Schuh is the best player, Plummer is the best athlete.
I have a hard time naming either of these player of the year when they only play offense. Plummer only went in on defense against Pioneer when LaVille’s corner kept getting scorched by our 5’6” wideout.
In a conference where a large number of kids play both ways, I think a POTY candidate should play both o and d.

Single wing heavy team with spread gun worked in. Very athletic group of skill position guys. For a 5A school they have quite a few guys playing both ways. I think the school has only been open for 2 years.

What makes you think Pioneer even has a chance to play with LaVille, let alone actually beat them? After last years beat down in the sectional final, those Pioneer boys don’t want any part of the Lancers.
If you remember correctly, Pioneer and Judson both beat LaVille last season. It will be a tall order, but I think Pioneer can win this game. They will have to follow their week 3 game plan from last year, control the ball and the clock and keep the Lancer offense off the field. We are playing with a lot of youth, but we were able to knock those early jitters out in week 1. The Lancers will be one of, if not the best team on our regular season schedule and our kids understand that. However, they are embracing that challenge this week and preparing like they can win.

Pioneer will be hosting Northwestern on Friday.

My HNAC tiers entering the season:
Tier 1: Judson, LaVille
Tier 2: Triton, Knox
Tier 3: Pioneer, Winamac, Culver
Tier 4: Caston

Does AC post their stats online anywhere? I was curious to see what they lose statistically from graduation from last year's team. I checked MaxPreps and Digital Scout and couldn't find anything.

Will Pioneer have any studs in your opinion?
We don't have any Jack Kiser's walking through the halls if that's what you're asking...
We have a few kids that could step up and be pretty good for us this year, but most of our skill positions will be relatively new faces with different roles than they're used to playing.
-
For Pioneer:
Offensively, we lose leading rusher Brock Robinson, wingback Beau Mersch and linemen, Legrand (TE), Solano, Smith(TE) and Lowe.
Defensively, we lose Legrand and Solano from the Dline, LB Smith and DB Robinson.
We return a handful of experience on both sides of the ball, but we will need a lot of kids to step up who have limited varsity experience. I'd hazard a guess that we will see freshmen on the field on Fridays sooner rather than later due to the overall lack of depth we will have.
Will definitely be an interesting year.

LCC won sectional in 2021. In a normal 2-year reclassification period, would a single sectional championship keep a team up?
In a normal 2 year period 2 points are needed to stay up a class. 1 point for sectional, 2 points for a Regional.

I'm assuming that the IHSAA just used 2021's performance for SF decisions for schools that were playing up. Again, it would just be nice if there was official clarification from the IHSAA, but I don't have much faith that we'll get that from them.
Bingo.
2021 points still don't explain LCC being in 2A. I'm sure LCC is in the same mindset as Pioneer and others in regards to playing whoever whenever, but in the spirit of competitive fairness SSF should have been wiped clean if the IHSAA can't properly and evenly enforce it. Or better yet just get rid of it al together. I don't understand the thought process of punishing future teams for the success of the past.

With the new assignment back to 1A, I see Pioneer picking up a regional with NJSP being the potential fly-in-the-ointment to that in 41. AC is probably the swarm-in-the-ointment in the way to representing the North.
NJSP is a huge roadblock in sectional play for Pioneer. They return Harper at QB, who runs their option offense really well, Allen, who had over 2000 all purpose yards last season not to mention having the experience and hunger from making it to semi-state last year. They do lose Benson on both lines, but return the majority of the rest of their O and D next year if I'm not mistaken.

I was under the impression that Pioneer and Southridge were in the same boat in regards to SF points? (Both winning a regional in 2020 and nothing in 2021). We were told, regardless of what happened with our enrollment, that we were remaining up due to SF.
Guess they changed their mind?
I don’t know if it matters, but it looks like Southridge would have bumped regardless of success due to enrollment. This would leave Pioneer as the only team in the state affected by the 2020 points.
As others have pointed out the IHSAA needs to provide an explanation on what’s going on. If there is this much confusion why not just wipe the success factor slate clean and restart with this cycle to get aligned?

2A Outlook?

They gained a new OC but they're running the same stuff they have the last couple of years. (They do run it well). They don't do anything fancy, they just run behind their big oline and hit you with play action off of it.
