  1. I had gotten the inside scoop Cory Stevens was leaving Jennings County in mid-May. Didn’t want to say anything until it was official. It’s such an unfortunate situation. He really helped make things better here. Hopefully the new AD (former boys basketball coach, Joe Hartwell, can continue it or take it to the next level). I’m always hesitant when a local gets these positions because they always fall into the “good ole boys club” political mentality but I’ll give Joe the benefit of the doubt and be hopeful.
  2. Yeah I had heard about that too but didn’t look into it to see what the ramifications were. I had no idea the athletic trainers came from them anyway.
  3. My understanding is that he was already talking to IU and other Big Ten schools prior to transferring to Columbus North.
  4. Yeah they had funding issues that were only exacerbated by a decline in student population.
  5. Sounds like the move to the Sagamore Conference will be short-lived. It’s already a stretch for Danville and Lebanon to be joined by McCutcheon and Harrison who are around the 2,000 student mark (give or take). Now you’re adding two Terre Haute schools at roughly 1,500 students each that will eventually consolidate to form a 3,000+ student mega school. Could this land Terre Haute back in the MIC? Other than that, I could only see an HCC affiliation in the event they were to lose a member. Otherwise, independence it is.
  6. Do you know why he specifically wanted that tape?
  7. Dang. The coaching turnover these days is crazy. ADs are going to need a raise for all the interviews and resume reviews they have to do now.
  8. Man. It’s depressing reading this about BNL. I just want everyone to do well in all sports in this conference but it feels like we all get in our own way of success.
  9. Dang. Feels like I’ve seen a lot of stories of high school football players dying over the last few years. Any death sucks, especially when it’s someone that should have a long life ahead of them. Hopefully the team can make a positive out of it and rally around him for a successful season.
  10. Ironically, whenever Columbus East has been in 5A and 5A has exceeded 32 teams, Columbus East always gets put in a five-team sectional. Happened in the 2015/2016 cycle and in the 2017/2018 cycle. All four of those years we ended up not getting a bye. We’ll see if that impossible streak continues this fall.
  11. Good catch. I missed that when I looked at their tournament history. Looked it over twice so I’m not sure how I missed it. Then again, my wife is never surprised when I can’t find stuff right in front of me in the refrigerator.
  12. I’m guessing the IHSAA wanted to make as few changes as possible since we’re in the middle of the two-year enrollment classification period. In my opinion, we shouldn’t be increasing 5A and 6A above 32 teams until 1A through 4A are all at 64 teams each. However, that would require extra work for the IHSAA. My question is, if Cathedral had gotten the 3 points needed to remain in 6A then would 6A have gone above 32 teams for the first time ever? I assume it would’ve.
  13. They went back and forth from the late 70s through the early 90s. Other than the 2011-2012 cycle, they haven’t been in the south since 1994.
  14. Carmel and Westfield have been in the same sectional since Westfield moved up to 6A in 2017.
  15. The yard of bricks on the midfield line is my favorite part about this. Such a great detail to add to make them unique.
  16. Yeah I’m aware of the histories of the schools before Conference Indiana but Conference Indiana itself doesn’t have much history. It was a pretty solid conference at one time but that’s an about it. Reminds me of Conference USA (due to all the parallels) which I assume was the inspiration for its name.
  17. Feels strange seeing this happen to BNL. From the student population to this, when did the drop-off begin?
  18. I know you do. Never doubted that.
  19. Even if Northview wanted to join Conference Indiana, I’m not sure those schools would want them. Maybe Southport would be fine with it but, from a competitive standpoint, I’m not sure Bloomington South and Columbus North would oblige.
  20. Based on what I was told by my contacts, I agree with you that this isn’t true. And I’ve got some good contacts.
  21. I’m curious what you would like to see with Bloomington South going forward.
  22. Yeah but I feel like he would understand the writing was on the wall at this point. A lot has changed in 50 years.
