Center Grove did carry the water for the top conference in Indiana and one of the best in the Midwest. I'm sure they'll take it.

Fixed it for you.  They were 4 scores better than everybody not named Lawrence North this year...

Funny though, the MIC still won 4 sectionals and 2 regionals.  Thought the HCC was going to take over as top dog last year?

Just 3 years ago Ben Davis did the same against everyone and just 2 years ago Warren Central did the same against everyone.  Since that doesn’t fit your narrative though, no need to recognize it, right?

The way you act on this forum says you’re either 14 years old and still trying to mature or you’re mid 40’s and never matured.  Either way, you get my point.

  2. I like Center Grove in this game, but this has the potential to be a much closer game than most believe

    - J'Uan Swanson has been a breath of fresh air for the Giants.  He has a quick release and has speedy receivers.  If Swanson is given time to throw and can make the passes, BD will be able to put some points on the board.  The biggest issue in this game is I don't see BD being able to do much in the running game, but BD can't abandon the run, otherwise the CG defense will eat them alive.

    - CG offense is going to be challenged against a much improved defense and, if the CG passing game can't get yardage, then I believe this has the makings of a 21-17 type of game.

That said, if BD can't capitalize on CG's very few weaknesses, then this game winds up 56-21 real fast.  Congrats to both teams on their Regional Championship victories!

What was the Covid situation for Carmel?  I could be mistaken but it looked like some starters were missing?

They had some injuries, but no one out due to COVID.

    Yes, definitely sarcastic.

I agree, just throwing out some sarcasm

I’d also go with the Hounds. The Brownsburg score of 21-7 is deceiving. It was never that close. Carmel is poised to win the regional and seek revenge on the trouncing CG gave them in week 2.

    Carmel 35

    Ben Davis 14

I’m not sure how this was deceiving as Brownsburg had 7 turnovers.

Carmel starting QB is out for this one as well.  Ben Davis is a different team than early and mid-season.

Should be a dandy of a game.

Irish defense is peaking at the absolute perfect time.

Both teams won at home on Friday - so since Cathedral is raked higher do they keep home-field advantage (Arlington) next two games before State?  I asked several people after the game Friday and no one had the same answer.

If Cathedral wins, they’ll be on the road at Jeffersonville or Castle the following week

Warren Central wins Sectional 7!!! The Warriors are Regional bound after defeating Lawrence North 21-7.

This.  Right.  Here.  is why you don't count out Ben Davis or Warren Central in the tournament.  Warren, in back-to-back weeks, defeats two of the best teams in Indiana, just after everyone, or most everyone, had written them off.  Now, WC is in the Regional, along with Ben Davis.

In other news, it's once again a disappointing tournament for the HCC.  1 guaranteed champion in 6A, and that's all they managed.

  7. 1.) Center Grove 7-0:  No surprise here as we thought this would be par for the course in 2020 for the Trojans.

2.) Carmel 6-1:  Much improved team from early season and they're my pick to come out of Sectional 5.

3.) Ben Davis, Lawrence North, North Central 4-3:  BD still manages a way to be in the top half of the conference with a big win over NC tonight.  LN finishes in the top half for the first time since 2005 when they places 2nd in conference.  Great job by the Cats.  NC goes 6-3 in the regular season and will certainly be in the thick to win Sectional 7.

6.) Warren Central 2-5:  Rough go around for the Warriors, but they've got better days ahead.

7.) Pike 1-6:  Pike is much improved but still can't hang with the best the conference has to offer.  2-0 against the HCC.

8.) Lawrence Central 0-7:  It's been a LONG, ROUGH season for the Bears.

CG, Carmel, BD, LN win sectionals guaranteeing a MIC team in the south at LOS.  CG the clear favorite, though it's always harder to beat a team 2nd time around and LN/BD/Carmel will be extremely prepared.

Good luck to all teams in the tournament!

Ben Davis 35  North Central 7  HALF

The most surprising score of the night so far. Ben Davis making a statement before the tourney

Ben Davis has been slowly getting better this season and I said they’ll make some noise.  Just didn’t expect them to be up 28 on North Central, a team that is 6-2 overall.  Thought they could win though, so now they have to finish.

One of the seniors that graduated in 2018 rode his bike 6 miles one way to practice every single day during the summer his jr and sr year, never missed a single summer practice or weight lifting session while working his jr and senior year. He bought his own vehicle...paid for his cell phone, insurance and gas...had an absolutely terrible home life, his father is currently in michigan city, living there not because he wants to...if you catch my drift. He was a manager in basketball and played JV baseball too. He rarely played.  He's a character kid... The sports teams have him a sense of family that he was missing.

