A lot will change between now and then with the Middle School teams.  I will use Eastbrook as an example as it seems that the Middle School teams are almost always terrible but then when they get to the high school they are top notch.  I saw Frankton Middle School teams play the other night and I will say yes they have talent but at the same time they have kids playing positions that in high school they won't play.  The 8th grade team had the biggest kid on the team playing running back.  He was bigger than the coach's of both teams.  Yes he could run and had speed but with his size it is doubtful he will play running back and middle linebacker in high school.  He was built more like a tight end and is bigger than several high school tight ends.  The 7th grade team has some big kids but they lacked height.  They also had a talented running back.  There is a future for Frankton but still a few years out from being up at the top of the CIC and battling with Eastbrook and Mississinewa for the title.

Eastbrook isn’t as concerned about winning in Jr. High as much as they are in teaching fundamentals, terminology, assignments, and the right attitude.  Sure, kids change in size and abilities, but they all know the system and have the mindset to put the team ahead of the individual.  That’s a big factor in their success!

Here is this week's list with the state rank of SOS:

    1)  Fort Wayne Luers - 33

    2)  Mater Dei - 62

    3)  Speedway - 88

    4)  Monrovia - 98

    5)  Cascade - 99

    6)  Providence - 103

    7)  Rensy Central - 106

    8  Shenandoah - 113

    9)  Eastern Pekin - 115

    10)  Woodlan - 116

    11)  Winchester - 124

    12)  Lewis Cass - 125

    13)  Linton - 129

    14)  Triton Central - 138

    15)  Scecina - 144

You have to know that a list like this, without Eastbrook, is a complete falsehood!  Eastbrook would beat every team on this list.  It’s the same thing every year.  Blah, blah, blah.

I don't think so. There are plenty of arguments for not playing the most difficult SoS, such as if you have relatively small roster, you want your best players to rest/not risk injury as much. I've seen it first-hand and have concluded at 3A and below SoS means little if anything, when you have players well-coached and capable athletically of getting you through the tournament. Philosophies may differ, but Monday-Tuesday practice was almost always more physically demanding than any game I played in -- same for mental toughness (mistakes) from two-a-days until Weeks 14 and 15.

ETA: To clarify 3A and below, that is assuming programs have larger rosters in 4A and above. I know there are always exceptions, but generally that holds true and roster size hasn't prevented success in the lower classes. Your best athlete getting injured because they have to play four quarters, two-ways (or more) can prevent success.

You act as if teams have a total choice as to the strength of their schedule.  It’s pretty much dictated by the conference that you play in.  I just think that there is too much emphasis on the SOS when determining rankings.  Every year there seems to be a number of teams ranked ahead of Eastbrook in the north and then Eastbrook beats said teams in the tournament.  I’m sure it will be the same case this season.

A backup kid scoring a 1 yard TD with a minute to go in a 2 score game is not lack of class in my opinion but if that’s your opinion so be it. Also Tipton was missing as many or more starters last night than LCC. LCC was missing mostly freshman and a couple sophomores.

Totally should’ve took a knee!  Doesn’t surprise me at all!

Eastbrook has only played Delta twice.  Last year the Panthers got shellacked.  However, Delta took it on the chin in 2018.  To say Delta has destroyed Eastbrook in the past makes it sound like they've beaten up on us numerous times.  We are 1-1 against a good 4A team and Friday will be the rub match.  The Sagarin ratings have it dead even.  Eastbrook might be a 1 point favorite because of home field advantage but it should be a good game.

The only team that has been destroyed in the past is Mississinewa by Eastbrook!!  The Indians will be lucky to finish second in the conference this year.
