Yeah, I think Snider is in trouble tonight, I don't understand first call to pass, as Snider is a running team. Taylor has incentive against his old team. Only hope for Snider is North Side runs out if gas in late third and fourth Quarter. Snider is getting way out played here. North Side gets ball to start 2nd half, so Snider needs to start scoring and play some D. I hate to put this on the QB because the O line is getting wiped, but maybe put in Haupert to see if he can get something going???
Tillman has his work cut out..

Snider, big mistake on first possession. But they are also getting handled somewhat by the Legends. Taylor hits TD to get them up 19-7.
They can play..taylor strikes again..

If Carroll gained Luers top target..well..imho that makes them a favorite.. we're in a new decade I get it.. talent always reigns supreme n the program that can put the most talent on the field whom can gel n put a legitimate run together wins out..

I know it was just a scrimmage but Luers looked very good against the Legends.
How was the qb for the legends? Heard he is D1 caliber? Their jr n sr class have spent time on varsity..figured the potential has to be there..Luers returning any heavy hitters?

The legends of northside may be a sleeper..heard their new dc(ex Luers guy) has some crazy schemes n may give snider fits in game 1 of the season. That being said I do think snider has the capability of running the table if they fire on all cylinders..weapons all over the field..young guns..old guns..they all do damage.. dwenger usually have their playmakers on d, curious if their offense will still give u 3 to 5 yds/play or open it up a little..at wayne..haydock will get the speed eventually..wonder if he has the hogs..homestead won't lose many games..maybe 2 ..if that..losing goode not only hurts physically..mentally he had the juice..chargers bring back decker who has winning in his genes n Dinan has made that program a legit matchup nightmare every friday..still wish he n tippy could have stuck together..ive seen kids grow up in the Luers feeder programs..they're getting bigger..2a may not be able to handle them in a year or two..heck this year even..archers..eh..maybe next year..cadets n Bruins share a coaching tree now..both could/should be above. 500..both have athletes..every now n then we get a team that shakes up the conference..this could be the year.

Schools in Northeast Indiana continue to practice and are scheduled to play scrimmages on Saturday. Here is my early prediction for the SAC.
Tier 1
1) Dwenger will once again be one of the top teams in 5a. Enough to topple the mighty Vikings of Valpo? Maybe or maybe not, but good enough to win the very deep SAC. If defense wins championships, the Saints will conquer 2020.
2) Will the NHC newcomers run the table in 2019 and 2020? Homestead did it last year, Carroll has a chance this year. I think Carroll could be fielding their best team to ever take the gridiron. They may boast the best passing attack in all of Northern Indiana this fall. That's a bold statement, but it's possible.
3) Snider is young, but talented. They have some Division 1 studs with some major offers, including a young quarterback with D1 potential. If their supporting cast can step up to the standard that the Snider program has set over the past four decades, this team could sneak in an SAC title and a possible run to semi-state.
Tier 2
4) I think Homestead will have a pretty good team this year. Like I said in an earlier thread, they were my pick to represent 6A North this year before their quarterback decided to focus on basketball instead of football (a D1 talent in both sports). That being said, the Spartans drop to #4. Still enough talent to be dangerous, but I think the SAC is a three team race.
5) Concordia will have another solid year. They have to enough returning in my opinion to close the gap between them and Chatard in this year's semi-state. I don't see them taking the SAC, but they can beat any of the top 4 on any given night. Don't sleep on the Cadets, because if you do, you'll be ringing up a loss...............that includes you Chatard.
Tier 3
6) Northop seems to improve just a little bit each year. If that continues, I look for them to place somewhere between 4-6. This year, there is no shame in placing 6th in the SAC. And with all the talent roaming the Northrop halls, it won't surprise me WHEN they finally have a breakout year. Their coaching staff is solid.
7) I almost forgot about the Redskins of North Side. That's OK though, because as dangerous as they may be, I think the six I have ahead of them will be more dangerous. They have a D1 quarterback prospect to lead the way, but it remains to be seen if they have a supporting cast to compete with the upper echelon.
8 - The Luers contingent will have my head for this, but I still don't see them as the program they once were. And I just happen to like Concordia, Northrop, and North Side this year. So I have no qualms with placing them at #8. I hope they prove me wrong though. I'd love nothing more than to see them back to a prominent level.
9) Enter coach Sherwood Haydock. He's proves his worth with a state championship at Harding and a state championship appearance at Woodlan. He compares Wayne to Harding, only 3 times larger. If he's right, there will be a new kid on the block in the SAC. Actually, I'd be surprised to see them finish 9 in a 10 team conference. But I don't know how I can place a team that was 0-9 last year in the SAC any higher considering the depth of the conference.
Bottom
10) With marquee names like Lattimore and Norfleet suiting up in green, do the South Side Archers have something in store for the rest of the conference? Remains to be seen. Good luck to them.
The legends of northside may be a sleeper..heard their new dc(ex Luers guy) has some crazy schemes n may give snider fits in game 1 of the season. They're still Snider regardless of what anyone says. Sure they lost to Homestead last year. But they were 15-1 against them over the past two decades. Sure they've gone 2-2 against Carroll the past two seasons. I still remember recently in 2017 when Snider beat them 69-7 in a game that would have mercy ruled Carroll in the first half had that rule been in place. I'm not taking anything away from Homestead and Carroll, but lets stop this nonsense that Snider has fallen on hard times. Do people really think that much has changed at Snider since 2015 and 2017 when they were Top 5 programs regardless of class?
They also have an unexpected influx of talent transfer in..6'4 wr that plays sf in the winter..tippman always gets the best out of what the cupboard has to offer..should be interesting..

