  1. I would hope they would already know you guys are an option. If they do, I hope it’s not a case of you guys being a 2A school. Nevertheless, I’ll let him know.
  2. You’d think every HHC school would have a freshman team. I was told by one of the East coaches that it has become a problem the last 3-4 years. Since only Floyd Central and Jeff have freshman teams, they’ve had to find opponents themselves for the weeks varsity was playing an HHC team that didn’t have a freshman team.
  3. I’m intrigued by our freshman team at Bloomington South - W, 41-0 Columbus North - W, 34-22 at Martinsville - W, 26-24 Silver Creek - W, 35-0 We’ll see how it goes down the stretch. Lawrence North Floyd Central at Bloomington North at Jeffersonville at South Dearborn Crazy to think only Columbus East, Floyd Central, and Jeffersonville have freshman teams. I would’ve thought a school as big as New Albany would have one.
  4. Amending my projections after four weeks of the season. 1. Floyd Central 2. Columbus East 3. Jeffersonville 4. Seymour 5. New Albany 6. BNL 7. Jennings County
  5. Just looked into it. Bloomington was one of the ten founding members of the SIAC back in 1935 (along with Bicknell, Evansville Bosse, Evansville Central, Evansville Reitz, Linton-Stockton, New Albany, Princeton, Sullivan, and Vincennes-Lincoln). Bloomington left the conference in the summer of 1964. Looks like the conference membership peaked right before Bloomington left. The 1963 standings show 20 teams: Bedford, Bloomington, Boonville, Evansville Bosse, Evansville Central, Evansville Harrison, Evansville Mater Dei, Evansville Memorial, Evansville North, Evansville Rex Mundi, Evansville Reitz, Huntingburg, Jasper, Mount Vernon (Posey), New Albany, North Knox, Princeton, Tell City, Vincennes-Lincoln, and Washington.
  6. HHC Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 4): @SPARKS 18/20 @LC_Bears_04 17/20 @boilerfan87 16/20 @Bulldog15 16/20 @Fkfootball 16/20 @Frozen Tundra 16/20 @Bluejacket1 15/20 @gonzoron 15/20 @Owls2005 15/20 @Uncle Bubba 15/20 @mamasa 14/20 @Impartial_Observer 13/16
  7. I’ve never been a fan of conferences being so big that you couldn’t play everyone. So from my outsider perspective, I hated when you guys had ten teams. In a perfect world, Conference Indiana would have eight teams and it would’ve been Pike and Lawrence Central that left instead of Martinsville and Decatur Central. Geographically, it was perfect and it would be very competitive.
  8. I’ve been meaning to ask you guys what your favorite incarnation of Conference Indiana is/was. -The ten team league where you only played seven of the nine opponents. -The eight team league after the exits of Decatur Central and Martinsville. -The eight team league after the exits of Pike and Lawrence Central and the additions of the Terre Haute schools. -The current six team conference where you’re able to have a scheduling alliance with the Circle City Conference.
  9. Yeah closed schools count as well as schools that no longer sponsor football
  10. Floyd Central 50 Seymour 29 Final
  11. Jeffersonville 30 Louisville Fern Creek 27 Final
  12. New Albany 22 BNL 12 Final
  13. Columbus East 62 Jennings County 7 Final Glad they woke up. I was getting concerned.
  14. New Albany 13 BNL 12 Halftime Jeffersonville 17 Fern Creek 14 Halftime
  15. Columbus East 42 Jennings County 0 Halftime This might be the worst Jennings County team I’ve ever seen.
  16. Me, a straight-edge person, Googling a Zima because I have no idea what it is 😂
  17. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like for the players, students, and fans whose school closed. I have a ton of school spirit. If one day I woke up and Columbus East closed, it’d be hard to find it again with another school. I lived it for four years as a student-athlete. It’s part of my identity.
