  2. I really don’t get this world. It shouldn’t be that hard to be kind, respectful, and get along with others. Too many idiots out there that ruin things for no reason.
  3. Was that the kid from Corydon Central?
  4. Floyd Central 55 New Albany 0 Final Jeffersonville 42 Jennings County 13 Final Bloomington South 42 Seymour 6 Final
  5. Week 9 Picks Columbus East (5-3, 5-0 HHC) at BNL (1-7, 1-4 HHC): The Olympians can clinch the outright HHC championship tonight with a win or a Floyd Central loss. The Stars have won two straight in the series and will be looking to win three in a row for the first time since the late 90s. Won’t happen though. East leads the all-time series 40-13. Jeffersonville (5-3, 3-2 HHC) at Jennings County (0-8, 0-5 HHC): The Red Devils get to follow up a disappointing performance at Columbus East with a get-right game at Jennings County. This should get ugly quick as the Panthers still haven’t scored a TD against a starting defense since week 3. Will they score a point tonight? They haven’t done so in three weeks. Jeff leads the all-time series 30-7 but Jennings County has won the last two games by a point each. New Albany (3-5, 2-3 HHC) at Floyd Central (5-2, 4-1 HHC): Just like with the other two conference games tonight, this Floyd County rivalry will likely also be a dud. The Bulldogs have lost four in a row while the Highlanders will be motivated to keep their minuscule HHC title hopes alive. It may not be a 47-0 shutout like last year, but I still think Floyd Central will provide them with a beatdown. They’ve won two straight in the series and lead it 31-25 overall. Bloomington South (4-4) at Seymour (4-4): It’s a down year for the Panthers due to all of their graduation losses but their four L’s have all come against ranked competition. They’ve lost their last two games and play an Owls team that has won its last two games. Nevertheless, I doubt this is close. Bloomington South has a great running back and possesses the size and speed at the other positions to make this a long senior night for Seymour. South leads the all-time series 13-6 and has won the last five games (none of which have been close). Seymour hasn’t won since 1990.
  6. Yeah the only way a conference would work well for the Terre Haute schools is if they were joined by the Bloomington schools, Plainfield, Decatur Central, Mooresville, and Martinsville. That would be a decent little conference but I don’t think those four Mid-State schools would be clamoring for that. Three years ago, the Vigo County School Corporation had eight options on the table as to how they wanted to handle the high school situation. The buildings were old and outdated (including West Vigo) so they were trying to come up with efficient, cost-effective ways to address it. Renovations, consolidations, demolishing/rebuilding the schools, and the addition of a fourth high school were discussed. If a fourth high school was decided upon then they would then have to decide whether West Vigo would be affected or not. As it stands, here are the student populations: Terre Haute South - 1,609 Terre Haute North - 1,467 West Vigo - 518 If you add a third Terre Haute school and exclude West Vigo then you have 3,076 students to split among three schools. This gives you around 1,025 students per school if you split things evenly. If you add a third Terre Haute school and include West Vigo then you have 3,594 students to split among four schools. This gives you around 900 students per school if you split things evenly. Splitting the two Terre Haute schools among three schools is probably too big for the smaller schools in the Western Indiana Conference since they’d have just over 1,000 students each. However, they could form a new conference by stealing Northview and Edgewood from the WIC who have over 800 students each. Maybe Danville could be the sixth school. Or if the three Vigo County schools were split among four schools then, at around 900 students each, they could fit into the WIC. Never heard what the school corporation decided to do. Might have tabled it for a later date or might have decided to renovate. Regardless, you are correct. As things stand, the Terre Haute schools are isolated.
  7. Maybe so but would the Mid-Southern Conference always like it? You don’t have to go back very many years in this state to find several instances of conferences booting out members because they got too big for them.
  8. Based on conversations I’ve had, Bloomington South has no interest in the HHC. Like Columbus North, they see the conference as beneath them. They would aim for the Mid-State. Bloomington North, on the other hand, would like to go to the Mid-State (they tried a few years ago), but they also have considered returning to the HHC. I believe they’re keeping that option open in the event they have to save themselves should Conference Indiana finally fall apart. If I’m the HHC, I don’t see a need to expand. We can make do with 7 like we are right now and, if Jennings County were to leave, I believe we could also make do with 6. Nevertheless, if Bloomington North ever comes knocking on the door, I think you have to take them. But, if not, I think we should just sit at 6 or 7 until Silver Creek and Charlestown grow big enough to get an invite.
  9. Decatur Central, Perry Meridian, and Southport could be candidates for the MIC. If that were to happen then it opens up 2-3 spots in the Mid-State (with Greenwood also leaving). You’d have to think Columbus North and the Bloomington schools get looked at. Heck, maybe even Southport gets looked at if they don’t go to the MIC. This would effectively end Conference Indiana. Then you have the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Shelbyville is leaving and Delta has been wanting out for awhile but hasn’t had any offers to go elsewhere. I’ve also heard New Castle has flirted with the idea of leaving. Maybe the Hoosier Heritage could pull in Richmond. Maybe they aim for Connersville. If it’s the latter then that opens the door for EIAC expansion. Jennings County has wanted in for awhile. Would this provide them the opportunity? These are all hypotheticals but I have to think something is going to happen at some point that affects the HHC. Over the last 10-15 years, a lot of conferences have dealt with population changes in which their schools are getting further apart. The shrinking schools can’t keep up with the growing schools. This has led to many schools wanting to make changes but they’re waiting on the domino effect of other schools making moves first so that it opens the door for them. The creation of two brand new conferences (Hoosier Legends Conference and Monon Athletic Conference) has kickstarted this new wave of realignment and I think it’ll eventually have ripple effects that are felt in the HHC as well.
