Not sure how they operate this year, but past seasons they primarily ran the ball and looked for a simple pass play when they lull you to sleep. I believe they still have the twins and they are speedsters. They had done quite a bit off tackle in 2016 and 2nd man through with Kiser. Probably similar with some changes.

    Those twins are dangerous..👀

Back down to 5A next season just in time for an uptick in talent. Doesn't make much sense, but nonetheless, they'll be a legitimate contender next year.

To be fair, Homestead wasn't exactly healthy themselves until week 3 or so if my memory serves me correctly.

Dwenger makes another semi state run in 5a they might be "ok" as a 5a program..taking nothing away from them n I think they're a threat in the north...as far as this game goes.. the cadets returned talent..the trojans are reloaded..should be a good one

Right now you can’t use ANY analytics.......Sagarin, MaxPreps/CalPreps, etc. because we have 2 closed conferences in Indiana (SAC and SIAC) and it takes a few weeks AFTER playoffs have already started to see just where those teams rank relative to the rest of the state.

The only alternative is to eliminate conferences (or, at least eliminate closed conferences....but you still need several non-conference games to get reliable numbers) and that isn’t happening.

7a in Indiana football equals more money for everyone right? 💵😁

My logic is that 1.5 is too weak, and 2.0 is too strong. Let's meet in the middle at 1.75. I don't see Dwenger playing at the 6a level. Would it make 6a North more interesting? Absolutely. Will Dwenger ever be crowned as state champions? I'm 95% certain the answer is "no."  Snider hasn't won the big class in almost three decades. If the Panthers can't beat schools three times their enrollment, then neither can the Saints. Those two programs have been on equal footing for years with a slight edge going to Snider.

If I were a dictator..................and I sincerely wish I was; I would throw out the idea of a multiplier even though I've been an advocate of it for years. My position has changed since I have no desire to see New Palestine win 4a every single year............unless we continue using the point system for the publics.

Realignment every four years instead of two using the current point system x 2.

Using Sagarin, I would place the the top sixteen programs during that four year period into 6a.

Divide the remaining five classes according to enrollments and points.

If we are being honest with ourselves, the 6a class is an even bigger problem than the dominance of the p/p's. Cut it in half............from 32 to 16..............problem solved.

Not sure the ihsaa would ever use sagarin..i mean..🤔

Nothing on IHSAA website other than what has been there for recent seasons....

Somewhat off topic, but remember that IHSAA is going away from the 1A/3A/5A day and a 2A/4A/6A day.  This year they are setting the finals to be more "geographically friendly"...

    https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/07/02/ihsaa-changes-football-state-finals-schedule-voting-eight-man-football-proposal/5368098002/

    FTA

"This year, as voted by the IHSAA executive committee, the state finals matchups, dates and times will not necessarily be played in its usual format. If matchups allow, schools from a similar geographical area may be grouped into consecutive games or at least on the same day. The schedule will now be announced following the semistate games."

This could have worked..this year is the worst for it if capacity is limited..

No.  They need to gain a total of 6 points to move up in the 2 year cycle.  They acquired 2 points last year in winning Sectional and Regional.  They would need to win State this year to acquire the 4 additional points needed to achieve 6.

They will be staying up in 5A since they have already acquired the 2 points minimally needed to stay “up”.

Thanks..i somehow 4got sectional n regional titles meant something to some people..mea culpa

I agree here. Reminds me of the talent difference the Tigers faced after playing Penn last year then Merrillville in Regionals.

Crazy stats from tonight. Warsaw ran 83 offensive plays (81 rushes) compared to Carroll’s 40 plays. Tigers had 27 first downs, 508 total rushing yards, and 3 rushers over 130+ yards.

Warsaw played a gr8 game. It's always fun to watch that type of offense..i can see how state titles have been won with it n think it still works today..most offenses resemble each other now a days..regional matchup will have two mirror images..

The rule change that essentially took districts away is why I think it’s less competitive now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a definite upgrade having Homestead and Carroll in the SAC. My gripe is when we see kids transferring schools every year with no penalty of sitting out depending on what team is gonna have the best roster. Back in the day you went to the school in your district or sat out a year.

Eh, people still had issues with students going to school A when growing up in feeder programs for school B..most athletes sat out due to their former school not releasing them..

If that’s the criteria, find a way to level the playing field before you start ranking the conferences. The SAC has members playing in 5 different classes. How many other conferences can say that? It certainly enhances their chances of having multiple tournament successes in a single season.

What would you suggest? Only conference champs are allowed to be considered when looking at total strength of the league? Not sure it would be possible. 5 possible titles for regionals is just how it's sliced..to say the sac is declining is a bit of a knee jerk reaction... Play in the class your assigned and advance is all you can do. I am wondering besides the 2 we all know about who else would be top 5 conference and why?

