How many 2A schools have 40-60 kids on roster? Cmon now.
Delta feels heavy in 3A. They could be dangerous
The ones that come to mind from 2020 were Luers and Andrean. Makes a big difference when you have 15 kids playing nearly every snap for all three phases and you see Luers swapping out~7-8 kids as they go from offense to defense in semi state.

I've posed this question elsewhere, but is Pioneer really even in 1A? They won a regional in 2020 which would keep us in 2A unless I missed a different rule posting than what was originally released.
Between 1A and 2A just line us up and we'll play whoever. Our biggest issue at the 2A level is simply depth. Big difference going against teams with 40-60 kids on the roster compared to us only having 20-30 kids JV-Varsity.

When is the IHSAA going to announce the sectional assignments?
They usually have them out by April.
Looks like Tuesday per the IndyStar

Wonder what the odds are that honorary P/P, West Lafayette, will be in that sectional too?
💯
( I think this is how the kids use this )

Am I mistaken, or did Pioneer’s classification drop from the original release? I thought when the initial classifications were released a few weeks ago they were 2A due to SF, but now the classification document has them in 1A.
You are correct, we were 2A when this initially came out. This has to be some kind of system error/ typo.

Pioneer is looking to fill multiple coaching positions available at the high school and Jr High level. For the high school we are looking for a JV Head Coach/varsity assistant.
Pioneer currently has multiple teaching positions at the high school and elementary level:
High School Openings:
Math, Chemistry, Biology, Special Education and Guidance Counselor
Elementary Openings:
Two Positions (Grade TBD)

My biggest complaint with the setup for the scrimmages is the player pitch counts. Coming from 1A enrollment Pioneer we have to drastically scale back the outlined plays generally so that we can meet the rules of the scrimmage generally having to play JV kids that simply aren't ready to play against varsity kids. Crazy to me considering that one week later these kids that were limited plays for "safety" will be allowed to go out and play all three phases week 1.

Part of the challenge and character of the game. You have to remember the origins of football were in rugby, which was designed to be a simulation of war. The battlefield, aka, the football field, could be a nice mowed surface or pockmarked mudhole. Helps coaching staffs and players to be prepared. Unfortunately there are those who want to eliminate any variable they can from the game, and the growth of artificial turf is one of the results.
This is the most apt phrase I've ever heard to describe Pioneer's football field. When we played North Judson week 9 we lost a couple of Freshmen in the divots 😂

It's pretty easy to do - especially since it will likely only affect two. Just put the 7-team sectional in 3A & 1A in an area where Chatard & LCC could easily drop in.
One would think that counting enrollments, posting said enrollments in an orderly fashion and creating sectional brackets that make sense would be easy as well but the IHSAA seems to have missed the memo...

Yes, the classification cycle starts over this year, but there has been no clarification on what will happen to the specific schools who got bumped mid-cycle last year. There are a couple of ways they can go - keep them up for the full cycle, keep them up for half the cycle or send them back to their original class. This only affects two - maybe three - schools in football (LCC, Chatard and maybe WeBo, since it appears WeBo will be 3A due to enrollment anyway).
I can't see them adjusting sectionals mid cycle even for three teams. They should have just wiped the SF slate clean for all teams and moved forward until next cycle.
-
So if I'm reading this correctly, success factor points will be based on 2020 and 2021 football seasons. So teams that were already bumped up after 2020 cycle get the same points tacked on a second time? That hardly seems fair in the scope of things.

You're right - my apologies.
Just a frustrating situation that I feel like is getting kind of "glossed" over cause well, it doesn't affect that many people (schools) it seems.
Is our situation really that unique??
Pioneer is in the same boat.

We would be in this same boat as well (well, actually making it 5 years of SF for us)
Ditto for Pioneer...

Any update from last week's meeting/ any idea when the minutes will be posted on the IHSAA site?

In general, we teach our guys in coverage to be physical with the receivers early on in the game to try and gauge how flexible the crew will be. If crews are more "let them play" we will stay physical/ keep getting hands on the receivers, if they are more strict we will pull our guys back. I always tell the kids the first PI call is on me and I will never get on our backers for checking receivers that cross their faces. As for blown coverages on deep balls take the PI over a TD every time.

Illness? Really?? It’s funny how the North Judson/HNAC faithful give Winamac fans a hard time for complaining about a muddy field and now North Judson had to be sick or not giving enough effort. Couldn’t it be that AC was clearly much faster and more talented than North Judson? It wouldn’t take anyone very long comparing the films from these two teams to know that was the case going into the game.
There were even comments made by the NJ coach in an interview that AC wasn’t the fastest team they’ve faced. They definitely were. Not even close. They underestimated the Jets in every aspect of the game. They had no answers for the stud DTs(Wurm and Hirschy) and LBs (Heyerly, Bluhm and Tester). They sure as heck had no answers for Currie, either.I stand by my statement from a few weeks ago that got some pushback (mostly from HNAC fans) - Churubusco would’ve won any other sectional in the North. The opening sectional matchup of Busco vs AC was the de facto semistate game. I don’t even think NJ could’ve beaten South Adams or Monroe Central.
NJ was physical and had some really good players. Allen is an absolute stud. I don’t think anyone should come on here questioning their effort or health. Great season to the Blue Jays and I expect them to continue that success next year. Hopefully the Jets can represent the North well at Lucas Oil against Lutheran!
I wasn’t taking anything away from AC. They dominated every facet of the game. I will however not back down in saying that it was absolute horse crap effort by Judson. Extremely disappointing effort from a team that prides itself on its toughness and attitude.

Is it that or did AC just have that much more speed than NJ? It's hard to be confident when you know the other team can just run past you. Then when they are ahead, it can be demoralizing. NJ's defense had been really good at stringing plays side to side, but the speed was too much last night. They did do a good job defending the middle except for a couple plays where Heyerly broke through.
I watched online and as early as AC’s first and second possession the Jays defense had 10-11 guys jogging. Pretty weak effort for a team playing for a semi-state. Congrats to AC on a great game.

Where is everyone?
2 teams still going
Judson-I think Judson smacks Carroll and gets ready for AC next week.
59ers- If Laville comes out mentally prepared for Andrean like they did for Pioneer they can beat them, but if they come in flat after an emotional win last week it could be a long night. LaVille cannot get drawn into Andrean's game plan. They need to slow the game down and control the clock.

3 Point Games
North Judson @ Carroll
Lutheran @ Parke Heritage
Tri @ North Central
LaVille @ Andrean
Eastbrook @ Eastside
Scecina @ Lafayette Central Catholic
Tri-West @ Owen Valley
Mississinewa @ Northridge
New Prairie @ Lowell
Valparaiso @ Michigan City

I think AC will win this, but I think it will be closer than what you think. AC has only played 3-4 teams with winning records this year.
Panthers
Hanover
Judson by 2-3 scores, but only if they dont come in with Winamac hangover. If they let Culver get rolling it could be tighter.