  10. Well Shelbyville just voted to leave the Hoosier Heritage Conference and join the brand new Hoosier Legends Conference. That opens up a spot in the Hoosier Heritage. No official word on Greenwood yet but they’re expected to join Shelbyville which would open a spot in the Mid-State Conference. The MIC still has two open spots with Carmel and Center Grove gone. If those three conferences decide to fill some spots then it’ll be interesting to see if the Hoosier Hills Conference becomes part of the domino effect. Something to keep an eye or two on.
  11. Week 9 Schedule Columbus East (5-3, 5-0 HHC) at BNL (1-7, 1-4 HHC) Jeffersonville (5-3, 3-2 HHC) at Jennings County (0-8, 0-5 HHC) New Albany (3-5, 2-3 HHC) at Floyd Central (5-2, 4-1 HHC) Bloomington South (4-4) at Seymour (4-4)
  12. HHC Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 8): @SPARKS 34/37 @LC_Bears_04 33/37 @boilerfan87 32/37 @Frozen Tundra 32/37 @gonzoron 31/37 @Bulldog15 30/37 @Uncle Bubba 30/37 @mamasa 29/37 @Bluejacket1 28/33 (.848) @Fkfootball 24/29 (.828) @Impartial_Observer 27/33 (.818) @Owls2005 21/29 (.724) Apologies for the delay. Took a short family trip last weekend and it delayed my schedule a bit in getting this posted at my normal time.
  13. I’m not sure. I’ve tried looking for that info but haven’t had any luck.
  14. Week 8 Picks Floyd Central (4-2, 3-1 HHC) at Jennings County (0-7, 0-4 HHC): Not much to say here. The Panthers haven’t scored a touchdown against a varsity defense in five weeks. The Highlanders are still in the running for a second straight HHC title, although they need some help. Should be a quick one in North Vernon as Floyd Central runs them over. The Highlanders lead the all-time series 42-8 and have won 7 of the last 8 and 24 of the last 26. Jeffersonville (5-2, 3-1 HHC) at Columbus East (4-3, 4-0 HHC): The Olympians are one win away from clinching at least a share of their first HHC title in the post-Gaddis era. The Red Devils need this win to keep their HHC title hopes alive. Their last conference championship was in 1997. While a Jeff upset win wouldn’t shock me, I’m going off how these teams have done against common opponents. East had better win margins against Seymour and New Albany and, unlike Jeffersonville, they defeated Floyd Central. Columbus East leads the all-time series 32-11 and has won the last 20 games. Seymour (3-4, 2-3 HHC) at New Albany (3-4, 2-2 HHC): Once again, I’m basing my prediction on results against common opponents. Both teams beat BNL and Jennings County and both teams lost to Jeff and Columbus East. In all four games, the margins were better for the Owls. I wouldn’t necessarily rule out a Bulldogs upset, but the numbers favor Seymour so that’s who I’m taking. Due to the age of these two schools, and the incomplete info as a result, Almanac Sports has New Albany leading the all-time series 28-14. Seymour has won the last two games though. BNL (1-6) at Madison (3-4): This is the final time the Stars and Cubs will meet on the gridiron, leaving rival Jennings County as the only remaining HHC team on Madison’s schedule. While a BNL win seems possible, Madison has improved and, on paper, has been the better team this year. Therefore, I’m going with Madison. BNL leads the all-time series 31-5 and has won 3 of the last 4.
  15. @sbriant20 Not sure if you know about this. Looks like you’re replacing Covenant Christian with BNL.
  16. Interesting article here. Looks like this will be the final game in the series between BNL and Madison. BNL will be replacing them with Monrovia starting next year. https://www.wbiw.com/2024/10/09/bnl-to-close-historic-series-with-final-journey-to-madison/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3vyql-qH9ZoHJonJp0G62k_6D_cwCBmP73e6qEm2Qo3F3gbudiAMhh1uc_aem_YUAfrbNE7UsCsDtpIJDOLw#google_vignette
  17. Week 8 Schedule Floyd Central (4-2, 3-1 HHC) at Jennings County (0-7, 0-4 HHC) Jeffersonville (5-2, 3-1 HHC) at Columbus East (4-3, 4-0 HHC) Seymour (3-4, 2-3 HHC) at New Albany (3-4, 2-2 HHC) BNL (1-6) at Madison (3-4)
  18. Probably can’t complete those either. Just kidding. That was only me in high school. 😞

  24. Franklin Central 9, Fishers 7 Half Tigers will receive 2nd half kickoff
  25. Fishers had turned it over on downs at the Franklin Central 27 but a roughing the passer kept the drive alive and they took advantage with a 6 yard TD run. Franklin Central 9, Fishers 7 2:04 left in the half
