no clue what the teams on the other side of the state are doing. Using 1A as an example, anyone with half of a brain knew North White was not a top 10 team and they lose to 1 2 win Caston team in round 1. Let Knox use it as motivation, but they shouldn't need to.

How's 1A going to shake out with no AC and Lutheran in the mix?

Sectional alignments will go a long was in determining the north in my opinion. There's a possibility of Judson, Laville and Pioneer all being in the same sectional or in 3 different sectionals depending on where the committees put them. I think Judson is the favorite in the north this year. They return nearly everyone from a semi state team that is well coached and physical.