I think you’re confusing speed with agility.
The best have both. Some can get by with one. Others have even found a way to succeed with neither.
Have to chime in on this one..fast guys can str8 out fly..stop watches don't lie..put a linebacker on ur roster who runs a 4.4 n he will completely dominate ur stud rb who runs a 4.7..never was a fan of the term football speed. Most guys with a fast 40 will also have a blazing shuttle run..side to side north n south..fast is fast.

Regarding recruitment at the next level, there are always examples of 1A-3A standouts who get few if any looks by D1 or even decent D2 programs. My assumption is, yes he is a stud...a 1A (or 2A or 3A) stud. Is this a correct assumption? Of course there are certain players like Jack Kiser or guys who are physical specimens who get recruited but those situations don’t appear to be typical. Do mid-tier and higher D1 coaches focus most of their effort searching for talent in 6A programs?
Maybe years ago..during the 5 class era..now with so many camps..n the travel circuit.. kids can get that exposure.. many times coaches recruit size..not heart..they can mold the frame if the metrics are there..yet one of the goats ran a 5.2 40..i will also add imo if u go to a legit 1a-3a (luers😉) program coaches know where the talent pipeline flows..

Even new pal loses occasionally. 50% could be seen as dominant ..I get it..would success factor come into play? Tons of talent out there for programs that teeter between 5a/6a.

East Noble school system put out a post on social media where they obtained sponsors from the community to offer free tickets to students in an attempt to reach a fan advantage. I'm saying even with the sponsors hobart has more fans at the game. Nice try East Noble.
Idk who wins this game.. I've been to east noble games..they seem to sell out..im shocked they even have tickets available for semi state? Is there that much of a price jump? The games I attended I had to stand!

I thought the majority of us believed carmel was a favorite for our different reasons maybe..nonetheless the favorite..they will be favored against the pirates n rightfully so..battling the lion is the beauty of it..from Rudy to rocky..somebody gotta do it..their playoff record was quoted on air one game I watched..most yrs they win state by beating their mic counterpart which is (cough cough) considered the best conference in the state so even they have a hard time beating them..would one more game help decide this best team in the state debate? After the finals..1a vs 2a..3a vs 4a..5a vs 6a? Heck give em2 rings! 😁

All good for the BFS convo from the coach..maybe locker room first media second? Valpo lost to the hounds by 4 at semi state last yr n moved down to 5a..sounds about right..imo opinion valpo' s line is big across the board..larger than sniders I believe..im sure that can be fact checked..the vikings will be a formidable foe n the game is a toss up in my eyes..if any team could beat the saints during tourney time it would be the aforementioned program (6a ss loss). Traveling to their campus also will be in their favor.

I'm picking Valpo by 14 but I have never seen a Dwenger team that show a ton of heart and fight hard for every yard. I would never count out Dwenger. This is simply the best Valpo team ever loaded with size, talent and depth.
Better than the vaunted samardzija led teams?