Let’s just go with 5 years, as you did. Apples to apples, after this year. Don’t move the goal posts. Then let’s talk.

Sustained success puts you in the conversation for "One of the top conferences in the state" one year proves what? We can speak as if they don't win another game..still wouldn't validate ur point..

  11. They had to attempt passes to keep them honest..run game looked good although all facets of the game must be solid for 6a ball..HHS exposed some weaknesses as good teams will do that to ya..kudos to the seniors who played their hearts out..sparty losing their rb may hurt later on..they reminded me of a school that got moved south this year..color scheme n all..

2008, 2009, and 2017 in 3 straight games against Carmel snider lost those 3 by a COMBINED 7 points. They ended up losing in 2018 by 14 to Carmel.

A good snider team can compete with Indy teams and has before. Homestead and Carroll have rarely fared well against them. I know Westfield is good but I don’t think they are like a Greyhound team that can physically grind you throughout the whole game with massive lines and depth and I don’t think some people on here understand that. The winner of this 6A sectional can and should compete against Westfield and make a game of it, possibly win.

As you mentioned above Homestead has improved since joining the SAC which makes perfect sense. I think they have the best chance against Westfield out of these teams, probably Snider next year. Carroll doesn’t have the type of game right now IMO to contend with the teams down there. Look no further than giving up 70 to Homestead.

The westfield team I've watched is a smaller version of a mic school..they have size speed n strength..every year we get on here talking about the area can compete with the only regional victories in the states largest class coming from snider since 98..correct me if I'm wrong..i would like to see an area team win..just my eyes will not allow me to type it..

Snider takes Carmel to the wire every single time. They were on the verge of blowing them out of the water in 18' before self-destructing. Penn took care of business the following week.

Homestead outplayed Carmel for a half last year without their best player. Sure, good teams figure it out in the end and that's what Carmel did. My point is this: Sectional 4 is FAR from invincible. The favorite? Yes. Is Westfield a darn good football team? Yes. But Homestead has amped up their level of play since joining the SAC, so don't be surprised if they give the Shamrocks a run...............if they get out of Sectional 3.

Snider had the benefit of younger players actually seeing a panthers victory while growing up..they had no fear..those teams that competed with them were powerhouse squads littered with D1 athletes.. i have not witnessed sparty make it out of regionals since 98..their team last year had a better shot..westfield isn't invincible..it might be mental challenge..i just don't see it happening due to the programs not being familiar with one another..i know some say it doesn't matter..

Homestead definitely has a chance to beat Westfield. I would have loved to see Goode come back, but Ormsby has settled into the QB role nicely. If they make it past Westfield I do like their chances of beating Elkhart, Penn, or Lafayette Jeff to advance to the finals. Unfortunately Center Grove will most likely await them from the South - if you haven't had a chance to watch them play I would highly recommend it.

I've seen Westfield play..if they meet in regionals it will be tough sledding..since the onset of 6a, the north semi state participant has not been from the area..programs thought they could beat carmel too..until they played carmel.. I will start believing once again after it actually happens..

So let me ask you this. Do you see organized sports as an arbitrary sideshow devoid of positive benefits in the development of our youth? I would definitely argue the contrary. Of course that depends on quality of coaches as well. Sports, and my coaches, definitely instilled in me qualities like courage, humility, work ethic, team work, sacrifice, how to respond to pressure or adversity, how to compete, determination, perseverance, mental toughness, physical toughness, and sportsmanship just to name a few. Now there are other potential avenues to gain these things, but in my own experience, I found sports to be a leading contributor. A coach can instill these values in a young person that may not have another support structure. If you have strong parents and athletics, you are almost sure to get these experiences. A kid without strong parents and athletics may never experience or learn these things. Of course the wrong coach or parents combined with athletics can teach the wrong things as well, but by and large, athletics teaches positive characteristics that will benefit most later in life. The more people that develop these qualities as a whole, the stronger our communities and country become as a whole. The fewer, the weaker.

If fewer adults or future parents are interested in viewing a sport the more likely their children are not going to participate at young ages and possibly not ever knowing they will not have the support of their parents.

The MLB, nfl, and nba will all be fine..billions of dollars are at stake n last time I checked billionaires don't take too kind to becoming millionaires 🤣..kids sway buying power n adults still love watching their kids play..ulimate goal of a talented athlete is to play at the highest level available..the love of sports will always prevail..as far as video games being the new rave..alot play sport games..i assume it woulda gave guys like me a shot at playing..yet I'm justasportsfan