The boy that joined the military played JV as a jr and a sr. He started the two sectional games winamac had that year due to injury. Him and the kid above coming out their senior year ALLOWED winamac to have a junior varsity team.. so honestly their selflessness allowed underclassmen to get reps. He also got accepted into purdue, ball state and so on. He chose to join the military cause that was his dream due to having other relatives In it + the free college.

The 3rd kid never missed a single morning basketball work out or practice in his 4 years, is an outstanding young man. He came out his senior year to help with numbers and helped winamac have atleast 2 jv games last year.

This website is to promote high school kids. You routinely do not .. your dumb contraction posts, you insulting kids by saying they have no pride. You are a grown a** man. Do you not have any pride in yourself? Cause if you did. You wouldn't spend 75 percent of the time insulting kids on here.

    ALL.  OF.  THIS.

It’s to the point myself and a number of others are about to leave this forum.  DT only has interest in programs with money and his own, insulting thoughts.  He has absolutely destroyed this forum.

And if they don’t have the talent to play have them as managers or student coaches. Nothing wrong with that. You don’t see kids with 2.2 gpa on the science Olympiad. Kids that can’t sing in choir. And the list goes on.

Actually they do, kids don’t sit on the bench in choir or band.  Kids need opportunity.  I’m sorry, as an educator, I will disagree with you ALL. DAY.  LONG.

Not going to read all response but Jv is for underdeveloped freshman and sophomore. Seniors have no business playing JV

You’re right it is for underdeveloped players, but again, we’re about developing student athletes for life and giving them outlets to escape from the real world.  In some school districts, home life might be a disaster and football (or any extra-curricular activity) could be what keeps them from being on the streets or in an abusive home situation.  It’s not our place to tell that kid they can’t play the sport they love and to “go join show choir.”  Thankfully DT isn’t a Coach, otherwise we’d only have 280 schools playing, and if you suck for too long, you’re gone.

High school is the last opportunity for these young adults to enjoy organized sports, and if they want to play JV, then are you kidding me that we should deny them that opportunity?  Get out of here with that nonsense!

Never in my world, but I get it, most people on this board have lived a privileged life and I’m not mad at you, whereas I’ve coached kids living in their parents car in the past.  They NEED US!!!  They NEED ACTIVITIES!!!

Have you seen how hard show choir kids work?

You enjoy throwing kids under the bus to advance your own agenda of edginess on the GID page.

I absolutely don’t like anything about this guy.  Constantly thinks he’s better than everyone else, talks down to people.  I truly can’t say what I want to say on this board, but if you can imagine it, I’m thinking it.

Michigan City likely feels they have a team that can compete for  a 5A state title.

Lets say theu travel down to Warren and come back and a huge Covid outbreak hits the team.

    End of season.

    I agree with oldunclemark

Im not sure I would trust Warren to follow all the proper protocols anyway.

This is seriously the biggest slap in the face to Warren administration.  You’re truly the biggest piece of crap on this board.

When CG AD Jon Zwitt hired Eric Moore to take over the Trojan football program just over 20 years ago, the goal was simple.

Clear the Carmel-Warren-Ben Davis hurdle and take our program to the top of The MIC.

    20 years later, mission accomplished.

CGs 28-13 win tonight over a game Lawrence North squad gives CG its first 7-0 outright MIC title.   Over the past 5 years, the Trojan machine has slowly and methodically passed all 3 of its top conference rivals, and now stands head and shoulders above the league with possibly the most talented high school football team in state history.  Moore doesnt have to do anything else from here on out.  He has achieved the goal, met all the marks, taken down all the demons, and created a program that is the envy of school districts throughout the state, and the midweat as well.

But it wont stop here. CG will play Cathedral in an Indiana showcase event next Friday that will feature thje states top two teams, and top two programs.  Center Grove is the standard bearer for public school football, while Cathedral holds that title amongst its PP brethren.  Another state tourney awaits Moore team, where his Trojans will be the heavy favorite to win his 4th title at the school.  And next year?  Center Grove, loaded with talented underclassmen, is the odds on favorite at this early juncture to repeat.

Nontheless, Coach Moore has reached the pinnacle.  If you dominate The MIC, you dominate the state.  They are one and the same.  Moore's 20 year run has reached its zenith.  Its all gravy from here on out.

    DT

If you weren’t so worried about contraction you might know that this isn’t the first time CG has gone 7-0 in the MIC.

They went undefeated in 2015 on their way to a state title.  Then they went 6-6 the year after.
