My point is, in a school with 1800-2000 boys you have to go to the neighbor to borrow a QB?  Come on.  That’s pathetic.

Kids transferring OUT of schools that size so they can get some PT at a smaller school is one thing…this is something different and a bit head scratching.

I do agree with your last paragraph while heartedly.

Kids have no loyalty anymore.  There are kids on their 4th basketball team in as many years these days in Indiana.  The IHSAA is all over the place as well with these transfers and that’s truly what is pathetic.

The MIC/HCC debate is dead.  It’s not even close and while the HCC does need a title to validate itself completely, you can’t let Center Grove still standing cloud your vision.

That’d be like bragging that your ex husband is great at his job.

Heard the same about Warren/BD all offseason last summer and they both relied on transfer QBs to remain in the hunt.

You can say the same about a number of schools when it comes to transfers.

There’s no denying, the HCC is a better football conference now than the MIC.  I would say the MIC will be a very strong basketball conference moving forward.  The HCC will obviously eventually have a state champion, but I’m not sure they’ll ever see the dominance of the MIC days.

Damn, its down to 30 minutes now?  No one is safe.

I’m certain there is truth to this article, it does happen.  Any smart football coach though will have his team to the visiting location early enough to get out on the field WELL before official warmup to wake back up.  Add in official warm up and the juice of the crowd at game time and it’s a moot point.

Factual article but with zero human element added in to get ready for the game.  It’s not as if you’re getting off the bus and playing a game 30 minutes later.

No one knows until all of the transfer portal nonsense is official.

Cathedral, though they have the number one recruit in the country lost their most valuable player last year in Comer.

He will be hard to replace.

BD didn’t lose anyone from last years team.

That team, btw, beat Cathedral once last year.  Cathedral obviously won the other meeting.

Upon joining these boards about a half decade ago, I claimed the MIC was on borrowed time and that the HCC would be the superior conference in the future.

Many users were in denial, some were on board and questioned when.

Well, I am here to declare that on this 29th day of October in the year 2022, it is official.

    The torch has been passed.

Even while still allowing the MIC to claim Carmel and Center Grove (and once again let’s not kid ourselves and go down that rabbit hole), the HCC put the icing and the cherry on top with last night’s sectional performances.

For the season, the HCC was 10-3 against the MIC with Avon suffering two and Franklin Central suffering one of the losses.

But can they do it in the playoffs?

    Yes.

Brownsburg 48-20 on the road over MIC “champion” Ben Davis.

Westfield 28-9 on the road over Carmel.

Center Grove went into a mid pack HCC squad in Franklin Central and barely escaped 14-10.

Avon went on the road and defeated Pike.

The HCC has 6 teams left, the MIC 3.

Still more chances too as three MIC teams are left on Brownsburg’s side of the bracket and an HCC team could come out of the north.

    Mic drop…pun intended.

Definitely hear what you’re saying long term, though I’d say Ben Davis is probably the 2023 basketball favorite (obviously different sport) and dare I say that BD will probably open as the favorite in football in 2023?

Carmel and CG no longer being in the conference makes it much more challenging as annual title contenders were cut in half.

I’m guilty myself (pot calling the kettle black), but it’s sad Indianapolis has, for lack of a better term, been abandoned.

Warren Central went to St. Louis and got its butt handed to it 52-25 tonight. The Warriors head into the bye week with a 4-5 regular season record. I called them finishing that way

Hopefully they were able to learn a lot and get better instead of just getting it handed to them.

I’m sure they’ll continue to figure it out.

CG/Carmel will be better off in the long term than the MIC 6…it just may take a bit of time.

More pressing to me?  Who is the MIC replacing them with?

It’s actually benefitting Carmel already because in a couple of years they’ll play 6 home games in the regular season (I’m 90% positive) which means for a larger gate and means they can pay teams to come to Carmel who provide the right competition, while maintaining teams such as CG and BD.

The athletic staff remains very good friends with many MIC administrators and teachers, but the Carmel team knew that going to the HCC would benefit their students much more in the long run. What (imo) they didn’t realize is that by being independent, it benefitted them way more than conference affiliation. I predict Carmel will not be affiliation with a conference any time in the next decade, at minimum.

Maybe you’re correct. I doubt the same MIC teams that are tired of getting beat by CG and Carmel are going to add Cathedral to there schedule though.

Nobody wants bye weeks in there already short seasons. Hopefully all 3 can get 9 games scheduled for next season without playing anyone twice.

North Central is replacing CG with Cathedral beginning in 2023 and Ben Davis is adding Cathedral starting in 2025, according to their websites.

In other news, dozens involved in a post game brawl in the parking lot following last night’s LN/WC game…

    Embarrassing.

Soon we are likely heading for two tickets per player and everyone else has to pay for the live stream.

It is embarrassing and it’s sad for the people who do it the right way.  Indianapolis has some serious issues.  I can’t even.

  10. Ben Davis probably could’ve and should’ve beaten Carmel last night.  Outplayed them most of the night, but if if’s and but’s were candies and nuts, it’s be Christmas all year round.

Simmons with BD has to be disappointed, 4-3 could easily be 6-1 and maybe 7-0.  Better figure out the mistakes before tournament starts.

    Anything after 5 doesn't matter

This really shows a lot of ignorance.  Anyone in the top 7 of 6A could win this year.  Roncalli wont win 4A in my opinion, let alone be top 5 in the state.  Carmel has not played like a top 5 team yet this season though they’re not far off.  Finally, HSE is undefeated and BD lost to CG by 1, yet they don’t matter.  Both might very well be in the State Finals.

I’m attending Carmel/North Central on Friday as my son is an alumnus. I look for this to be a running clock. Carmel 45-7

Center Grove 38 Lawrence Central 21

Ben Davis 42 Lawrence North 17

     Pike 21 Warren Central 17

I don’t expect the last one but I might as well have some fun.

Warren Central getting a higher vote total than Lawrence Central is absurd.  Do results on the field matter or do they not?

I would put Ben Davis at #3 in 6A.  Their two losses were to the top two teams by the slimmest of margins.  A Brownsburg DB getting his fingertips on the ball on 4th down prevented Ben Davis from catching the game-winning TD.

    Agree on both ends