  18. Recently, a college basketball Twitter/X account asked the question, “How many D1 college basketball teams have you seen play in person?” After figuring that number out for myself, I then wondered how many Indiana high school football teams I had seen in person. I could only come up with 37. Obviously refs and coaches are going to have very high numbers, but how many have you all seen? Scrimmages, jamborees, and practices don’t count. Schools that have closed or schools that no longer field football teams do count. Non-IHSAA schools (i.e. Phalen Academy) or 8-man football teams (i.e. Waldron) also count.
  19. Still need week 4 picks from @Uncle Bubba and @Owls2005
  20. Week 4 Picks BNL (0-3, 0-1 HHC) at New Albany (2-1, 1-0 HHC): It’s crazy seeing how far the Stars have fallen. Even against an easier opponent last week, they still seem to be struggling mightily on both sides of the ball. For the Bulldogs, their three easiest opponents on their schedule are all in a row and they finish that stretch off tonight. We’ll find out more about them starting next week and where they fit within the top 5 of the HHC pecking order. New Albany has lost the last two in this series and 4 out of the last 5 but get the win here. BNL leads the series 25-21. Floyd Central (1-1, 0-0 HHC) at Seymour (1-2, 0-2 HHC): After a promising season-opening win at Greenwood, the Owls have not looked too great. A bad fourth quarter against Jeff was followed up with a horrible first half against Columbus East. The secondary has looked very vulnerable in surrendering some huge plays. Meanwhile, the Highlanders finally open HHC play so it’ll be interesting to see if this truly is the best conference team like we’re all anticipating. Five of the last seven games in this series have been decided by seven points or less. I don’t think it’ll be close this year though. Seymour led the series 11-3 after the 2008 game but Floyd Central has won 10 of the last 14 games to close the gap to 15-13. Jennings County (0-3, 0-1 HHC) at Columbus East (1-2, 1-0 HHC): Only two teams in the HHC thus far have scored less than 35 points total and given up more than 85 points total. The Panthers are one (31 and 121) and BNL is the other (19 and 128). In other words, the Olympians are going to extend their 26 game winning streak against JC tonight. East leads the series 46-7. Louisville Fern Creek (1-2) at Jeffersonville (2-1): The Red Devils are riding high after their first two-game win streak since 2020 in which they won four in a row. Alas, enter the Tigers who are likely better than their 1-2 record indicates after suffering a pair of close losses from two undefeated Oldham County, KY schools. I think there’s a chance this could be a close game but I still feel Fern Creek comes away with a win regardless. The all-time series is tied 2-2-1 but the Tigers have won the last two.
  21. Week 4 Schedule BNL (0-3, 0-1 HHC) at New Albany (2-1, 1-0 HHC) Floyd Central (1-1, 0-0 HHC) at Seymour (1-2, 0-2 HHC) Jennings County (0-3, 0-1 HHC) at Columbus East (1-2, 1-0 HHC) Louisville Fern Creek (1-2) at Jeffersonville (2-1)
  22. Lakeside Woodfire Pizza just north of North Vernon is a great pizza spot in Jennings County. Jennings County has my favorite football stadium view. I don’t remember what it’s like on the visitor side. However, on the home side, it looks like you’re surrounded by trees. It’s almost like a football field was plopped down in the middle of a forest. To me, it’s a very peaceful and relaxing view.
  23. HHC Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 3): @SPARKS 15/16 @LC_Bears_04 14/16 @Fkfootball 13/16 @Frozen Tundra 13/16 @gonzoron 13/16 @Bluejacket1 12/16 @boilerfan87 12/16 @Bulldog15 12/16 @Owls2005 12/16 @Uncle Bubba 12/16 @mamasa 11/16 @Impartial_Observer 10/12
  24. You didn’t have to say anything nice about Columbus. I swear I wasn’t trying to question you for liking Seymour best. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so I wouldn’t have cared if you had put Columbus last in the HHC.
  25. Remind me again what it is you love about Seymour. I don’t have a problem with it. Just curious.
