  1. From a funding standpoint, how does the 8 man differ from 11 man? Same equipment/supply costs, still have to pay coaches, refs, etc. I would assume most of these schools have a field of some sort inside of their track, but who knows what upgrades or updates are needed.

Logistically, I just don't see how schools that have made the choice not to play 11 man football for years can make the financial commitment for 8 man when it clearly hasn't been important to them. Remember, expressing interest is not the same as actually signing up and playing.

Agree, this conference looks solid.  Pound for pound, maybe the best and most balanced in the state.  What happened to the West central program and why are they not a part of this group?

They were not competitive in the HNAC so fled back to the relatively  lower competition of the MWC.

    2012 MWC 10-2

    2013 MWC 8-4

    2014 MWC 6-4

    2015 HNAC 1-9

    2016 HNAC 1-9

    2017 HNAC 0-10

    2018 MWC 4-6

    2019 MWC 3-6

I understand that some schools would have an issue, but majority of schools could fill a roster safely. I timmy plays baseball but wants to play football.. let him. Same the other way around. The only people that would have a problem with this are the over competitive adults and coaches that preach to kid that their sports is the "best". This is not a time to be like that. These kids are struggling with all of this, so why not let them play their sport when we come out of this. Just seems selfish to say it wouldn't be fair to baseball. I would be willing to bet that most schools would be able to field a football and baseball team, would some kids be getting playing time that normally wouldnt.. yep. But if thats what it takes to make a kid experience his senior year in sports. Im willing to go for it.

Class 1A-3A would not be able to field those numbers....

And where are they now?  1-9 IIRC, just two years after reaching the state title game.  Just goes to show how that "once in a decade" class of "OMG! Athletes!"  make or break most government school teams, especially in the lower enrollment classes.  p/p schools with their inherent advantages,  like long established youth feeder programs,  make the dip in talent much less and much more manageable at the high school varsity level.

Bigger factor is probably having 2 different head coaches in 2 years due to some questionable administration choices. This is not the thread or place to argue this topic (has been done repeatedly elsewhere).

My prediction is Coach Nay and the Knights get it done. Past experience has no bearing on it in my opinion, with these kids being in Jr. High the last time they were there. I think the knights coaching and their ability to make adjustments on the fly will lead them to another blue ring.

I would agree with this.  I'll post later on takeaways/observations, but just wanted to say that, for all of the talk of strength of schedule and team sizes, etc., I have to give props to Traders Point.  They dressed about 19-20 and may have had a low schedule strength ... as a matter of fact, their schedule strength was 310 out of the 321 teams listed on Sagarin and that's with #1 1A Indy Lutheran on their schedule.  None of that mattered in their play.  They were well-prepared and fairly well-disciplined in their execution.  They sent LCC to the locker room at half down 10-9.  Outside of Pioneer the last two seasons, the last time LCC went into a locker room down during the 1A tournament was all the way back in 2008 with Sheridan.  TPC played a good game, but halftime adjustments by LCC and just sheer getting worn down sealed their fate in this.  Outside of that, I think that they are a good team and I'd like to see them perhaps play a stronger schedule to perhaps get more notoriety as they tend to be overlooked.  Having seen them play with their numbers and schedule, I think other teams playing them might overlook them them at their own peril.

Lcc will beat Judson next week, and it won’t be particularly close.

  9. We got throttled by a more physically dominant team. No more no less. They wanted it more and took it. Eurit is a great player, but if you ask me the most important player on Cass is #30 Humphrey. We couldn’t block him at LB and he was dominant as a blocker at TE. He was a man among boys last night.

Full credit to Cass and hopefully it opened some eyes for us of what it will take to be successful next year.
